Base of OperationsFor every entrepreneur and ambitious individual, there's always a need for a piece of land to establish a base of operations. While every Player can have their own home to start with, sometimes they will need a bigger space to facilitate the creation and maintenance of certain businesses. Player shops come with their own base of operations that is fully paid by their monthly rent thanks to Government incentives. But where they start out at is their choice. Some areas may have their benefits and others have their downsides. This may change overtime based on the long time effects of everyone's business there and site-wide plot events.
Guilds, however, will have to pay for their own plot of land/rent costs to establish their base of operations. For a Guild to exist, a base of operations isn't entirely necessary. But it is good to have some place to take storage of your spoils from dungeons and establish some place for ease of business. There are also some ups and downs to establishing a base in certain areas of the cities too. So it is best to choose wisely. Upon buying said plot of land, you are able to create a dungeon map of your Base. The size and floors you are able to make is dependent on how much you are willing to fork over in cash and the inherent characteristics of your land. This does not mean it inherently makes it a Domain Dungeon either. You are able to create rooms in your base however you like within said limitations.
Lawbreaker gangs will have to pose as some legitimate business or maybe sometimes they can just simply buy the land for their own purposes outside of mainstream business practices. Whatever the case, you will have to be careful when law enforcement start poking around on any reason to have suspicion of your operations. Like Guilds, you are able to create a dungeon map too with similar limitations.

Your First Shop will have existing cost equal to 5,000 VC down payment for first time businesses regardless of listed cost. However, the existing building will be of Acceptable Quality and small for the time being, this includes Land Size being small as well. The LandThe Land in Shangri-la is already special to begin with as many can attest. But beyond its benefits to the Supernaturally Awakened, it is also the land of opportunity with profits to be made and goals to reach. Each piece comes with its own price tag that is decided upon land speculation. This may include existing built facilities, the quality of the land, the effects from their surroundings, and other various factors.
District 1: Known as the Tower District, District 1 is where there is the hustle and bustle of activity. There is so much going on that it is one of the beating hearts of the economy. With such higher security compared to other districts, the threat of Tears to the area's economy is much lower compared to other districts. This is also the place where you may try your hand at these lucrative government contracts with enough reputation. Though the costs of setting up shop here may be too high of a price for some. If that doesn't deter people from it, the fierce competition may.
- Cost: +10k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional +10k VC per bigger sizes.
- Advantage 1: Government contracts can be sought here. You may try to reach out to NPCs or they may reach out to you based on your Reputation. These contracts are special orders that must be completed for a huge reward. They can be negotiated.
- Advantage 2: High security normally ensures your business will be safe from random Tears. Plot Events not applicable.
District 2: Oceanside District is what connects Shangri-la to the rest of the World. Of course, the transportation and logistic business thrives here. You do need to get your goods to your customers to make revenue. The district is still a very homely place that is open to business-minded individuals. It also opens up a market to individuals outside of Shangri-la who may take interest in your goods/services. While prices here may be manageable here, you may have to deal with criminal elements who may be out to extort you for 'protection'. Though at least it is cheap to hire help in these places.
- Workforce Cost: -5k to -10k VC for applicable NPC Worker in pay upfront and salary only.
- Advantage 1: You may get customers from outside of Shangri-la interested in your wares. Depending on individual land and shop rank, up to an additional 10 NPCs may buy from your randomized wares.
- Risk 1: You may need to pay criminal elements who may extort you for 'protection'.
District 3: The Boonies, as the more metropolitan types like to call it, has always been an agricultural site for Shangri-la. But it boasts an impressive food supply output. The District has very low cost of land and rent which may be perfect for businesses, but not great when attracting customers as not many people wish to live here or even travel to the area. But it also makes it easy for some businesses to gain some easy access to raw material foodstuffs here at lowered cost. It is also closest to the Underworld to gain some access to their dungeon spoils. Unfortunately, this also means they have the risk of being the first district to be attacked should demons/shadow hordes spill out of the Underworld. To make some matters worse, it maybe more difficult to hire some people to a business which may drive up costs.
- Cost: -10k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional -10k VC per bigger sizes.
- Workforce Cost: +5k to +10k VC for applicable NPC Worker in pay upfront and salary only.
