//"Dry, with little gashes... probably caused when the victim was mutilated. There must have been a struggle."// Shiina nodded to herself and wrote a few lines in her notepad. That was all she needed to gather from the tree, so she went back to the footprints. Now, knowing that this blood was already dry, and that there wasn't more of it, Shiina came to a logical conclusion.
//"This doesn't seem like the place where the victim was murdered. Or, at the very least, where they were... disfigured. Considering the footprints, it's possible she might have tried to run. Was this terrorist to strong to defeat with her powers..?"// The Tsurinai pondered this for a second, then went back to examine the footprints in greater detail. This time, they could hopefully follow them someplace else... perhaps the place where the brutality truly happened. The footprints not being made of blood but mud somewhat supported this theory.
-Leaving the tree behind and closely examining the footprints. Feel free to skip the confirmation, we're for sure examining the footprints.

Further examining the footprints would reveal much more information. There were certainly two sets of prints here. One was that of large boots. Telling from the markings, they may have been a size twelve, if not alittle bigger. Behind those was that of a much smaller size. Telling from the indention, whoever wore these shoes had some sort of small heels. Both sets of prints went towards the same direction, and both sets seemed to be deeply engraved in the soil that was now dried mud.
Activating QAS > Quick Action Sequence:
Telling from the clues, it suggests:
1. One set belonged to a male and he followed the terrorist willingly.
2. The victim escaped the terrorist and she followed in pursuit.
3. The terrorist followed the owner of the second set of prints willingly.
4. Continue to investigate the rest of the crime scene before coming to an answer...

//"Hrm... for a foot this large, I'd understand the deep prints, but for heels..? Either they were running or they were quite the slow walkers..."// Shiina frowned and turned towards Sera after this. She had a very specific question she wanted to ask him, if she could. //"Excuse me. Do you know what the victim's shoe size was? It's important."// She definitely had to at least ask him for this information...
-Picking 4, then turning towards Sera to ask him that question.

//"That's exactly it... I think I understand this case now."//
Shiina crossed her arms and went over the evidence in her head. There were a few relevant facts right now, so it was best to go about them in order.
//"First and foremost, with two sets of footprints, we can correctly assess that the smaller one belongs to our terrorist, given that she's a young girl. Should this description be accurate, and she does indeed look young, I very much doubt she would be the one wearing the size 12 boots. That said, we can also correctly assume that they don't belong to the victim, since it's confirmed that she wore size 9.5 footwear. While it could have been possible for Alice to control her and make her follow along willingly, what I believe happened instead is that we have an accomplice, someone of much larger stature who was capable of carrying the incapacitated victim somewhere else to be... disrespected in the way she was. That explains the lack of blood anywhere but the tree trunk, where we can presume most of the struggle happened around. Not to mention, the footprints that most likely belong to our terrorist are seen behind the ones of the other person, though, despite the size, we cannot discern if they were a male or a female Either way, should this be the case, we come to a conclusion..."//
//"It's quite simple, the culprit was following after the owner of this second set of footprints willingly. That must mean they either have an accomplice, or there was more than one victim, one of which hasn't been found. Nevertheless, it's too early to draw conclusions on that specific point."//
-Returning to the QAS, picking option 3. The terrorist followed the owner of the second set of footprints willingly.

SUCCESS! -Investigation Clear!-
---------------------
"Huh..? Not bad, that actually adds up pretty well. You didn't even need to examine all the clues thoroughly to come to that conclusion, did you?" Sera walked beside Shiina with his hands in his pockets and his eyes on the scene. "All the victims up to this point have been nothing but females. It'd be unbelievable to think our suspect would suddenly start going for men, though from the size of the shoe I'd have to suggest it belongs to a male. Not to mention the tracks show her following behind the larger footprints. What's strange is this Psyche Terrorist has only worked alone, but now it appears she has an accomplice." The young man craned his neck back and forth, as if trying to crack it. "The blood on the tree does not belong to our victim though. It's owner cannot be determined from the evidence provided to us here, but the scenario has been played out. I think we have a good idea on what happened here now thanks to you all." He looked towards the group with his usual indifferent expression.
"It appears Alice encountered someone here. This other person seemed to be a friendly, as there are two sets of prints with no sign of someone being dragged along in the dirt. The tree trunk is slightly damaged and there is dried blood, but it does not belong to our victim. Perhaps there was a small scuffle of some kind? There's a chance the victim injured one of the two, and was taken by force. If she were carried, it'd explain the two sets of footprints in the mud." Sera's hand raised to his chin, and he gave it some thought. "Well, we have a trail to work off. Those footprints will lead you in the right direction. Just be careful. She's not working alone, if what your investigation came to is the truth. She also may have a hostage, so play it safe and don't get reckless. I'll stay behind and finish up things here."

