Someone was Busy (Maya/Cherry)

Maya had been busy since after the Human named Shiv had left, she had gone out several times, even going to farther area's to gather things to bring back, she didn't want Cherry to think her useless and then eat her or send her away.. after all Cherry must have been keeping her alive for some reason, if she didn't make herself useful Maya was sure she would be chased out or simply used to replace the food that she was taking up.

So she had been gathering, the Hard metal scraps she found, the red bags with crosses on them that had the bandages in them, water to drink, food, stones, sticks, damaged clothing, anything that could possibly be useful to the Non-human so that she wouldn't be thrown away or feasted on, and as she was sitting in the house where Cherry had first taken her, Maya looked around at the things that she put into rather neat piles.. and then to the fire she had going in a little hearth made of metal so as to not damage the house. The piles of things had a few items in them that had bites take out of them as well.. some stone.. metal.. wood.. clothing.. it seemed the little one had takes bites out of things to quiet her stomach when she was scavenging.

The Little Cyclops even had some of that Tea stuff being made, having memorized the plants the Human Shiv had used to make it, finding plants like it was hard but she managed to find some.. and so the little thing sat there waiting for her makeshift parka to dry once more so she could head out to gather more to add to the already prodigious Mounds of things inside the house now.

Ever since Cherry met the little one-eyed creature that called herself 'Maya' she has always lingered in her brain. Not in the forefront mind you, but in the back of her head she couldn't help but let a few thoughts rush by about her. Like if she was doing okay, if she was still in the same spot she showed her, if she was hungry, and more importantly what she was. And while it hadn't been all that long since the last time they met, Cherry still felt the strong need to check up on her. So she made the trip over to Maya's little 'hideout.' With some food in her backpack. Mostly made up of fruit and berries, she didn't know if Maya ate fruit or berries. But it couldn't hurt to try, heck maybe she'd end up loving the new food the teen brought her! The only real way to tell was to try it out after all. Softly knocking on the front door, Cherry would slowly opening it up and walk it. "Maya......... Me has som- Holy shit."

The young woman paused as she looked around the inside of her home. Utterly amazed in how she set everything up. It was truely impressive how much she got done in such a short amount of time, this girl was much more skilled then what Cherry gave her credit for. Even if many of the items had bite marks out of them........ Nevertheless, that didn't diminish the fact that it must have took some skill to make all of this. Plus knowing She'd eat anything made Cherry sure that she could feed fruit to her. "Maya did you ma- Oh um. Maya, did you............ Build.......... That?" She asked, pointing a finger at the little makeshift fireplace made out of metal.

"It is......... Good....... Maya did good job......... Very good job........."

Maya was enjoying the warmth of the fire, letting her feet warm up near it as she sat there wondering if she had gotten enough to not be considered for dinner, maybe it was enough? But looking back down tot he make shift hearth she assumed it wouldn't be, she would need to gather more to make sure the Non-human didn't eat her. it was during this musing that a knock came at the door and Maya leaped back from her sitting spot and landed on hands and feet positioned behind one of the piles, peeking over it ever so slightly, and then she heard the voice of Cherry and she was about to come out when Cherry said something loud and made the little Cyclops squeak suddenly.

She ducked behind the pile for a few moments before peeking back out from behind it, the look on Cherry's face was one of amazement and not anger or anything of the sort, maybe she had gathered enough? That was when Cherry started to talk and Maya listened to her, and she pointed to the fireplace, Maya nodded as she moved around from behind the pile she had been hiding behind and she sat back near the fire. and as Cherry said she did a good job Maya looked up at her surprised to hear such words.

"T..thank...y..you.." she said in that gentle whisper of a voice before she remembered something she wanted to tell her "Maya... m... met S... shiv.. Cherry...  friend?" she asked to confirm as she sat there and moved the pot off the fire, the tea in it having to sit a bit for her and Cherry to enjoy after a bit, it was what Shiv had taught her. or rather what she had seen Shiv do.

The blonde wasn't all that suprised that Maya was hiding behind some of the piles of clothing she had bult up, she was like a scared little kitten. Hopefully that would change the more Cherry spoke to the one-eyed shorty. But really only time would tell. "You........... Are............ Welcome......... How did........... You make this?" She ask in the normal slow and quiet tone of voice she always had to use when speaking with Maya. After her question Cherry moved over to the fire place, the girl making sure to point her wooden limb away from the flames and stay a decent distance away from it too. Since she wasn't eager to catch on fire today.

