| Subject: In Pursuit of Greatness - Achievement System Revamp Sun Jun 13, 2021 5:41 pm | |
| Hello! I honestly should make these updates a weekly occurence at this point. (Seriously considering it, as there's still plenty left to be done). Today, I wanted to talk about a part of the site which existed arbitrarily, and was slapped on at the end of each plotline, which was the Achievement System, which was supposed to reward the players who stuck around the longest (other than seeing the story come to an end, which is in and of itself a reward). They ranged from doing rather menial things, like Unlocking your persona, to doing major plotline things, or doing some combat related stuff. While the system is ultimately arbitrary and lacked a purpose, I feel there's a value in having personal goals to chase, aside from just growing stronger, and proceeding with the narrative. An Achievement System which could reward players AS THEY PLAY through the plot could potentially be a lot more meaningful (And makes Achievement Hunting an actual thing you can partake in, rather than the goals being tied to the End of a big plotline.) So what's actually happening here? Well... (Re)Introducing: The Achievement BoardIn Paris 2054, there's yet another avenue to take in regards to power progression and such, and that's the new achievement system. Each Achievement will have its own reward, either in form of EXP, some special item, or sometimes even both. They come in 3 Categories: Potential, Social, and Challenges:
- Potential: These Achievements are pretty self-explanatory: Leveling up your Potential, reaching certain Level Thresholds, defeating Special Enemies, Evolving your Potential and so forth. Everything tied to your Character's Progression in terms of Power is catalogued here.
- Social: Social Achievements are tied to the people you meet, Social Links you forge, Team Skills, and all the ups and downs of your character's social life. Things like Maxing out a single social link, Uncovering vital information about one of the NPCs, or see the Story Arc of a NPC through from start to finish (Like Repairing Abzu). Things like that.
- Challenges: The Challenges are SPECIFICALLY tied to Demon Hunts, Normal Dungeons and later on the Big Raids. These are typically hidden until their source is made available through the story. These can be straightforward, like completing the Optional Objective in a Demon Hunt, or difficult to complete, requiring the team to take a boss and fight it in a more difficult way, or running through Demon Hunts or Dungeons Solo to completion.
Challenge Sets and TitlesIn regards to the Challenge Achievements, some of them come in Sets (Usually tied to one of the Dead Zones, or whatever replaces them in the future). Completing a Challenge Set earns you a Rank Title on the Site, as reward for going the Extra Mile of earning it. This is purely to flex and show off, as the Challenge Achievements give enough Rewards on their own. Once a Dead Zone's storyline has finished, and there's nothing left there, you can no longer earn the Associated Title. While the Achievements themselves remain hidden, I'm going to show off the Actual Titles themselves, and what they're tied to: Kingslayer - Earned by completing the Associated Challenge Set for The Eclipse Lightbringer - Earned by completing the Associated Challenge Set for The Bellows. Sunbreaker - Earned by completing the Associated Challenge Set for the Dryrange Vistas. Saviour - Earned by completing the Associated Challenge Set for The Cradle. Wyrmender - Earned by completing the Associated Challenge Set for The Napolean Highrise. Praetorian - Earned by completing the Associated Challenge Set for The Fields of Glass. [UNKNOWN] - This Data Entry remains Obscured.
Worth noting is that, due to the Forumotion Restrictions, a player can only display one title. As such, once you've earned a title, you can no longer earn a new one, until the current plot is finished. And that's it for this minor Update. Achievements will be rolling out over the next couple of weeks (Most likely every weekend, there will be a new category finished, with the exception of the Challenge Sets, which are all tied to content not yet released.) I figured I should give you all something to be excited about, regarding a feature we've yet to use. I hope you all like it. It's not a mandatory thing to work with, but it's nice to have tangible goals to work towards. Happy Hunting. ~ Jerry. | |
