Liam O'Neill (Endymion)

Decades ago, a caravan of Irish traders decided to stop at Endimyon to help flourish and develop the city commercially. One of them was a mentally and physically strong woman determined to make the O’Neill name recognized. This woman built a commercial empire and reigned over it until she passed it down to her son, a young visionary man who saw the opportunity to shift the family business into something bigger. With the help of his newly wed wife, equally capable of handling business and a trustable and loving partner, he invested all of his money into building a bank that would later become a chain all over the world, or so he envisioned. Luck seemed to smile at the couple bringing not only the success of the project, but a son born from his love. And this son was Liam O’Neil.

Liam had a normal childhood, at least in the rich spectrum of it. His parents were his world and they were very careful to make sure he got the right education, good companies, a healthy dose of hobbies and extracurricular activities and friends connected to good families. The boy grew under the watch of caring people, including his grandma that found a new thing to manage after the business was passed down. Everything was coming along fine until the Eternal Divide. That day, his parents gone near the central area of the disaster to really start the chain they once envisioned and took him along to start showing him how their business work, as he was the natural successor of everything.

The moment the younger O’Neill separated himself from his parents, everything happened. His memory is very fuzzy after that, but what he can never forget is that after a lot of running, escaping and screaming for his parents, he faced what he shouldn’t. The bodies of both of his parents lacerated and bleeding between rubbles, and for a slight moment he even had the impression of seeing his mother babbling something before dying right in front of his eyes… And then everything faded away into black. He woke up in a hospital bed with his grandmother by his side amidst the chaos the city had turned into. After that moment he could never forget what he saw and for the first months he would dream every night about his parents calling out to him in pain and suffering before being cut into pieces right before his eyes. He didn’t want to sleep anymore to see them. He didn’t want to eat anymore, he was not worth it. He didn’t want to live anymore if he couldn’t even protect the ones he loved. His grandmother had been the angel who successfully saved him from any killing attempts, but nothing seemed to help him get out of that stage even after consulting with the best psychologists she could find, after all, she could not lose her only grandchild even if he himself didn’t see his own potential anymore.

After several sleepless nights, different attempts and forceful enrolments into different activities, she remembered a conversation about learning how to fight and if she heard it right after all the talks dissuading him from doing anything too harsh, becoming strong to protect everyone he loved. And it worked. The first day of Martial Arts training was the first day she saw a glimmer of hope and a night well slept. After that, the city was rebuilt and the government confiscated the majority of O’Neill’s proprieties to create their own bank, promising to sustain Liam and his Grandmother (now the only survivors of the family, and almost the only Irish still alive) until their last days. Grandma O’Neill was not happy, but used the opportunity to move to a house in Little Tokyo, being closer to the dojo that made his grandson breathe again. Both of them lived their lives together with the boy training his hardest to numb the pain of his lost parents, being pushed to keep his grades in check as he might need that in the future and long talks about general knowledge without touching into painful subjects. Grandma O’Neill still had strength left to search for a way to get everything that they owned back but the city had too much strict rules and everyone seemed blind followers of Lamecia, frustrating her every attempt. Liam, on the other hand, grew as a fantastic martial arts student, being called the Dragon for his unique way of analyzing and taking down his opponents with strong finishing blows, even specializing himself into armed combat faster than what it was expected thanks to his harsh training that he himself took in order to clean and train his mind into more pacific and pro-life thoughts, finding that living consists into balance and by balancing every aspect of your life you will live your fullest.

His overall condition improved immensely until his 16th anniversary, when he was finally forgetting how death affected him and becoming used to the new life he was living. That day, after all the happy birthdays from fellow martial pupils and classmates, his talk with his grandmother was different. They both knew her time was approaching but the boy liked to thing she would live much more years to tell her tales to a lot more people, but she knew her death was near the corner.  She thanked him for continuing the O’Neill name and not giving up on himself, and asked him to never forget that they were risk takers and would always seek for the truth and the right path to take, whatever the cause. She slightly adverted him to not be so trusting as he was been on the government because of the supposed help they were giving to them, but to open his eyes a little bit more to reality before he shook away the subject, as it brought a eerie feeling to the commemorations. Some months after that, she passed away calmly and even if it hurt greatly to the young man, he felt she left much more for him than he could even take. He has grown apart from old friendships and companies to mourn and cry about his last lost relative, but her words and life examples remained in his mind and differently from his parents, Liam took it as the end line for a great life. He continued his training and thought carefully about her words, planning to transfer himself to the Academy. After all, there is not a better place to discover the truth about the Government than an association directly connected to it.
Finally, at the Second Semester, he got his transference. Living now alone, old ghosts began to haunt his mind again with nightmares coming to visit his mind at night again. But with a new resolve and some new mysteries to uncover, he can finally start to break out of his own built shell to protect himself from the world and his own mind to, who knows, even discover who was the culprit behind his parents deaths and avenge them, bringing peace not only to their souls but to his as well.
