PvP Bootcamp [Lesson 1 Jerry and Deshi] Empty
PostSubject: PvP Bootcamp [Lesson 1 Jerry and Deshi]   PvP Bootcamp [Lesson 1 Jerry and Deshi] EmptyWed Aug 19, 2015 10:45 am

Lesson 1 of the PvP Bootcamp. I will be training you both in real world combat. What I mean by real world combat is combat where you cannot summon a Persona. Your means of combat is your Soulbound Weapon, any Human Skills you may have, and your own wits. I'm also going to be giving advice on creating versatile Human Skills that complement your character.

Your first human skill will always be the Tier 1 human skill you get when you're starting off. Contrary to popular belief, this human skill is probably the most important human skill you will get. It builds a foundation that can really make your character unique.

Personally when I make my first human skill, I make it so it compliments a specific strength on my character.

I will use my newest character the Underachiever for example. The strength I used to compliment my Human Skill is this.

—Strength Name: Complete Knowledge of the Human Body
—Description: Bones, Muscles, Nerves, Joints, etc. All you'd ever need to know about the human body is all trapped within the grey matter of Slye's skull. He was not one for studies, but for specific reasons he learned the ins and outs of the human body. What this means, however.. Well, you'll have to see for your self when the time comes.

Now the human skill itself is this..

Human Skill Name: Erasure MP
Persona Name: Cheshire
Tier: Tier 1
Cost: 15
Type of Damage: Zio
Description: The User has the unique ability to generate Emp waves. Through these waves he can stimulate both humans and machines. When it comes to humans, these EMP waves can stimulate the motor system of nerves, and rewire them to a certain extent if the user has knowledge on how to do it. When it comes to machines, the user can disable them by frying their circuits or give them a sudden charge. Since this is Tier 1, it takes direct contact with the skill to do such a thing. This skill is only as good as its user. For those resistant to Zio, it will take two full posts of direct contact for the skill to take effect. For those who block or reflect Zio, they will be immune. The side effects wear off after 3 posts, ending at the beginning of the 4th. Elec Boost raises the posts it last by 2. Amp raises it by 3. In PvS battle this simply does Tier 1 Zio damage with a 10% chance of paralyzing for their next turn. If someone is weak to Zio, the attack lasts for double the rate.

Now this human skill has an application in and out of combat and can be used in both PvS and PvP. A human skill should be unique and very different. Do not make a basic human skill that's just another attack. You want it to have an application that can be versatile and can give you an edge, even if the odds are against.

Anyone can make a human skill that's just a basic attack like "With this skill used I can now attack twice" or something bland such as this. This is what you DON'T want in a human skill.

For The Underachiever this emp skill and his knowledge of the human body allows him to stimulate the motor nervous system. In laymen's terms, if he touches you he can virtually rewrite how your body responds to wanting to move an arm or leg.

But it's not only used as an attack, but he can also use it for himself aswell. Using this skill he can stimulate his own nervous system to directly correspond to his muscles to increase reaction speed. So basically his body reacts faster than his actual mind. A sort of Autopilot for defense. Combine this with -

—Strength Name: Quick but not Fast [Strength]
—Description: Slye is quick, but certainly not fast. Infact, his running speed is rather pathetic. Or maybe it's more along the fact he can't stand running so he just doesn't. Regardless, he is quick to act. Because he is so lazy, he always attempts to use the least amount of effort to do anything, this includes living life in general. Instead of making wasted movements, like running away from someone with a gun, he'd instead make sleight movements with his body to narrowly dodge trajectory instead. This laziness of his has given him a great ability of having great reflex.

And it boosts his reaction speed to superhuman levels. Just another application of one human skill that compliments the strengths on your character.

So before we get started in the actual PvP match, I want you two to make a human skill for the character you're using in the fight. Once you're done, post it here and I'll take a look at it and help you redefine it if it's lacking in application. Remember, when you make a human skill you can say it does something in PvP and then something else in PvS. It doesn't need to just be a straight shooter skill. If you need help making one, just let me know.

I am using Sephtis one of 3 characters I have next plot and the one that will more than likely be my main for my time on this fourm. I have yet to get his app up, but that is okay cause this can help me work out the missing pieces, so we can call this Sephtis a protype.

We already talked about your HS and Strength so you're good to go, Jerry.