This was disconcerting news from the evidence given here. Maria wasn't exactly what you call a strong investigator in the first place and she was glad the likes of Shiina was present. It was good to have people to depend on in this kind of work. But now it sounded as if their mission had increased in difficulty, with an addition of an accomplice and a possible hostage situation? Things were definitely going to get hairy and they must use this lead now. Maria was wearing her combative gloves as she handed the envelope towards Seras, "As inconsequential this might be, please analyze it for fingerprints just in case."
Once the envelope was taken from her hands, she then hoisted her coffin onto her back once more. There was no time to be wasted. It was time to raid and seek the rodents that gnawed on the City's sense of safety. Maria pulled on her gloves to ensure they were tight and mostly out of habit. She gave a nod to the rest of her teammates.
"Let's move out. We won't have much time."
With that said, she quickly followed the trail despite her burden.

//"Iie, it was nothing special. This case was a simple one, after all."// Shiina's expression didn't change as she let her arms fall to her sides. //"More importantly, this entire situation is... not exactly what I'd expect out of a first case. Oh well, I suppose that only means we'll have to try harder."// She silently drew her disposable gloves from her hands and placed them neatly inside a separate pocket of her bag, then retrieved her own fingerless gloves and pulled them on tightly. The Tsurinai opened and closed her hands a few times to make sure the gloves were as secure as could be, then nodded in satisfaction.
//"Either way, this took a while. I don't suppose we should wait for Claire..."// The Cadet frowned and looked away, then turned to Sera again. She took a step towards him and crossed her arms. //"I apologize for taking my time but, I just need a quick answer... would you happen to know Claire's shoe size..?"// Shiina felt something build up in her stomach, a sort of hunch that caused her a slight discomfort. The past victims were in the past, and if this party found the killer, then they would stop being relevant. It was heartless of Shiina to think like that, but she had to become fully pragmatic for this job... even if it meant considering something heinous.
//"Hrm... this case is certainly weird..."// Where would this go exactly...

Sera's eyes narrowed at the question presented to him by Shiina. Taking his eyes off the scene and onto her, he'd stand before her. "What are you implying? Don't let your title as a cadet get to your head, you're still a rookie in my eyes. Claire has nothing to do with this." The young man was obviously angry at the implication the woman was giving off. Sucking his teeth, he'd turn back and get back to work. The whole crime scene was going to be broken down and stored in the cadets personal library, so asking for individual pieces to be analyzed was a moot point. Their welcome was long pass, and now the young man just wanted them gone from his sights. His indifference turned to an attitude the moment he got the implication that they were suspecting her of anything.

How odd. They were looking for one Terrorist but apparently there are two in the picture now? The whole situation kept changing around pretty fast. Noah would just frown slightly as Shiina questioned about Claire. Well, the woman was certainly being odd, and it was strange in itself that she was suddenly busy enough to not make it here when she showed a lot of enthusiasm about solving the case in the morning. Could she be actually involved? It was certainly possible, while it could also be a coincidence of sorts and she wasn't. It would seem a lot of people had attitude though. ''Shouldn't an investigator consider everything if they want to be objective? We have no proof to straight out state she does not have anything to do with this either. That fact stays even if we are still just rookies.'' Noah would just shrug lightly before moving to follow Maria who seemed to be already going ahead of them.
''We'll see who is involved and who isn't once we solve this fully, won't we?''

