Aftermath [Retuo/Armando]

"That is, if our paths would even cross. I don't know what became of him after we left, and honestly, I'd rather it stay that way." He shuddered at the thought of learning what had come to be of their old Mayor. Whatever the demons had planned for him, it could hardly be pleasant, given what they had done to his peers back home. Cruelty seemed to flow in their blood. This vile thirst for violence that could simply not be quenched, except through death. At least, the demons that Retuo and his band of people with powers had dispatched... didn't seem to move after. So it was fair to say that the demons could indeed be hurt, and killed, much like any other human or animal. It just seemed more difficult to slay one of them as opposed to a random cat or dog.

"Well, I guess in your case, and now ours, we kind of have to adapt. The world around us isn't exactly the friendly place it supposedly used to be, if Bryn is to be believed. That old man was around before the Vaults closed, you know." Granted, the old man had still been very young at the time. Younger than Armando himself, he'd wager. The old man spoke highly of the so-called "golden years." A title he had given the times himself, no doubt. Rose-tinted glasses maybe? But surely, it had to be better than whatever hellhole they lived in now.

"Yeah, the thought's certainly crossed my mind once or twice." Armando's head sunk heavily down towards the ground. "Hell, I've even wondered if its someone in my own group who did it. Though it certainly feels wrong, y'know. To suspect one of your own to be behind something like this? We lost so many. Countless lives snuffed out, all because of one, or perhaps more people, wanted out." A deep sigh escaped his lips. How many nights hadn't he spent out here now with Rosario, talking about things like this? Felt like every night. The two had been out on overwatch uptop the hotel though, and not down here.

"Lets hope we don't have to go there anytime soon then. I think we might've had some tools like that back in Lemuria, although, I wouldn't go back there if I were you. Strong as you are, that place is practically a nest. I took a peek back there a few days ago, and trying to sneak in there would be downright suicide." The place had been teeming with demons, most likely still looking for survivors like Rosario and Armando. "Though, I guess if you were quiet enough, and with a bit of luck, you could very well sneak into the maintenence shafts around the Vault. While risky, that could provide a way in and out without detection." He said thoughtfully. "Though I wouldn't call taking on such a risk worth it for just a few gas masks, unless they'd be really that important." He chuckled hollowly. "Don't worry about that for now. I'd say, go get some rest, my friend. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. Lots to do."

"Fair enough." Sometimes, it was the better option to simply let go. There was no guarantee they'd ever meet him again regardless, and that was assuming he had survived somehow and didn't just end up getting killed alongside all those other people. Demons certainly weren't merciless at times, and honestly...for some people death may even be a better fate than the demons taking interest in them.

Retuo would blow out a bit of frosty air in a huff. "From my understanding, the world certainly used to be better than it is now...but I find it hard to believe it was a perfectly friendly place. I think it never is, because even us humans are very capable of hurting each other. Demons can do it easier because they're built that way by nature, but we're often no saints either." As unfortunate as it was, there were always issues afoot, even when demons weren't involved. He didn't doubt that life was better before the Fall, but it most likely hadn't been a wonderland either. "Mm...It's not a pleasant thought, no." He'd glance towards the man with a faint frown. "It's unfortunately possible though. Sometimes all it takes is one person, and everything falls apart due to their actions..." It could have been someone from the inside, and it could also have been a coincidence that the demons chose their Vault to attempt to take down that day for whatever reason. It would take more information to be able to make a solid claim.

"Well no, I certainly don't wish to be reckless and die just for a few supplies that may prove to not be necessary. I don't think that at this point in time we're prepared enough to attempt to sneak into a place overflowing with demons. That could be an easy death wish. Especially since the attack is still recent and they will likely be on lookout for anyone around for a while." He certainly didn't wish to overestimate his limits. Even with powers, it was not a smart plan to undertake. Maybe later on, but not right now.