Sister when it comes your HS, I recommend you going for something abit different after looking at the corresponding strengths. In my opinion I'd say for you to go towards something to do with visual prowess. Maybe make a Human Skill that enhances your vision since you already have a strength that can assist with closing the distance. Perhaps create a skill that amplifies how you see the world to give you an advantage over your opponent.

A few ideas I'd have in mind would be:

A bulls-eye sort of vision ability that allows you to place a "tag" on an opponent for 3 turns. With this tag, any projectile you either shoot, throw, etc will hone in on their current position. When you rank up you can make it so that even skills may do the same from your persona/Shadow Weapon/etc.

An Oracle eye that allows you to see small traces of your opponents physical movements and allow you to get a small idea on what may be occurring next. For example: If an opponent is throwing a punch, you'd know a punch was coming but not sure which arm or where it's being aimed. But atleast you'd have a small chance to predict what's going on.

Those are just two examples I made randomly. But it seems this character's strength can come from their analyzing eyes. I can help you come up with something, but I feel visual prowess may be their thing. With their over all ability, they should be able to combine it to the point where they can be a threat. And though it may not help that well in a one v one with a stronger opponent, if you had the drop on someone you could potentially take them out before they had a chance to summon their Persona.

I like both ideas, Brother, so decided to go with one you suggested. See what you think.

Alright now if that's your decision, let's work on balancing it abit. Put a distance between you and the opponent where this will work. Also make sure it only works on the opponent and not their Persona or any extension of their body such as a Shadow Weapon -etc etc.

The distance I'd recommend is probably close range so around 15 feet to keep it abit more on the fair side since it's Tier 1.

Make sure you also need to be able to see the opponent for the eye to work. If you put these nerfs on it, I could see you turning it into an actual skill that you can use and keep active for three posts before giving a cool down before reactivating again.

Passive skills are good and whatnot, but if you burn meter for the skill it gives you more control over when you want to use it. I'd recommend you putting a cost on it.

Outside of battle it seems abit too strong. I'd just broaden the horizons on what you can see instead of trying to make it a full out premonition skill that can boost the chance of metagaming. Maybe even change the use of it out of battle entirely if you need too, since it's a tough skill to really make without it being metagame. Do you have any other ideas or do you want me to try and think of something for you?

Alright I'll be using Naito for this first battle. We'll do a 1 vs 3 where I will obviously be destroyed haha. But this is just training. The strength and skill in question for mine will be:

—Strength Name: Iaido Swordsmanship
—Description: A modern Japanese martial art associated with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard or saya, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard. Iaido's emphasis on precise, controlled, and fluid motions allow Naito to attack brutally in strings before falling back to sheath his sword and prepare for the next attack. Naito is so proficient that he had won tournaments in his previous schools and gained a powerful reputation.

—Strength Name: Swift Assault
—Description: Naito is swift, allowing him to perform his attacks/defenses in rapid succession each post.

Human Skill

Human Skill Name: Summoned Swords
Persona Name: Jinmu-tennō
Tier: Tier 1
Cost: 15 SP
Type of Damage: Zio
Description: The User has the ability to create blades made of condensed lighting that can be controlled remotely. The blades can be touched by Naito without giving damage, however if anyone else touches it they will take Zio dex damage. The blades can be summoned and controlled close range (5ft) around the body. However, if they are away from the body by 15ft they will disperse. The swords last for 3 posts. For now, he can only summon two swords at a time.

The location will be an average grassy plain for this fight. Grass is only 3 inches from the ground. The Sun is hanging high north in a clear sky. I'll let you all do your posts first.

It was a nice day with the sun shining on the blue sky dotted by the white clouds. The grass was great too, but they would be trodden down by feet in each step. There would be the four of them. Three against one and for what reason? Shin circled around the individual, known as Naito, away at a distance of fifteen feet. As Naito wielded a katana, Shin brandished dual arming swords that both have their tapered tip pointed at the katana wielder. Each sharp edged pieces of metal in Shin's hand was about three feet in length.

For what Shin is doing, he is waiting for someone to make the first move.

OOC: I guess this is good enough to start with? Also I want to know more about your lightning swords, Term. If we block/parry/attack them with our soulbound weapons, then do they shock us? Also can you shoot them out like Vergil?