Even though they were able to get a clearer picture of the crime scene the results only convoluted the situations, instead of one terrorist they were suddenly hunting two and, if Shiina's theory was correct, they had manage to infiltrate the ranks of the cadets planting seeds of rebellion in the process. Sera's words did nothing to convince Athena otherwise, instead his defensive response served only as a red flag, still she wasn't still important enough to argue with her superior and she certainly couldn't afford having the rest of them doing it.
"Pardon my teammate's rude comment, she didn't mean to offend you or imply anything unseemly for Claire. We're simply new to this investigators business and so it's only natural to come up with preposterous scenarios. Once we solve this crime everything will become crystal clear." Athena rushed to reassure Sera. "Time is of the essence. Arguing and throwing accusations wont help anyone, let us leave this place and get ready for the night, 'kay?
With that Athena followed Noah and Maria while signaling Shiina to follow her, she could only hope that the girl would understand her gesture.

The moment it was settled that one person would represent the whole group, Haru had at first been uncomfortable with the idea. He was not used to relying on others, so he had his doubts about this form of investigation. Even more so as they began to talk and search for clues as one unit instead of individuals. He understood the need for team work and all, but even so…he did have a moment where he thought that perhaps trying to work with others was a bad idea While he did contribute at first, he had a feeling his words were falling on deaf ears...and that never set well with the idol who already had enough of being ignored in his personal life to last him a 100 years and then some. The feeling the small assumption set in him was unpleasant, but despite this his face remained calm as he simply became silent for a bit watching and thinking.
At first this rubbed him the wrong way causing him to debate if he should contribute at all to this, but the more he stayed around the group and actually tried to cooperate, the more he found himself calming and reconsidering the situation he was in. Perhaps…this whole team thing could work and maybe the only reason, this ordeal rubbed him wrong in the first place was because he never truly relied on others before. He was always on his own, so for someone to ask him to just trust others? It was uncomfortable to be honest, but even so…
Perhaps he should give this whole relying on others thing a chance. His team members seem competent enough…though he still wasn’t sure if he could actually trust them. Even so this effort was a start to new territory for the idol that typically relied on himself alone to get things done. So swallowing pride and negativity, he would do what he could to be a team player for once in his life.
Regardless of his thoughts or emotions, his expression remained calm as he simply listened to what occurred next as the one investigating came to a conclusion; however, the conclusion and the end result from it was less than pleasing to hear. The results had the idol folding his arms as his head bowed a bit as his left hand went to his chin in thought.
According to what was heard, the conclusion drawn wasn’t too far off the mark. It looked like they may be dealing with at least two culprits and a hostage that could potentially become the next victim.…provided said hostage was alive still. It was a morbid thought, but having it there prepared the young man for the worse case scenario in the situation. He would continue to think in silence for a moment longer as his eyes only moved upward slightly to watch the others around him.
He would see the letter that Maria had been handed earlier be given to Sera for further investigation. It was true they could probably pull the prints off of that at the labs to find out more information. And it was true whatever was gained off the letter might be helpful for the future, but at the moment probably could not aid them much. The item for the moment was placed on the back burner as he made a note to perhaps do some digging later on. For now he focused on the trail they had and the hunt that was about to begin. He was eager to start yes, but it seemed Maria was even more eager. As soon as the letter was out of her hand, she moved to pick up her coffin and after some short words pretty much began to follow the trail left behind.
The action would cause the idol to let the hand that had been resting on his chin drop to his folded arms as he watched her move, making a note of her direct and quick manner of doing things. Interesting…
Despite her actions, he wouldn’t follow just yet as he had a question of his own to ask Sera. His mismatched eyes would turn to the young man, but he would wait his turn as he heard Shiina ask a question about Claire’s shoe size. It was an odd question, but at the same time maybe it was the girl’s way of confirming or denying something in her thoughts. He wasn’t sure and for the most part would remain quiet and wait for the answer. Once the answer was given, he would take note of the reaction and wonder if now that the other was ticked off if he would actually humor another question from a rookie as he called them.
While Noah stated the facts and Athena moved to apologize before moving on, the older idol would remain quiet as he watched each move off on their own to follow Maria who had already gone on ahead
He would sigh lightly at this turn of events as his eyes turned back to Sera.
“I am not sure what Claire is to you, but if she is actually is the problem, then we can only stop her if we have information. You withholding it may only make the others more suspicious. Not a good thing in a supposed team setting. Even so, I won’t pry any deeper into this,” he would say to the young man before shifting in his spot a bit as his eyes turned to Shiina.
“Come on,” he would say to her in surprisingly gentle tones. Maybe despite his cold and aloof exterior, the idol could at least sympathize with someone simply trying to their job or maybe he had other reasons for being slightly more gentle in this case. He was sure none of this was going to be easy on any of them, but having emotions throw up barriers or cloud judgment wasn’t exactly easy to overlook. Even so his words to the young man were not harsh or cold nor were his thoughts hostile towards the reaction, so maybe somewhere within he could understand the other’s anger. It was honestly hard to say as he shifted his weight slightly and walked a few steps away. He would pause only to wait for Shiina to come.