"Shiv?" Siobahn? Maya met Siobahn? Well that is nice! Her friends are all meeting each other! Cherry wouldn't have it any other way, although the teen was curious about how they met. Did Shiv wander over here, or was Maya wandering off somewhere? She had a feeling it was the latter since Maya had gathered so much supplies. While she was a little worried for the girl's safety, Cherry couldn't really blame Maya. If she was in her shoes she'd go out alot too. You can't just stay in one place all your life after all. That would just be way to boring. "Yes........ Shiv is my friend......... Good friend........ Was she nice........... To you?" Cherry didn't really know how that meeting would turn out honestly. Shiv was a very nice lady, but Maya was much less upfront and did have that creepy aura around her. The huntress may have gotten the wrong idea and acted brashly. Then again Maya did know her name, so they must have had a short exchange of words at the very least, that or Siobahn had recently started to speak in the third person.

Maya removing the pot from fire place reminded Cherry of why she came here in the first place. With a little "Oh right!" The taller girl took off her handmade bag and placed it right next to her. Unzipping it, she would pull out a collection of all different types of berries and fruit that Maya could munch on. "This is for Maya........... Maya eat these........... These taste good........... These are REAL food." She felt the need to put some emphasis on the word 'real' since it seemed that Maya had been eating alot of stuff that wasn't actually food.

Cherry had asked her how she made the Hearth and she pointed to the metal "Do... not... burn.." she then pointed to the building floor "Cherry... said... hurt... by.. fire.. but.. metal.. protect..." her whisper like voice able able to be heard despite the cold wind blowing against the building, but inside the building it felt rather warm, a lot warmer then outside at least.

on Cherry saying the name Maya had she looked back to the non-human, and she nodded "Chased.... first... but... not... Hurt... Maya" she said to assure Cherry she wasn't harmed by her friend, though at the time Maya was sure she would hurt her, most humans tended to. She then pointed to the tea "Taught... Maya... Tea" she said hopeful that this would make her more useful and so she wouldn't be eaten.

Then Cherry suddenly said something quickly and loudly and Maya flinched but didn't try to hide or run, instead she watched as Cherry opened the bag and showed her the berries and stuff and Maya looked at them then listened to Cherry talking about them she then nodded "Okay... Thank... You... you.. have... too?" she asked as she scooted over to give Cherry room by the fire.

The girl was slightly confused by the fact that Maya felt the need to explain how the metal would protect the wooden floor from the flames, she already knew that much and her question was about how the little girl had made the little fireplace. Not about what it did. But the cyclops didn't really have that clean of a grasp on english, and didn't even seem to understand french. So it wasn't like Cherry could get mad at her for the misunderstanding. If the teenager was a better teacher she would have to try her hand at tutoring her. Alass her teaching skills wasn't up to par, and she was sure Maya would come to better understand more english as time went on. Better not to make things more complex then they need to be.

"That's good......... Shiv is a nice woman........... Kind woman........" It seemed as if Cherry wasn't the omly one that was curious about Maya. It was actually pretty funny that both Siobahn and Cherry met the small lady in the same way. Mayya must have gotten quite used to being chased down by now. "Geez. I guess everybody but me knows how to make tea, huh?" Cherry muttered softly to herself. First Snow, Shiv and now Maya. It was quite odd that so many of her friends could make this drink. Although with Siobahn it made a bit more sense, after all she lived in a vault. The vault people probably knew how to make all sort of fancy drinks, and Cherry could only assume that Maya was a really good student with how she somehow learned how to make tea and a hearth since the last time they met. Unlike Cherry, who still failed at making tea, even with Snow helping her out.

She shook her head and held her flesh hand up, denying the offer to have some fruit with her. "This......... Is all.......... For you Maya............ You eat it all............ I would love.......... Some tea however." It would be nice to have a drink while she talked with her. "Maya I have a friend I'd like you to meet........... His name is Snow......... He is like you.......... He has no memories either." It wqs probably best for Cherry to tell her about Snow before she actually brought him here, it would probably go smoother that way.

Maya sat there looking somewhat pleased that it seemed she wouldn't be eaten and so she let herself react a bit, making that oddly purring like sound as she sat there near the fire, Though hearing that the food was all hers she looked at it then back to Cherry. Was she trying to make her larger so she was more filling when she was eaten? Maybe that was why Cherry hadn't hurt her before? No... wait that was silly.. wasn't it? Maya sat there looking very confused, there was all this food but Cherry didn't want any, she got it just for her?

Maya looked down at the food, it was more then she could normally collect on her own... and Cherry was just giving it to her? what did she do to earn that? was it the tea? no Shiv taught her how to make that... was it all the supplies? but none of it was as good as that much food was it? As she looked at the food silently even as Cherry continued talking tears started to slowly fall from her eye, she didn't even know why she was crying but she looked up at Cherry, she couldn't just take food from her. she wasn't giving anything back.

