| — ... — Hm. Alright, not what he expected. So, Charles had more troubles in his attempt of a life than the boy could imagine. So, this "old man" is a loved one to Charles, perhaps someone similar to a fatherly figure for the android since he can't really have a father for obvious reasons. That's just his deductive instincts tingling. All in all, Shunnosuke would stop before taking another forkful to his mouth, the intensity of his stare changing from a malicious enjoyment to a display of surprise followed by sympathy. Pity, even. What is it like to deal with the death of a dear and close person? He never had to experience it. What could he tell other than "yes, it happens"? — My condolences... — He uttered, pondering as his eyes focused the plate set over his lap. — Is his state that aggravate? — Should he pry on that or...? | |

| Charles slowly raised his head when he noticed the sudden but graceful change of atmosphere. Shunnosuke apparently got at least part of the cue, seeing as his gaze and tone had changed. He nodded. "He's in and out of surgeries, mostly at my demand and bill... The doctors say it's meaningless, but I just don't want him to die..."
Charles shook his head. "Anyways, is there anything going on in your life?" He decided to change the bitter topic, and besides, he was somewhat curious as to what a rich person's life was like. Aristocracy and all that fun stuff, right?

| — Hope springs eternal in the human breast. — He said briefly, before sticking the fork delicately in the cake's flesh. Eventually, all live beings die. That's the inevitable fate in the cycle of this utterly depressive and mediocre state we call "life". Even non-living creatures, such as machines, can expire the course of their usable period. So, in a sense, Charles couldn't die in the purest sense of the word, and yet he could. Isn't that odd?
— There's always something going on in my life. Do you want to choose a specific topic for me to fill you in? — He regained motion, enjoying another slow bite on the cake. If he were to start talking about his life, he wouldn't see the end of it... To avoid embarrassing situations, nothing better than asking Charles to be precise and specific.

| "I guess you could tell me..." Charles looked up, a finger on his chin as he wondered what to ask the other. There must've been a lot of super cool stuff happening in his life all the time, so it was definitely hard to choose only one thing to ask him.
Just the same, he couldn't yet shake the feeling Shunnosuke was analyzing him, even with asking him to choose a topic, so he was pressured not to choose the wrong one as to not give the boy anything more to dwell upon. He should try and be as careful in his choice as possible.
After a short while of silence, Charles was content with what his mind had cooked up. He turned to Shunnsouke and spoke up. "Tell me how's it like being rich, how does it affect your life. I mean, it's gotta be nice being rich, right?"

| What it feels like to be rich? Hm, tricky question. Was it as nice and joyful as Charles pictured it to be? — Hm... I guess you could say it brought unique chances to me. I got to study at the best schools in Penecia, as well as attend the best parties, meet the most important people in Azores' social scene...hm... — He never really pondered over it until Charles asked. Whether he acknowledged it before or not, the bountiful financial condition of his family opened many doors and definitely played a big role in his character, as well as introduced him to pivotal opportunities most people wouldn't have access to. Wow. He only realized it now how privileged he is! However, it had drawbacks, which is what he focused at for the majority of his life. Awkwardly enough, talking about the bad sides of being part of the upperclass seemed way easier. — On the other hand, it can backfire when people expect you to behave and act in a way that doesn't suit you entirely and neglect you once they realize you aren't what they want you to be. Then again, that's a trend in contemporary society. — He answered, perhaps sounding more bitter than he should. | |

| "Mhm, mhm." Charles leaned on his hands and nodded as he listened to Shunnosuke. He seemed to be focusing really hard and it showed in his stare. "Oooooh, I see. Until just now, my presumption seemed to be incorrect, then!" He announced all of a sudden as he stiffened up in his seat. "Seems like being rich isn't all good, but it's still worth it." He nodded, stood up, sprinted to one of the notebooks, picked up a pencil, returned to the table and wrote down a note in a really messy handwriting. "There! Now I won't forget that for when I become rich! Not all things about being rich are good, but I can pretend not to be who I am. I mean, I do that all the time."
"Then off to the next question." He said to the other. "Hmmm... Oh, I know! What would you want to do in the future? Do rich people need to do jobs like the rest of the population?"

