A nap in the cold (Maya)

Once again, Retuo found himself right back in the Highrise in spite of how much a part of him wished he didn't have to be here. Unfortunately, he could not stay away from the area for too long if he wanted to keep himself up to date on the happenings here as not even the communication device Armando gave him back then had enough of a reach for him to be able to wander far and still know about the state of things. Until the group had either safely gotten out of here, or the worst happened and they didn't make it, he was going to have to contend with frequenting the harsh colds more often than he would have liked. Hopefully, it would at least increase his resistance to regular chill temperatures if nothing else. In a way, snow was actually useful for it could be melted to get water easily among other things, so the existence of this area was by no means for naught even as unpleasant as an extended say in it could feel.

That said, having recently walked over from the Dryrange area, the combination of the trip and the large jump in temperature left the man somewhat tired out, which eventually led to him flopping down on a random bench-like structure in the park area. Honestly, he couldn't even be bothered to seek cover inside at the moment. He wouldn't actually freeze as long as he didn't do the stupid thing and fall asleep out here. Not that he was comfortable enough to manage that, to be truthful. Still, he could afford to take a moment to rest, right?

If anyone were to come around nearby, they'd find themselves treated to a somewhat strange sight of the tall man half curled up on a broken bench and seemingly dozing off at first glance.

Maya was running, she hadn't seen the demon.. hadn't heard it, but when it tackled her and sent her flying she was aware of it then, it was impossible not to be, thankfully the initial tackle had knocked her clear of the demon and she had gotten up and was running through the snow trying to find a place to hide, to duck into to break contact with the demon wolf now chasing her, looking around she seen a place she could use, it would provide her cover and make it hard for the wolf like demon to get her. So the small Cyclops started to make her way there as fast as possible.

From a distance, the sounds of the snarling Demon could be heard, and if one was to look in the direction they would see a demon wolf, chasing after what seemed to be a child, the child trying to get to some rubble, likely to hide.

Back with Maya she didn't dare look back, she needed to keep her eye forward so she wouldn't trip on anything, but she could hear the demon slowly gaining on her, it was larger and that made it easier for it to move in this deep snow.

Tch...

And here he was almost getting comfortable even once his temperature settled with the numbing cold. Unfortunately, he couldn't really ignore the sounds of a demon nearby because that could be bad for him in case the creature decided to come in his direction. He wasn't really looking for a fight, and even if he had to do so, he's rather be ready than get ambushed in an unfavorable position.

Doing his best to ignore the irritation this sparked, he'd push himself to get up and off the bench, taking a couple moments to look around to locate where the noise was coming from exactly. "..." He definitely hadn't expected to see...a kid being chased around by what appeared to be a beast demon of some sort. Normally, he would have most likely opted to just quietly relocate elsewhere to avoid a confrontation, but he wasn't exactly so heartless that he'd willingly just leave someone else to possibly get killed when he had the option to do something. Guess he wasn't getting much of a break, huh?

There wasn't much he could do to really try to catch up fast, not when snow was a tough terrain to move through, so he would opt to attempt to distract the duo first. Maybe if they'd stop or turn their attention elsewhere for a moment, he could actually have time to think of what to do. Thus, he'd make a decently loud whistle sound in an attempt to grab some attention and see how the demon reacted to that.

Mika continued running and as she did the Demon was catching up, and just as it was about to bite down on the small girl, a loud shrill whistle was heard and the demon turned it's head, Maya on the other hand only continued to run to the outcropping or ruins, she didn't know what made that sound, but she had heard the Demon was right behind her and she wasn't about to stop to see what else was about to attack her.

As the demon looked over at Retuo it stopped in its tracks.. then it looked over at the girl it was chasing, then back to Retuo, it let out a growl and took a step towards Retuo.. but then it seemed to shiver? twitch? ether way it moved in an odd manner then looked back to the running girl and growled even louder and bolted after her once more.

Maya continued to flee, and just as she got to the Rubble, the Demon was nearly on her once more, and she started to wriggle her way under some of the debris, the Demon's claws raking her leg and making the little Cyclops let out a pained scream before she managed to get tucked into the rubble, as the demon tried to find a way to get to her.
