Another day came, another morning sun merrily made its way across the horizon, casting its warm rays upon the ranch located in East Eden. The amount of visitors was largely fluid, one day more chippery and crowded, another a quiet serene atmospere, but no matter the company, the dedicated owners would always be around, dutifuly taking care of their belongings, farm and animals. Both for the nature itself and for the people that would come around to learn about the very things the busy city could not appropriately offer them.
As a lone duo, taking care of a fairly broad ranch was not always the easiest task, and often tiring to a fault. Yet, the Robinsons were not the ones to give up mid-way. One of the best ways to pass through a long day was to have nice company around, and the couple sure remembered the energetic blonde boy that had wandered to their humble little gathering not so long ago. Having exchanged contact information with him before and knowing he had been enthusiastic about more visits, they would let him know welcome to come around and perhaps learn something about the horses they took care of.
If Zavie had the time and chose to come around, he would quickly be greeted by the neighing of a horse once he entered the ranch's ground. Were he to follow the sounds, he would eventually find himself in the grassy parts of the establishment, alongside a few horses and Ms. Robinson who appeared to be feeding the horses at the moment, while the man was nowhere to be seen this time around....

Ah! When the boy had gotten the call, he was beyond ecstatic! After last nights weirdness, he was more than happy to get away from the city and go back to the freedom and fresh air of East Eden! And what better way to spend time there than with none other than the sweet couple he met yesterday morning? It would be awesome to see them again! He had done like they told him and had stayed as safe as he could! Though...
Regardless, the boy would walk down the dirt path he did so yesterday, humming as he did so. He would eventually hear the noises of the horses, his ears perking up from under his hat. Huh... Was he that close already? Wow! He must have walked a lot faster than he thought he had! Awesome!
The boy would eventually run up to the fence where the horses were, waving at them from afar. He didn't actually know if the Robinsons were with them, but he didn't mind saying hello too the horses! It was only polite to do so, after all! Regardless, after his hello with the horses he'd head for the main ranch facility afterwords, the one he found himself the other day. Would they be here? Hmm... A little looking never hurt anyone as he'd wander around the building and eventually out the back door.

Some of the horses would notice the blonde waving at them from distance, giving him curious looks, as well as attracting the attention of the woman currently feeding them towards the incoming guest. Seeing the boy take a wrong turn, Ms. Robinson would pat the horse she had been feeding on its nose reassuringly. ''You'll get the rest of your food once I return, okay?'' After all, she couldn't leave the boy wandering around on his own. Who knows how long would it take him to come around to the right place if she chose to just wait. Taking one last checking glance at the hooved animals, she would head after Zavie who has made his way inside in his search.
Once she'd catch up with the boy, she would wave him over. ''Hello there, dear. I'm glad you decided to actually come. I'm currently out feeding the horses, so you can come over to help me out, what do you say?'' She needed to get the routine done, so that kind of arrangement was better than any other as her husband was currently occupied with his own work which required more energy than the horses. Zavie would be better off with her for the moment, and he had said he would like to see the animals before, had he not?
If the blonde complied, she would lead him over towards the slightly impatient horses that were swishing their tails, awaiting the rest of their delicious food of the morning.

Ah, the barn wasn't as full as yesterday, that made things quite easy to find! Kind of... Though, where were the horses? Wasn't this the right way he was supposed to go? With a gentle hum the boy would stand still, glancing left and right and not backwards. This was all so confusing...
"Tsk, vassal Zavie, you passed the turn a while back" the boy's shadow would say, rolling invisible eyes as she did so. This was all so tedious... Horses? Bah... Primitive beasts used for primitive forms of transportation. Couldn't this world be more advanced? To think that she'd be forced to awaken in a time where everything was so savage bored her greatly.
"Oh, ah, I did? Oops! Well, I will just go right ba-" the boy would think before turning around and seeing the nice old lady from yesterday! Oh, hooray! This was great! With a happy smile and a skip before running towards Mrs. Robinson he'd call out a happy hello!
"Oh oh, hello! It is so nice to see you again!" the boy would say happily after finally reaching the elderly woman. It was great to see that nothing was wrong with her too. Last night made him rather nervous, after all... What with the demons attacking and all. Did she know about that? Honestly, did anyone know about that? It all happened so quickly and there wasn't any major damage...
"Horses? Oh, that sounds awesome! I would be more than happy to help you out! Do you think they will like me? I have never met a horse before..." the boy would say with a light hum afterwords. They were super big, horses that is. What could he expect from them? He had studied cats for his whole life almost! He knew everything there was to know about a cat, but not about anything else...
"Whatever you do, be careful. An anxious horse can be just as deadly as a demon... Beasts do not change much regardless of supernatural powers or not." Proxy would warn in a very dulled voice. A faint flicker of her laying down lazily on a floor resonating within the boy's bead chain. She was absolutely unimpressed with all of this... At least she could take a nap, possibly. It wasn't like she had slept at all since awakening.