So... It's come down to this. Naito had challenged him along with two others to a face-off without Personas... This should be interesting. After all, Caestus had made a name and a career without using his persona all that often. And could he resist the opportunity to fight a potentially really strong opponent like this young man? Of course not. Normally, he would've preferred this to be a one on one, but alas... There were two others with him. But hey, as long as they didn't get in his way, things should be fine...

The android put on those leather gloves before summoning his soulbound weapon, the Star Cestus on them. The solid metal plates covering his hands glittered from the sun's light. "Alright then, Naito. You brought this on yourself." Although, this should prove entertaining if nothing else. It wasn't like this was a battle to the death. At least... Not yet. Caestus raised his fists, taking a fighting stance, waiting for someone to make their first move, and then acting from there... If nothing happened... He might be the one to lead the assault. Not a scenario he was confident in, but it will have to do.

The field was quiet. The grass swaying and the clouds above rolling by lazy in the blue sky. The breeze was gentle to those it touched and the sun warm and bright. The place was peaceful in appearance, but if one looked carefully enough, the field was far from that. On the field were already three fighters, a young man with a blade in his hand, an android that looked like he specialized in hand-to-hand combat, and another male that looked like he was a dual wielder of some sort. Hidden eyes would mark two of these collected warriors as allies and the one the pair surrounded as the foe.

The air was tense as everyone held their breath seemingly waiting for someone else to take the lead. A foolish thing or a wise thing was left up to the one viewing the sight, but to Sephtis this mattered not as he approached the opponent, his strange tail swishing lightly from side-to-side as he moved. When he hit the 20 ft range, he would summon the strange, yet beautiful sword called Anteria, the skulls seeming to shift in the carved flowers that surrounded them as the pendant at the end of the hilt jingled lightly with each sway of the chain.

Sephtis:

At the 15 foot mark, Sephtis would pause for a moment as he did an odd thing. He would place his sword in the ground and then getting on his tipy-toes he would stretch his petite frame with a quiet yawn. However, on the relax stage of such a move the guy would become a moving blur as he pushed off the ground, taking up his sword as he did and going towards the young man at an inhuman speed. When he was within striking range, his speed would slowly only slightly as he brought his sword up in a powerful upward diagonal strike aiming to strike the boy starting from his right hip and cut up at angle to his left shoulder. Practice or not, he took the battle seriously and would show no mercy to the foe.

The battle began and the one that used a curved blade was first to move. And to Shin's surprise, the distance closed so rapidly that he could scarcely believe his eyes. But, this was no time to gawk at the sight. This was a battle to win. Immediately, Shin closed in towards Naito. He had no enhanced speed of sorts, but at best he can close half the distance at the moment. The dual swordsman moved to Naito's left. There wasn't much he could do at this distance. But--

Holding his right blade over the shoulder, Shin threw it at Naito's left side at the moment when the katana wielder just finished his combination. It spun vertically at a dangerous speed. It didn't matter if the sharp point or the edge would hit him. So as long as it interrupted him.

It was all that Shin could do at this moment, other than continuing to run up to Naito. And, of course, summoning his sword back to his right hand.

So Sephtis had decided to go for the first assault, eh? That certainly saved him the effort of doing so himself. It looked like he had underestimated his foe's battle capabilites a little, but... Luckily for him, Shin was there to cover for her. And not wishing Sephtis assault to go to waste he would make Naito force to deflect the blade... That would be the best course of action.

The android crouched down, generating Gemstones from the palms of his hands, forming it into a small, spiky object about the same size as a tennis-ball. Dense and compact it was indeed, and pretty difficult to throw very far for a regular human...

But Caestus was far from human...

A quick glance at the area was all he needed to know exactly how much force, and at which angle he would need to toss the mine in order for it to land where he wanted... It's 1.3 meter detection radius being a mere inch away from where Naito currently was standing... Should he wish to parry the blade from Shin, he would leave himself open to Sephtis... Should he try and stop the android's assault, Shin's blade would most likely hit him... And if he wished to dodge both of them, he would trigger the mine, and take a massive blast of Sharp Gemstone fragments all over... Caestus hurled the spiked mine over to the desired location, before attempting to close in on the distance... Following Shin. They couldn't rob him of all his fun, now could they?

So Naito... Pick your poison... Sephtis, Shin's blade or a healthy dose of Gems?
