A Party of Corpses [Shunny, Open]

As the young idol left, Shunnosuke remained thinking about what could the great prize be. He really had no big expectations about its value and seriously doubted that prize would be something "special" as she said or noteworthy; nonetheless the girl's words have awakened his curiosity. Mainly the last two, who got him wondering not only about that change of pace and sudden (and should say, unwelcome) proximity, but about the meaning behind that sentence. "Bottom left"? Was that a charade...?

When Chris inquired about the contest and HANA's words, Shun turned to him, shaking his head in denial. — I assume that is not part of the contest. One of the rules is you should never take off your mask, therefore they wouldn't implement a contest where this very same rule is broken right off the bat. Plus...I wouldn't partake such vexing experience, please. — Perhaps his way of saying so was a bit arrogant, but really...bobbing apples? Or äpplen, as Chris said, though he didn't even mind the word mixing in light of how absurd that suggestion was. The second question, however, had a much more lighthearted tone to it that made Shun smile confidently. — Well, you can say I'm fairly used to meet celebrities. When your family is often in the spotlight of some events, to get in touch with idols and whatnot becomes already part of our regular schedule. — He replied to Chris's last question, smiling under his mask. — Still, I haven't met that girl until now. There's no reason to be worked up on meeting her. I mean...sure she's good-looking, but seriously, look at her. She's what, my age? Plus, it's not like she's a diva like Lady Gaga or Beyoncé. — He rolled his eyes, deridingly. Judging from the looks of it, he clearly was still bothered by the idol's previous behavior. More than that, the teenager was suspicious of something, muttering for himself: — "Bottom left"...that's probably a hint for something. Hey, Chris! — And with a single snap of his fingers, he called his fellow competitor. — Do you know what will the next round of this contest be about?

As if on cue, the speaker sounded while Chris was in mid shrug.

“The final ten contestants have been selected. We now ask that you all exit the dance floor while the next round is being set up. Once we are finished, you may re assemble in the center of the room.”

Chris followed the directions of the speaker and exited the dance floor. He was amazed at how nonchalantly Kurosawa could handle talking about such an obviously popular artist, but I suppose that if one is put in the situation enough, they will grow used to interactions with the famous. It had also surprised Chris how famous Kurosawa said that his family was. Chris had never been affluent and had never been around prominence. Sure, his family was pretty well off, but they were no millionaires. Chris was interested in what sort of business Kurosawa’s family was into and whether it was inherited wealth or earned, but now didn’t seem like the best time to ask any of those questions. Instead he stared blankly at the middle of the dance floor and asked “What do you think they are doing?”

Chris could see what they were doing. In the middle of the dance floor burly men were dragging coffins into different areas. Each man was directed by HANA. The bubbly pop star was throwing out commands and pointing in directions left at right; though, most of her orders seemed playful and whimsical. It seemed that she was giving her orders haphazardly behind a teasing face, but there was a serious look in her eyes that suggested that all of her commands were precise and calculated. It was magical, the way that she worked – and not because she was a magician. The placement of the coffins was perfectly ordered and every coffin was equally spaced apart. It didn’t take long for the large men to finalize the placements of the coffins and exit the dance floor. As soon as the last person – who happened to be HANA – had left the dance floor, the speakers roared once again.

“Contestants may now work their way back to the dance floor and face the bar in preparation for the next round.”

Chris did what he was told and stood with his front to the bar. HANA once again entered the dance floor. She was like a military sergeant, walking down the line and staring into each contestant’s eyes. Her demeanor was fierce and her gaze was relentless. One of the contestants looked away and she stared him down until he looked back. Her entire face was twisted in a serious shape. Chris was the most intimidated that he had ever been. She stopped right in front of Chris. His heart dropped, and the music that had continued playing in the background seemed to completely phase out – of course this was all in Chris’s mind.

“Alright, listen here maggots! Tonight, we are going grave digging! Those of you who find a Jack Frost doll in a casket move on! Those who don’t can get lost! Understand!?” her tone was stern, but still held a slight girlish charm, which allowed Chris to regain himself. She held up a Jack Frost doll that had been hidden behind her back. No one responded to HANA’s question.

“Good! Now you may find anything inside these coffins, but what you are looking for is the doll! Alright, dismissed!” She held her demeanor for a second longer, but noticing that no one had moved she gave a sigh and dropped her persona.

“Guys, that means go!~” and the rush began.

(Inside the caskets are fake bones, fake spiders, live worms, live cockroaches etc. and the contestant must dig through these in order to search for a Jack Frost doll. You can choose what your casket holds.)

(( First, I have to apologize for taking absurdly long to reply. I have many problems and zero will to do more than just small talk in the chatbox. But this won't happen anymore, promise. ))

Shunnosuke shrugged, "answering" Chris's inquire nonchalantly while following the guy in their exit from the dance floor. He was completely clueless about the next round and, judging from Chris's question, they both shared the same doubt. In truth, the boy wasn't really caring about the contest so far as the first stage was actually pretty easy to overcome, although holding his curiosity in his eyes as he stared at HANA giving instructions up and down to a bunch of muscular men. Nothing new under the sun, actually, he was used to do the same to his butlers and maids when his parents and grandparents weren't at home. "Meh...". Of course the boy was still a bit sour for partaking any more steps before being officially announced the winner. Why bother? That would be an easy win anyway, those rounds were just delaying the unavoidable.

— Maggots...? Who's she calling "maggots"...? — His countenance was obviously a bit annoyed at the use of that expression. Her manners seemed to have changed considerably, from the bubbly, upbeat girl to a bossy, belittling jerk. All the teenager could do was raising an eyebrow, perhaps taking HANA's more seriously than he should, due to his naturally uptight nature. At least, her final command was to dismiss the crowd and give start to the second round of that contest.

— All this job to find a single doll. You better be a charmeuse silk doll, for real. — With his arms crossed, he proceeded to get closer to the caskets, examining their contents. Some other competitors went ahead and, while Shunnosuke couldn't notice their faces expressing whatever feelings they had for such task, he was the only one still hesitating to put his hands inside the containers once he knew what that challenge was about. Good thing he was wearing a mask by now, so nobody else could see how extremely disgusted the teenager was. — Okay... breathe... inhale, exhale, they're just cockroaches. Just... cockroaches... nothing more than... disgusting... despicable... cockroaches... yeah... — Good thing he hasn't eaten anything, or by now he'd be throwing up everything under that thought. And as much as he disliked those gross insects, he dislike losing even more. If it weren't for his pride, he wouldn't have swallowed his loathing and went forth, placing his hands inside the nearest casket — oddly the one nobody picked, full of cockroaches roaming around. — Chriiis...come on, what are you waiting for give me some help here? — He asked, less authoritatively than pleading. One thing was sure...those gloves would be thrown to an oven immediately after that party.~