Ms. Robinson would smile at the blonde boy, who once again showed a lot of happiness and enthusiasm about basically everything. The world would be an interesting place if all children were so eager and ready, wouldn't it? She would smile reassuringly when Zavie asked about the horses as she led him over. ''I'm sure there's no reason for them to dislike you. We have visitors over fairly frequently, so they're used to meeting new people.'' It was true that horses had the capability to be wild and even hurt people when handled in a wrong way, but the two of them raised theirs as best as they could, and as long as someone wasn't trying to hurt them it was highly unlikely something truly bad would happen.
Once they reached said fourlegged animals, she would pet one of them on its snout, offering it a carrot to munch on from the bucket she had prepared for the feeding nearby. ''Horses are one of the bigger animals to take care of, but it's nice to have some loyal companions to spend time with, isn't it?'' The boy had said he was fond of animals before, right? Maybe horses were ones he had never met before, but they had their own charm just like any other animal a person can choose to care for. Within the limits of one's ability of course. It was understandable that not everyone can have one of these, as they required not only the extensive care but also a lot of space which normal living establishment did not offer. She would turn away from the now more satisfied horses, now that they had more food to chomp on, proposing an offer to the young boy. ''Since you took your time to come over, how would you like to try riding one once they're done eating? I could teach you.'' Horse riding was a relaxing leisure activity, and one that was most commonly done with these particular animals.

Oh, so they were nice horses! That was so cool! He had never met a nice horse let alone a mean horse before. He wondered what the difference was... Was it their breed or, like, something else? Maybe their coats were different!
"Vassal Zavie... The difference is their personality..." the boy's shadow would say with an almost... Dumbfounded tone of voice. How... Were these thoughts so innocent? Especially with the emotional turmoil he was going through right now? He was an enigma to the shadow... Impossible to understand in any form or capacity.
"Oh! That is wonderful to hear then! I can not wait to meet them!" the boy would say with an honest smile. He loved animals! Except dogs... But besides that he loved animals! They were all so different and unique and it made him happy to think about them all! He especially loved cats, maybe they'd see one here? Hm...
Regardless, the boy would follow the woman in somewhat silent, humming a tune that he made up this morning. He really didn't know what to say... Other than being excited, but, in all honesty, he really just liked looking at all the grass and cleanness the ranch had. It was so different from the city... It made him happy to think about that, you know?
"Oh wow... They are so big! Oh, I probably should not be loud, right? Sorry..." the boy would say with a quieting voice. He really didn't want to scare them like Proxy had warned. So he'd be on his best behavior! But he was still really excited! He had never been this close to another animal before. Cats being a giant exception...
"Huh? Really? I can ride one? Oh, that would be awesome! I would love to learn how to ride a horse, Mrs. Robinson!" the boy would explain, albeit quieter this time. That would be so cool! Not only was he aloud to come back to the ranch and then see the horses so close, he was going to be able to ride one? Oh wow! Today couldn't get better!