| What? The teen blinked once, twice, as many times before the info actually sank in. "Not all things about being rich are good, but I can pretend not to be who I am"? That's not what Shunnosuke wanted him to grasp at all, Charles got what the teen said completely the wrong way. — No no no, that's not what I meant, I-- — He didn't really have time to explain himself before he had another question thrown at him. This time, one that's not dubious enough to be distorted. — Hm, not necessarily they actually need to work. My mother is a livid example of that. — Sharaku, apparently, had a very comfortable financial condition that made work unnecessary in his life for the time being. How he accumulated that work remained a mystery. Of course, he can only have the luxury of not working nowadays because, at one moment, it was crucial for his survival. Same goes to his mother, with the slightest difference that she has people working for her. — As for me, I intend to be a fashion designer soon as I graduate, along with the next manager in line of my family's business. What else would you like to know, hm? — He was kind of enjoying Charles's mutual interest in him. It was some sort of pure curiosity, rather than people gathering information to purposely butt in his business. | |

| "Hmm..." Oh right, Shunnosuke has mentioned something about fashion before, hadn't he? Charles wondered to himself as he wrote the new thought down on the note before putting away the pencil and focusing on Shunnosuke again. "But when you make enough money out of it, would you still continue working?" Charles asked, leaning on his hands against the table. He was getting immersed in the conversation with the rich boy, more than he could have ever known. The enjoyment, the niceness of sharing something with someone else warmed him up, roused him to keep asking questions...
It was more than fun having Shunnosuke over at his house ~

| That was a good question. Would he keep working once he accumulated a considerable fortune for himself? Probably yes. Fashion is his passion, and Shun wasn't opposed to the idea of working as long as it's something he's passionate about. The original plan is marrying a prince from a wealthy kingdom but that's sort of...out of question. — Hm...most likely I would. I own a company, but that doesn't mean I can't have my own achievements. | |

| "Aaah, I see, I see." Charles nodded enthusiastically. "It's the will to achieve what others have not that drives humans forward, after all!" As he turned his head to smile at the other boy one last time, he turned away and looked towards the window, resting his arm on the chair seat in a relaxed fashion. The sun was setting, the da was ending... An endless cycle of human lives, spinning their threads and interacting with others, and all of it just for the sake of it! There was beauty in that simplicity, beauty that Charles was still trying to grasp, but a beauty nonetheless.
The purifying light of the setting, burning orange sun, the cleansing atmosphere. Everything was coming to an end, be it a good one or a bad one. It didn't really matter though, all that was important was that he was happy. That everybody he cared and didn't care about was content...
And so, the time to part finally came around. A peculiar day it was, full of new insights and joyful chatter. "So, was I hospitable enough?" Charles asked Shunnosuke as he led his to the door of his apartment. "You seemed to enjoy the cake, as well as my little questionaire. Can we call this... date, a success?"

| Shunnosuke found Charles's behavior amusing in a sense. He was unlike Alphonse, the other android he knew. While the latter had a fair amount of knowledge in regards to humanity and its issues and concerns, the former portrayed a rather naive attitude as well as the will to learn, even though the process of his rationality made it hard for him to grasp even the single concepts about humans. Was it odd to compare both. — Hm, it was alright for my standards. Though I wouldn't call this a date, please. You're still a robot. — Shunnosuke's flustered matter-of-fact response, highlighted by his roll of eyes, showed otherwise. Technically, this was a date, wasn't it? At least it met the requirements for such. With Charles's insistence to refer to it as a date, he refused to classify it as such. In the end, he opened up a restrained although genuine smile to the android and parted his ways. It was an enjoyable afternoon that definitely expanded the teenager's horizons a little bit, even if he didn't acknowledge it immediately...
