The Aftermath

Mae woke up in her room, drenched in sweat. A terrible nightmare had haunted the pinkette in her sleep. That bull, all the things she had seen. Was she going insane?


This wasn't the first time Mae had this nightmare. Yesterday night had been the same. Qilin had all the right to be worried. The last two nights after her awakening had been less than pleasant, to say the least. // Yeah... I don't care what anyone says... The things I've seen truly is the stuff of nightmares... Sure, I'm glad you're here with me. Going through this alone would've been impossible for me. //

The girl took a look at her watch. 2:36 AM. At least she had gotten 5 hours of sleep this time around... A big improvement from yesterday night. But the nightmares wasn't the biggest of her worries... Everything she had seen on that broadcast made so much more sense now that she had learned about this other world, and Qilin's, existence. All the more reason to worry about her friends that had been mentioned in the broadcast... Did they also have the same power as her? This Persona stuff? The thought had been nagging on her mind for the last couple of hours since her awakening. And there were so many more things that was yet unclear to Mae. The Girl on the broadcast for instance... Who was she? And what was her role in all this? Maybe her friends knew more on the matter... But how should she break the news of her freshly attained Persona User status? Julian knew of course, but the others? Did they even know eachother to begin with?


Qilin's soft voice echoed inside Mae's head. // I know... It's just difficult when these nightmares keep haunting my sleep... Why can't they just go away? I've already accepted my other self. You are proof of that... So why does she still haunt my dreams? // Mae groaned with frustration and slammed her head against the pillow. // I just want to get some sleep, damn it! //

Frustrated, Mae rose up from her bed, and walked up to her laptop, and started it. Now that she had gotten a bit more knowledge, maybe she should watch the Broadcast again, to see if things made more sense now...


Qilin asked curiously. // I'm gonna go watch that broadcast again... // the pinkette replied.


// Oh yeah, I completely forgot. You haven't seen it! Well, all the more reason to watch it i suppose. Maybe we could brainstorm a little afterwards. //

And thus, she started up the video again, and the two proceeded to pay attention the girl on screen as much as possible, so they wouldn't miss any details.


// Yeah, but it still doesn't make much sense at all... I feel like we're missing a big piece of this puzzle. Hopefully Julian can provide answers... I hate to bother him with this, but he's the only one I can ask right now... Well, there's Sharaku and Hyde as well, but I don't think either of them are aware of the fact that I'm one of them... At least not yet. // And with that, Mae closed her laptop, and proceeded to go back to bed. She really was tired, and it didn't take long before her eyes closed and everything turned pitch black... Hopefully the nightmares would stop... They had to. She couldn't keep this up much longer, unless she wanted sleep-depravation to kick in...

Slowly, Mae's consciousness drifted away to a faraway land, and all that could be heard after that was her gentle breathing, as the girl had now fallen asleep...