Mrs. Robinson would chuckle softly at the boy’s reaction to seeing the horses as his loud voice caused only a few to look up from their meals to look over at him curiously; however, sensing no threat, the creatures would remain calm and either go back to eating or move away to do something else that caught their fancy. There was only one that actually approached, a black stallion with a glossy hide. He was a beautiful horse that came over to nudge the woman lightly for attention.
Quite use to this, the woman would turn easily letting the horse nuzzle its nose into her chest as she gave it light hug of affection before looking back at the child.
“It is true loud noises can startle the horses; however, you don’t exactly have to whisper around them either. Much like humans they can detect sincerity within a voice, so as long as you just be your sweet self you should not have a problem with them,” the woman would say as she patted the horse light on the muzzle.
When she heard the response to her offer, the woman would beam with pleasure at this as she nodded back. “But of course you can! Come on let’s get you all set-up,” she would say with a gentle jerk of her head. She would head back towards the stables at a casual pace, the black horse following without command. Once back in the shelter. The woman would lead the pair to a large stall where some equipment for horse riding was located.
Getting the horse situated, she would beckon the boy closer. If he came over, she would introduce the boy to the black horse whose name was Soot and then shortly after that, she would show him the proper way to equip the horse with saddle and bridle for riding. As she demonstrated, she would allow the child to do some of them steps himself if he wanted to seeming to enjoy the simple actions of teaching. Once the horse was ready, she would stand up as with a content sigh as she looked over at Zavie.
“Well, my dear everything is all set. We’ll be riding together, so when you are ready just mount the horse,” she said and then thinking a bit she would ask. “Would you prefer for me to pick up for this or would you prefer a step stool?”
Mounting a horse could be a tricky affair for new comers and even trickier when said new comers were short. Regardless, she would let him decide how he wanted to tackle the situation.

The boy would nod his head. So, you didn't have to whisper! But being loud wasn't good either! Well, he could use his inside voice outside! It was kind of a funny thing to do, right? Regardless, the boy would stare wide eyed at the black horse that walked forward. He was, like, her pet kind of! His cats would nuzzle him all the time like that!
"Oh, he is kind of like my cats! They love to be petted and they nuzzle just like that!" the boy would say with an excited, but not so loud voice. He loved animals! It was a shame the horses weren't just big cats... But beggars couldn't be choosers! Whatever that meant...
"Oh, really? Right now? Awesome!" he'd say in an excited voice, going to skip after the older woman in excitement as they walked towards the barn. Were they going to ride the black horse that was accompanying them? Oh! That'd be so cool! He was suuuuper big, so that meant they could see a lot from atop him!
The boy would listen too the instructions intently, Proxy helping him remember the details as he did a few of the steps himself. They were easy! Kind of... Or, at least they were easy when he had someone in his head to remind him of some of the things he had to do.
"Hm? Well, I can do it! I-I think... Hm..." the boy would say, looking up at the thing he had to put his foot it. What was that called again? Eh... Well, he could do that! He'd just have to... Mm, no... That wouldn't work...
"Mmn... Maybe I do need help." the boy would say with a small frown. This was actually kind of tricky! He wasn't used to not being able to jump or climb to things that were taller than him! And while he /could/ jump... That would probably hurt the horse! Oh dear...

Mrs. Robinson would chuckle at the comment the boy made about the cats finding the child adorable in his behavior. He was quite the joy to have around for sure and it made her wonder for a moment how much her and her husband life would change if...No. No. This was not the place for that. Best focus on happier things, yes? Besides she didn’t want the child before her to see her in such a state, so covering up her emotions with smiles she would nod.
“Is that so?” she would say. “Well those cats must really love you if they return the affection back in such a fashion,” she would say happily before taking the child with her to get him set up for horseback riding. As she worked and taught her mannerism was gentle and mother like as she watched the child participate in some of the steps. She remained patient and calm, the whole ordeal bring warmth to her heart as time went on. When everything was all done and checked over, the woman would look over at the child with a smile.
“Well done, Zavie!” she would say giving a proud nod to the other once the task had been completed. He really had done a wonderful job so why not praise him? Feelings of being proud aside, the situation would go from happy to a small dilemma as the issue of how the kid was going to mount the horse came up. While the woman did offer the child a stool, it seemed he was going to attempt the action on his own. Giving the kid some room, she would watch to see what he would do; however, after a few moments it seemed he would give up and submit to the fact that he actually needed help.
Laughing softly at this, the older woman would step forward.
“Alright then, here we go,” she would say her tones shifting as she reached down to pick the other up, giving Zavie a boost to help him get situated on the horse making sure to direct the boy to where to place his feet so he was on the horse properly. While she didn’t look it the woman was actually quite strong thanks to working around the farm all day, making assisting a child that much more easier. Once she was sure the boy was safely on the horse, she would pull herself up behind the boy.
“Now then. You see those?” she would say directing the boy’s attention to the reigns of the horse that sat loosely on the saddle. “Pick them up and gently tug them in the direction you want the horse to go in,” she would say before gently nudging the horse with her heels to get the stallion to start moving at a slow walk. Without direction it headed out of the stables and towards the gate that would lead them out into large fields of East Eden. At the gate an assistant would open the gate for them and wave to them as they set off into the light of early morning.
Riding Lesson:
Zavie can choose where they go while Mrs. Robinson will make sure the ride remains safe for them both. Have fun my dear!