Shiina's eyes widened slightly at Sera's response, but they eased up rather quickly. Instead, she sighed and looked away.
//"I apologize, that was out of line. It's not that I'm suspicious of Claire... I'm simply worried about her. Please, do try to keep an eye on her, I'm not sure she's very safe in this whole ordeal. Even the toughest Cadets may have problems some times..."// Those words didn't make their outlook brighter, but it wasn't as if the Tsurinai was about to give up. She'd shake her head softly from side to side. //"If anything new comes up, Sera... I promise that we'll catch this Terrorist and bring her to justice."//
With that, Shiina turned towards Haru, and nodded. She could at least recognize the man as being from the same industry as her, so this familiarity put her more at ease with him. She would say no more words, and instead began to follow the footprints alongside the others...
-Exit with Haru

"And you have no proof either, so with the absence of evidence you have no grounds to suspect she has anything to do with this. Don't try to talk like you've been doing this longer than me." His comment was directed at Noah, even though he didn't even glance his way once. "We will see who's involved. So go chase after the culprit and stop grasping at the straws you don't have." His attention turned to Athena, who was attempting to ease the situation. He didn't have any words for her, but he gave a slow nod as if acknowledging her words.
"...You're as annoying as the last guy. I've already said my piece." Sera continued to gather the materials, but first he'd put his rubber gloves upon his hands. He had work to do, and his patience was running thin. Accusing a member of his family with no evidence or any sort of reason that he knew of was enough to make anyone mad. To him it looked like a bunch of new recruits trying to get one over on their superior officer for whatever reason.
When Shiina apologized, Sera would turn to look at her over his shoulder. Closing his eyes, he'd give a short breath. "And I'm sorry for snapping at you. I appreciate the concern, and I will keep an eye on her. I won't let Claire ever be hurt again. That's the one reason I joined the government, and the one reason I wanted to unlock my own potential as a Cadet. But unlike you all, I failed the ritual. I didn't have the potential, and instead the Prince had to do my job for me. But he brought her back, and I wouldn't want to lose her again." The young man turned back to the crime scene and worked. "I'll hold you to that promise, Cadet."
You've found a scattered link/shard! Your Wild Card Rank with the Wheel of Fortune has grown by 1!
What are scattered links/shards?:
Scattered links/shards are temporary bonds formed between a Wild Card and another. Unlike Social Links and shards from Demons/Shadows, these links and shards only last temporarily. They can occur when there's an understanding between two parties, and someone puts their faith in you to do a specific mission/job/etc. The amount of scattered shards that can come from a single person varies, depending on the task.
In this case, a scattered shard was born from Shiina's promise to Sera. With this shard, it will rank up her ability with the Wheel of Fortune by one shard, allowing her to use the rank 1 skill of Me Patra for the Alice Dungeon. Once this mission is complete, this scattered shard will disappear from the user.
Sera stood from his position and motioned for the police to assist with the clean up aswell. They would have to analyze the scene and upload the information into the cadets library for them to have access too at anytime. It was something they always had to do, as it was both company policy and procedure. Any incidents that involved a Psyche Terrorist were to be handled by them and them alone.