- Advantage 1: You may have 25% reduced maintenance monetary costs when in maintenance.
- Risk 1: Should a Stampede Event occur, you may be put in an extended maintenance period if your business is one of the many hit. This may last up to a month.
District 4: One of the many new districts that sprung up. The population is small, but has potential to grow. Which means while returns in your business is low, it will grow exponentially should that potential be realized. There are some criminal elements strolling in, but they have yet to gain any lasting power in this district. The costs have been made reasonable to allow the growth of business. Due to its close proximity to the Boonies, it benefits from easy access to raw material foodstuffs and some dungeon spoils. But it has the risk of being the second district to be hit when demons/shadows spill out of the Underworld.
- Cost: -5k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional -5k VC per bigger sizes.
- Advantage 1: You may have 25% reduced maintenance monetary costs when in maintenance.
- Risk 1: Should a Stampede Event occur, you may be put in an extended maintenance period if your business is one of the many hit. This may last for a month.
- Risk 2: -25% number of NPC shoppers per month for newcomers.
District 5: A new district that is still growing, but somewhat lacking in population. Like its new district brethren, it has high potential to bring in profits as more people come to settle here and do business. But this means criminals also have a significant chance to fester here. The costs have been made reasonable to allow the growth of business.
- Cost: -5k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional -5k VC per bigger sizes.
- Risk 1: -25% number of NPC shoppers per month for newcomers.
District 6: The last of the new districts established. It has the same potential and the downsides of criminal elements. But due to its close proximity to the Fitzgerald District, it shares some benefits with it.
- Cost: -5k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional -5k VC per bigger sizes.
- Advantage 1: You may be able to partner with higher quality of businesses and establishments that have much to offer to your business. Whether it be through establishing a new supply chain or even sharing research, the nature of the agreements will rely on your reputation/notoriety. This also includes how well your shop is doing including your shop rank.
- Risk 1: Should a research accident occur, you may be put in an extended maintenance period if your business is one of the many hit. This may last up to a month.
District 7: The Fitzgerald District is a recent district that became the one shining jewel in the trough that was once Shangri-La prior the arrival of the Fitzgerald Family. It goes without saying that business and research thrives here. This also includes entertainment industries which come to fill every want and desire of any who come to enjoy themselves. Competition is on another level compared to most districts and the cost of land can be near astronomical.
But you have the benefit of going on contracts with established research facilities, share research with respected professors, perform in the greatest entertainment establishments, or even curry favor with the Fitzgerald's. At the same time, you may run into the chance of a scientific research gone wrong...
- Cost: +10k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional +10k VC per bigger sizes.
- Workforce Cost: +5k to +10k VC for applicable NPC Worker in pay upfront and salary only.
- Advantage 1: Special contracts can be sought here. You may try to reach out to NPCs or they may reach out to you based on your Reputation. These contracts are special orders that must be completed for a huge reward. They can be negotiated.
- Advantage 2: You may be able to partner with higher quality of businesses and establishments that have much to offer to your business. Whether it be through establishing a new supply chain or even sharing research, the nature of the agreements will rely on your reputation/notoriety.
- Risk 1: Should a research accident occur, you may be put in an extended maintenance period if your business is one of the many hit. This may last up to a month.
Underworld: The true beating heart of Shangri-la. The spoils to be gained here is the very lifeblood that keeps the city going. Nearly every Hunter sets foot here to make a name for themselves. Others come here for an opportunity. Land can be cheap here, but you run into the chances of Hunters fighting breaking out or even Demon/Shadows popping up to cause mayhem. The amount of competition to be had here for Guilds are unspeakable due to the rush to becoming the penultimate Guild. It will be easy to hire people as Guild members, making it less costly to induct them to respective Guilds.
- Cost: -10k VC for Down Payment for Small Lands. Additional -10k VC per bigger sizes.
- Workforce Cost: -5k to -10k VC for applicable NPC Worker in pay upfront and salary only.
- Advantage 1: You may have 25% reduced maintenance monetary costs when in maintenance.
- Risk 1: Your business is at risk of being destroyed by either a Stampede, strange supernatural events, or even Hunters breaking out into a fight. You may be put in an extended maintenance period if your business is one of the many hit. This may last up to a month.