"N.. No... If...Ch...Cherry No.. Eat... Maya no Eat..." she said pushing the bag of food away, but she did take the time to take some bent metal she found... that likely had once been used as a pipe end cap or something, and she poured some of the tea into it, using bark from a tree to use to hold it, she then put it down near Cherry so she could grab the bark when she picked it up "Here... Tea" she said as she sat there and poured herself a 'cup' as well, doing much the same thing for her own drink.

Though then it seemed to register that Cherry had said she wanted her to meet someone "I...is friend?" she asked wiping the tears away for the time being still confused as to why she had been starting to cry in the first place.[/color]

Cherry could tell that something was a little off when Maya simply looked down at the food instead of reaching out to grab it or something like that. But Cherry wrote that off as the girl just being a tad paranoid about the food, she was easy to scare after all. It would make sense if she was a little wary of a free meal after all. Although Cherry was still pretty sadden by the fact that she didn't trust her enough to eat her food yet. Cherry couldn't help but think that maybe last time was just a fluke, that she only ate the bunny Cherry gave her because she was hungry. But before she could get too down in the dumps about it, Maya started to cry. A action that caught the larger girl totally off guard and blew her theory about why she wasn't eating out of the water.

Her mind raced with what she could have done to possibly offend the girl or scare her in anyway and yet she came up with nothing. Instead of just sitting there like a lump on a log and trying to think of what she could have done to upset her, Cherry moved forward to try and wipe some of the tears falling from her eye. "H-hey. Hey, hey, hey. Maya, no. It's okay don't cry, there's no reason to cry. Please don't cry!" After wiping away some of her tears and trying to cslm her down with words, the teen moved her hand over to the top of her head to rub and scratch at her scalp, hoping that it would serve to calm her nerves. "It's okay! L-look. I'll uh...... M-me eat.... Cherry do eat....... So Maya eat......." With that Cherry would scoop up a few berries and pop them in her mouth. She had no idea why not eating the food with Maya made her cry, but if eating with her would make it stop, she would gladly do so.

Cherry would grab ahold of the cup given to her, and would take a sip from it. "Thank you......... This is lovely......" Cherry was still worried about Maya's emotional state of affairs. But right now she choose to not make any futher comments about the subject. "Yes....... You is my friend." She said, flashing her a soft smile in hopes that it would raise her spirits. "You good friend.......... Good girl......... Cherry likes Maya........ Cherry cares about Maya.......... Wants Naya to be safe."

Maya sat there with Cherry trying to not cry, though she was still trying to figure out why she started to cry, but she sat near Cherry now and as the girl started to eat the berries Maya smiled and had some as well "Cherry.... eats... too.. so.. Maya.. not.. alone..." she said as she tried to stop crying still but she had a smile on her face as she sat there having tea and eating some berries, and making a sound that could only be described as purring.

As Cherry said the tea was good the purring sound got louder as Maya smiled more, "Is.. Maya...Useful?" she asked looking up at Cherry and as she spoke about liking Maya, she looked even happier and the purring sound got even louder as she sat there and she scooted closer to Cherry "Maya... glad... so ... not ... get... rid ...of Maya?" she asked.

So Maya would only eat the berries and fruit if Cherry was eating with her. That was very odd, but she was glad that the strange girl was at least eating now. Although she was still wondering about what caused her to girl. She did say something about eating 'alone' so did she feel alone? Really that was the only lead she could go off of at the moment. At least now she was in a good mood. What with her little smile and her........ Purring noise? Maybe the girl was part cat? Those animals where pretty easy to scare off from her experience so she could see it.

"Um, yeah? Yo- uh, Maya knows............ Useful skills........" This was all very weird. And the girl still couldn't wrap her head around what in the world was causing this small gal to act this way, but suddenly when Maya asked her second question it all clicked for her. The teen's eyes widen and she let out a slightly melancholic 'oh' in response to her. Was this all of her weird actions where all about? Was Maya scared that Cherry was going to leave her? "Of course not............ Maya is Cherry's friend............. Cherry never get rid of Maya..........." Cherry felt so bad for the shorter girl. She has felt insecure in the past, but never to the point where she was scared that somebody was going to get rid of her. She didn't want this poor girl to be thinking like this.

Cherry moved to pet her on the head like last time, hoping it would result in a positive outcome before she'd try her hand at dispelling these thoughts from her head. "Don't think like that............ Cherry doesn't like you because your useful............ Cherry likes you because you are Maya..........."

The small cyclops looked up at Cherry as she moved closer and she smiled hearing she wasn't going to be gotten rid of, well that was good it means Cherry wasn't going to chase her away or eat her right? Right? But... but what if that was the use Cherry was thinking Maya would have? No Cherry said they were friends she said she wouldn't get rid of her. Maya continued to make that odd purring noise and as Cherry got closer and raised her hand Maya's eye focused on that raised hand and she watched it come down, and as it was placed on her head she purred more and closed her eye though this close now Cherry could see that the purring was actually Maya gently grinding her teeth in her mouth, she was tooth purring, much like a rabbit did when happy.

