When not out on duty, or spent her time at home or with friends, Danielle could be seen practicing Archery at the training facilities. This hobby of hers, along with a never ending desire to improve her skills, brought her here quite often. Seeing as no one was really around the archery range that often during this time of day, it was one of the many places where she would meet up with her close friend Kalyan. The two had always been... oddly close to eachother. As to why, she had really no clue, but she wouldn't argue against it. Kalyan was nice to be around in general, so she cared little of what the grounds of their friendship had been rooted in.

It did sadden her a bit that she couldn't see him as often as she would like, with Danielle being a soldier and Kalyan a scientist, but that made every time they met that much more important, in a way. Of course, her relation to Kalyan had been a well kept secret of hers since day one. Not even Katherine, her closest friend next to only Kalyan himself, didn't know of him. It's not that she didn't trust her sister with this, as it was moreso for Kalyan's sake that she had kept the lid on things. After all, the circumstances of which they had been found had been... shady at best.

They usually kept in contact using whatever methods they could, so they could meet up when there was time for it. They each took their turns picking a place and time, and today, it just so happened to be Danielle's turn. So, here she was, at the archery range at 08:15 PM, waiting for him to show up. Meanwhile, she picked up one of the practice bows and a quiver filled with arrows, aiming at the target dummy on the other end of the hall. She took out one of the arrows, and pulled it back with the string, aiming slightly above the little, red bull's-eye mark with the tip of the arrowhead before she let her projectile soar through the air. With a "Thump", the arrow dug it's way into her target, sticking out just an inch away from the center. Heh, not bad. But she could do better than that. Regardless, a small, yet triumphant smile made it's way to her lips, as she took aim once again.

Who was Kalyan to refuse a meeting with Danielle? He didn't really much care for anyone's origins, the young man wasn't the kind of person to believe in fate, but something brought them together regardless, you know? He simply had no reason not to go, even if his studies were waiting... even if the Monado was just sitting there, waiting to reveal more. Aaah, but he shouldn't keep her waiting.

Though, with how entranced she seemed to be with her archery, when the blonde man stepped up to the range, he didn't seem to call or react, just leaning on a wall with a calm smile as he watched her. He had to admit, she had gotten pretty good at that. It was kind of odd, really, that it was the girl that had the better combat ability as opposed to him, but that was just fine.

In between shots, Kalyan would silently walk up to Danielle and place a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, Dani. I think the targets might get a little sad if you just keep shooting all day, you know?" The blonde let out a soft smile, he was never one to go all-out with greetings either. Frankly, he wasn't a guy for a lot of stuff, just an average person in the end. Hell, maybe that's why they got along? Danielle could complement his normal nature, really, if you thought about it long enough.

Danielle almost jumped when Kalyan touched her shoulder. The girl had been so focused on her target practice that she hadn't even noticed him coming here in the first place. She lowered her bow and returned the arrow in her hand back to the quiver resting on her back, as she turned to face Kalyan with a warm smile. "Heh. It's good to see you too." It was indeed. "So... How have you been as of late? Any news regarding the Monado?" Yes... The curious red sword that had been found with the two on that fateful day. Kalyan had taken it upon himself to do some research regarding the strange artifact. Danielle had never been much good on that front, so she had left it up to him. Although, she would be lying if she said she wasn't interested in it. Even Danielle couldn't deny it's importance. They knew so very little about it... How it even ended up together with them was a mystery all on it's own. It had been the three of them all along from the start.

Danielle, Kalyan and the sword. All equally mysterious as to where they all came from. Kalyan had been trying to decipher the mysteries behind it for as long as Danielle could remember... All those times where she had been sitting next to him, watching curiously as he tinkered around with it had been... valuable for her, even if not much had been said during those times. Well, working out their origins gave Danielle purpose. Perhaps one day she would be skilled enough with the bow to go on another of those expeditions, whenever the next one would come. Perhaps they would find out more about their murky past if they explored the tower? They had been found in there after all, so... they had some sort of connection to it, obvious or not.

Kalyan chuckled as she jumped at his action. As expected, to him, it would only be natural for her to react that way. He didn't respond to her own little return of a greeting, but the next question made his eyes light up slightly.

"Are you sure you want to hear? You know that if I start, I'll go on for hours about this stuff." The blonde rubbed the back of his head. There wasn't much he could say but he did have a lot to talk about. If Danielle still wanted to know, he would start, though.

"Well, I haven't had much time exactly to figure it all out lately, but I did discover that the Monado seems to have very thin layers of glass juxtaposing themselves over each other in its middle. Once in a while, when I pick it up, it almost looks like it gives a glow from there. I've performed some tests with Manometres, and it seems to get a very slight positive reading of Magical Energy, in about three negative orders of magnitude compared to our regular instruments, which the readers are attuned to." He was going into technobabble at this point. Kalyan would continue speaking if Danielle let him, but his terms would just get more and more complicated, to the point that she would not be able to make out a word without formal and extensive education on the subject. He truly was a scientist at heart, that much was for sure, and he really could speak for hours if left alone like this.

"Oh, I know. I was just curious if you've found anything new... It's connected to us both, after all." She said with a light chuckle. Kalyan wasn't exaggerating, she knew that much. After all, he was very passionate about his work, and loved every second of it, from what Danielle had seen. "Go on, I'm listening." She wouldn't deny him the chance to geek out a bit.

"Hrm... So it interacts with Magical energy. Do you have any idea of how old it might be?"

Well, if it pre-dated their technology, what else could be waiting for them inside the tower? "This sword certainly is keen on keeping secrets from us... Just like the tower itself. Which is why was thinking of joining the next expedition crew once I'm a proper soldier. No matter how you look at it, that tower has a connection to us both, just like the Monado. I... want to know why we were there in the first place." Well, it was a major reason for why she had joined the military rather than becoming a scientist like Kalyan. "As I'm not very good with technology, this is all I really can do..." Well, she wasn't going to budge on that front. As Kalyan well knew, once Danielle's mind had settled on something, there was no stopping her.