Horses were really cool! That was a true fact for sure! The boy couldn't help but be happy as the two worked together. He loved to help out, especially when it was helping with something important! He always did his best when baking and running the cash register! He even tried super hard last night! Oh, er...
"Mm... If you did not try hard, we would have surely perished. Take pride in your ability to give it your all while in battle, vassal." the shadow would whisper in the boy's mind, a firm nod coming from the boy. He really didn't like the idea of fighting more demons... They were scary, and what if something went horribly wrong? It wasn't wise to fight them...
"Huh? Oh, yes ma'am! My cats all love me and I love all of them! I make sure to feed them every day and give them water. Plus, I even know how to take care of them if they get sick or hurt!" the boy would say with a proud puff of his small chest. His medical knowledge wasn't really advanced though... But he tried his hardest regardless! He knew how to tell when they were sick or hurt, and he knew how to bandage them up! Though, he didn't know how to make medicine or anything... But he took super duper good care of them once they got the medicine they needed!
"Oh, I did good? I am glad I could help you!" the boy would say with a happy smile, tilting his hat gently to the side in a shy manor. Even though he was always praised for his good work, it was rare to get such praise from people he didn't know that well. He usually got it all from his parents! And he almost expected the high praise they gave.
"Oh!" the boy would say in light surprise as he was lifted up. He didn't mind, even though Proxy became on edge. The sudden tension in his mind made him a little scared, but he was okay none the less. He wasn't used to her raging emotions yet after all... Regardless, he got seated quite quickly on the horse, doing as he was instructed and looking up at the older woman once she got atop the horse with him. He could drive? Really!?
"Oh oh! Can we go see some flowers? I love to see flowers, you know! They are always so pretty, especially when it is not raining!" the boy would say with a happy smile. He wouldn't yank the reins yet... He wanted to know where to go first, after all!

The older woman would see a nod come from the boy though what it was towards she didn’t know. Even so the woman wouldn’t make any sign of noticing this observation as she continued to make preparations with the boy.
“Is that so? Well, those cats are very lucky to have you then. Though I didn’t know you were a doctor too. That is very impressive,” she would say with a gentle grin. It was true she understood the other may not be a pro at being a vet, but at the same time she never saw the harm and praising even the little things in life. Regardless of the praise, she would find herself quite amused by how the boy went from being quite proud to bashful in the next moment. Such a sweet child and humble too. It made her wonder what type of parents he had to be raised in such a fashion.
“But of course you did. I’d say with a bit more practice, you’ll be a pro at it!” she would say with a confident nod at the other. He really could make a great aid around the farm and his energy and presence would be welcomed. It would definitely make the place more lively with children around and she was sure the animals would enjoy the extra attention. It was a nice thought, but one that would only remain in her mind. For now, she would just focus on the time given to her now with Zavie.
In any case, she would help the boy up into the saddle before getting onto the horse herself. After giving her directions and setting the horse in motion, she would hear the boy’s question and chuckle.
“But of course we can. It is beautiful outside, so we can go wherever you want,” the woman would say as the horse began to walk out into the open field.
Locations To Visit:
The Fields: To the left and right side of the path are wide open fields with plenty of space to run around in. There is a lot of low waving grass to be found and flowers seem to be scattered throughout the field.
The Woods: As the path continues, it eventually gives you a choice of going left, right, or straight. Taking the right path leads one into a quiet section of trees. Here one can relax in the nice shade of the trees and perhaps discover other mysteries within the woods.
The Lake: By taking the left path one will continue down the road the space slowly filling up with trees that are nicely spaced. Here many low shrubs chill in the shade along with large various other plants. At the end of this path is a lake where one can relax on the shores, go swimming, fishing, or even go for a boat ride arond the lake. In the center of the lake is a small island covered by trees that is said to be a magical place of its own. Though how true that is is unknown.
The Island of Mystery: The mysterious island that sits in the middle of the lake. It can only be reached by boat.
The Farmlands: If one were to take the straight path on the road, the fields eventually give way to large stretches of flat lands that are well attended to by the various farmers and people local to the area. All products grown out here matches the season, so it is no telling what you’ll find when visiting!