Though when Cherry said she liked Maya for her being her, the smaller girls eye opened and she looked up at Cherry a loot of astonishment, and she was astonished, why would someone like her for her? most hated her for no reason to begin with.... and the little Cyclops started to cry again, and again she didn't know why... she wasn't sad or in pain.. but she sat there looking up at Cherry "Cherry...i..is Maya's.. friend too... Maya... like Cherry... cause Cherry is Cherry..." she said in little whimpers but she was smiling the whole time.

The one-eyed girl really was acting like a animal, purring even more and more as Cherry comforted her. Even going so far as to grind her teeth together, now she didn't really know much about rabbits, even less about what they do when happy. Since she mostly only watched the cute, fluffy creatures from afar, that or trying to kill and eat them. But Cherry could tell that Maya did seem to be pretty happy at the moment, even if she couldn't imagine her grinding her teeth like that could be good for her health. Then again Cherry had no leg to stand on when it came to lecturing other people about dental hygiene, so she just left it be for now, after all there was so many question marks surrounding Maya. There was no real way to tell what was and wasn't good for her health, for all the blonde knew this teeth grinding could be very good for her.

A slight smile forms on her face as Maya says her peace. It seemed that her crying was more about tears of joy, rather then sadness or sorrow or anything of the sort. "Thank you Maya." Cherry said, before reaching over to pop a blueberry into her mouth. After which she'd make a move to try and catch the tears flowling from her rather large eye. Once she had stopped crying and had calmed down a bit, Cherry would try to steer the conversation into a less intense direction. "How is............ The food?" She wanted to have a chat about her nature, but right now didn't seem like the right time for that type of talk. She'd just have to push that topic to the side until a better moment showed itself.

Maya sat happily, it felt safe here, and it was a nice feeling as she ate more of the berries and drank some of the Tea she made, quite glad to hear Cherry wouldn't be getting rid of her, that just meant she would have a safe place to stay, but then... if Cherry kept her around.. she would need to find more food for Cherry.. she noticed Cherry called this real food.. could Cherry not eat like her? The Cyclops looked around at all the things she had gathered, she hadn't been to picky cause she thought Cherry could eat the same things she could, but it looked like that wasn't the case.

Looking back up at Cherry a small worried look on her face Maya answered the question "Is... good... but.. should... save... for... Cherry... Maya... can eat... this.." she said as she picked up a piece of brick and took a bite out of it as easily as she had taken bites out of the berries and she chewed it up and swallowed with seemingly no trouble at all If.... Cherry... can.... only... eat... this... Then... Maya... save... for... Cherry" she said looking up to the taller girl

Cherry couldn't help but wince as she saw Maya bite down on the brick. She was already aware of her frankly mind bogglingly strong jaw strength, but that didn't make the sight any less impressive or worrying. She really hoped that her teeth can withstand this kind of punishment, because if not then she was really going to whine up regretting it when she got older. But really the most important question was if this girl could would be able to live off of this. Sure it didn't seem to harm her stomach or throat in anyway, but who knows if this was going to kill her in the long run. Then again this wasn't her body, it probably wasn't wise for Cherry to assume things about it. "Does......... That............ Hurt?" Cherry asked, pointing towards the brick.

The girl would nod her head as she scooped some berries off of the floor and piled them into her mouth. After chewing and eating them, she'd let out a hum. "Cherry no eat rocks.......... Cherry only eat fruit and meat........... Sometimes special drinks.........." As Cherry told her about this, a question popped into her mind, one that might be a good way to ease her into a discussion about what she could be. "What all.......... Can Maya eat.......?"

Maya was happy, she had food, she had a warm cave.. building.. that's what Cherry called it.. and she had this yummy tea and had made herself useful.. and it sounded like Cherry wouldn't get rid of her at all so maybe she was finally safe? But.... What if something destroyed the building? What if something attacked Cherry? She didn't know what to do then.. What if Cherry got attacked and hurt while she was Away and Maya never seen her again? She started to dwell on these but then was pulled out of her thoughts when Cherry asked her a question and she looked at the brick then to Maya again "No.... not... hurt..." she answered.

Seeing Cherry eat she felt a bit safer, it was good to see Cherry eating, but then she said she doesn't eat rocks, she ate fruits and meat.. Maya blinked as she looked at her as she was then asked what she can eat, she then pointed to each thing as she spoke "Metal... Stone... Brick... Wood... Wearing things.... Meat... Maya can't not eat things..." she said looking back up at Cherry.