The boy would smile at the praise he received from his supposed medical knowledge and how well he did at helping Mrs. Robinson with preparing the horse. It felt good to be told you did good! His parents would often praise him for how well he did at baking and working the cash register! Even strangers did at times! It was really nice.
"So, we can go any where? Hmmm..." the boy would say, deep in thought as they went down the path. It took the boy until they got to the crossroads for him to decide. Oh, a lake! He hadn't seen one of those in a while! Plus, it would be one without buildings near by...
"Oh oh! Can we go to the lake? I bet there are water flowers there!" the boy would say with an eager smile and ecstatic personality. He was ready to see the pond, after all! Plus, what if there was something special there? He couldn't wait!
Ms. Robinson nodded, and would tap the horse into a trot as they made their way towards the lake. She smiled, though her smile would slightly falter like she had just remembered something. She returned her look to Zavie imagining that he followed of course. The trip would not be too long to the lake, but long enough for her to talk to him for a short bit.
"You remind me of my son. I bet he would enjoy being here. He used to love the outdoors like you do." She returned to her smile, though this time something felt a little far off about it. She would look ahead as they made their way towards the lake. The walk was actually quicker than expected, and when they arrived at the lake, she would hop off, and help Zavie off if need be, before going to the lake and bringing the horse there and allowing them to drink. She herself would kneel down and splash a handful of water over her eyes to clear up the flickers of sweat forming over her. Today was definitely a hotter day than normal. She then returned to Zavie and gestured to the grassy plains around the lake. Of course it would be clear on the way, but there were plenty of flowers to look at that grew near the lake. Horsetails danced by the shore, while sunflowers and daisies shivered in the breeze as the wind blew. "I suppose it's not as grand, but that's the charm don't you think? The lake tends to get these types only, so the colors always are the same across the ground."

Used to? That was a weird way of putting it... The boy didn't pay much mind to it, after all, he could just like to be inside reading books or something! Though, Proxy had more morbid thoughts about the words... Was something wrong with the son? Was he injured? Dead? Devoured by demons? The concept of death fascinated her... After all, she was a Goddess of Death and Resurrection, it'd be strange if she didn't interest her in her specialized craftsmanship.
"Vassal, ask her about her son. The rea-" the shadow would say before the boy would gently twirl the bead chain in his head. The night before he learned that was an easy way to make her quiet... Thought, it made her extremely mad. But, he couldn't just talk to her! Mrs. Robinson might get confused...
"He must read a lot of books then! My mom stays inside a lot because she reads a lot!" the boy would say with a cheery smile, all the while an enraged Proxy slung curses within his head. It hurt at first, but the light twinge of pain he felt was hidden by his smile and hat. Ear twitches weren't visible if your ears weren't visible! Regardless of this though, the boy would return to paying attention too his surroundings. Before long, they came to the lake and it was just as amazing as the boy had originally thought.
"Oh wow! This place is amazing!" he'd say as he was helped off the horse. He'd spin and eagerly run towards one of the horsetails. He'd never seen one of these before... The lakes in Sunlake Palms and Little Tokyo didn't have them, that was for sure! (Or, at least to his knowledge they didn't...)
"Everything is so pretty! It is grand in its own way, right? Like, I have never seen one of these before! That hast to mean it is super special in a way!" the boy would say in his upbeat attitude. While he would have laved to see a lycoris flower, he still enjoyed being able to see the horsetails and the other flowers!
She smiled back to him and nodded. "He does do a lot more reading than he used to. He's a nice young man," she said, joining him to look at the nearby vegetation. She would have elaborated more, but nothing either of them said made it really necessary. "Being on its own can be special, but sometimes it's lonely. Are you lonely at all Zavie, or do you like what you are doing right now?" She asked with no particular rush for an answer. She mostly stood there in silence as Zavie enjoyed himself. She could hardly wish to interrupt his time, after all she had brought him here. She looked at the lake again before thinking about something. She went to her horse to walk them to the lake, as they began to drank while Zavie's horse would walk next to them to do the same.
