Everlong Daycare (Morning Work Thread)

It had been a very pleasant morning, the sun was nice and bright and the cityscape of Endymion looked a little more colourful than usual today. Hopefully it’d look the same over at Sunlake Palms which was where Callie was heading over to, that part of the city was always nice to be around, maybe it’d be even better on a day like this! The young girl had received word recently that there were a couple kids in need of looking after on certain days of the week, these kids were very young, much younger than herself at least. Strangely she had met them a few times on her walks about the place and even joined in a game of hide and seek with them a month or so back. As such, she decided to go and see if their parents would be okay with her looking after them for the hour or so they needed to be looked after for, they were a little iffy with the idea at first given Callie herself was still a teenager, though due to knowing her previously and knowing how well she acted with children they decided to give her a chance. Though they weren’t allowed to leave the house, which was fair enough. What the young vixen had planned for entertainment didn’t require them to go outside anyway!

After arriving, being told exactly what she needed to do and waving off the kids parents, Callie would head to the living room and sit down calling out. “Hey Calvin, Joe, come over here I got a story to tell ya I’m sure you’ll love~!” The girl would giggle warmly as the two boys hurried over to sit cross legged on the floor in front of her, both leaning forwards eagerly anticipating the story. They’d heard some of Callie’s silly stories before and they always seemed to enjoy them a lot, and Callie loved making them up so this was a fun way to keep the two under control.

“Which story are you going to tell us, Miss Callie?” Calvin would question eagerly.

“Oh, oh! Is it the one about the flying pirate ship again?” Joe chimed in just as excitedly.

“Hehe, nope~! I got a new special story for the two of you today, one I’m sure you haven’t heard before! I hope you enjoy it.” Callie began, a beaming smile on her face which was returned by the two young boys. “Just like the rest, this story begins in the land of Everlong, where the ever loving, ever cheerful Fox Princess alongside her most trusted companion the ever funny, ever silly Royal Court Jester reside. As ever, the pair are on the constant look out for danger, for it is their responsibility to keep the land of Everlong safe for everyone who lives there and today is no different! For today, the pair of valiant knights were patrolling the outside of the capital city of Everlong Forest, riding their trusty steeds. The Fox Princess atop her sparkling and most dazzling unicorn of justice, the Royal Court Jester riding forth his big red nosed clown styled bumper cart. Why you may ask? Why would they be patrolling around the city on today of all days? … No Calvin the bumper cart wasn’t what you were meant to question! Hehe. Anyway, they were out here because of a top tip they’d received from the King of Everlong. Sightings of the Devilish Giga Turbo Chicken had been reported by town guard, a quite alarming sighting indeed! That beast hadn’t been seen since the Royal Court Jester himself stole their giant egg! “Excuse me! Omeletting you know right now I was not stealing, it was for the picnic, it was an egg-cellent idea if I do say so myself.” The Royal Court Jester angrily replied to the narrator, to which the Fox Princess would laugh. “A great idea right up to the Giga Chicken trying to egg-secute you!” The two continued to argue between themselves, throwing bad egg jokes after bad egg yolks at each other as they continued their patrol.”

“However…” Callie continued ominously, leaning in closer to the boys to whisper the next part for dramatic effect. “They weren’t alone.” The girl would stand to her feet and loom over the two kids to try and imitate the story. “A giant shadow cast out across the grassy fields in front of the pair of heros, everything was suddenly so dark! The Royal Jester was confused, it surely wasn’t time for bed yet, was it? Leaning far back so that he could tilt his head back to see behind him, his eyes would go wide as he gasped out in fear. “Fox Princess! I have shell-shocking news! The Giga Chicken must’ve heard us talking about him, he’s appeared upside down as a sign of forgiveness!” The Jester chimed cheerfully as he bent himself back up to look towards the Princess, a terrified look on her face as she grabbed the Royal Court Jesters shoulder and turned him around to see the Chicken the right way up. “OH! Let’s crack on then!” He’d half sing half scream as he scooped up the Fox Princess and fireman carried her as he ran for his life, earthshaking booms of large Giga talons slamming down on hard ground behind them, it wasn’t looking good for sure! What would they do? How would they escape? The titans footsteps were closing in! There wasn’t much time, they weren’t going to be able to keep up this chase forever! That was the moment the Royal Court Jester had a brilliant idea! They both had mounts that the story had forgotten about! Gently placing the Fox Princess back atop her Unicorn of Justice and taking his seat in his bumper cart, the pair races off at high speed! Now they were escaping the Turbo Giga Chicken in style! Fortunately they were on patrol just outside the castle and the Fox Princess had an idea! Together they rode, keeping just out of harm's way of the monstrous hen until they reached the castle bridge, crossing swiftly they screamed and pleaded for the guards to raise the bridge as quickly as possible just as the Giga Chicken took one step onto the bridge, it slammed shut! Launching the dim witted bird brain to the skies and far from the kingdom of Everlong! The Princess and Jester rejoiced as another day had been saved! The end~!”

The two kids found the whole thing ridiculous, but they had come to expect that from Callie’s stories and enjoyed it all the same, the pair then decided whilst they waited for their mum to get home they’d make up a story for Callie too! Though theirs didn’t have as many eggsellent egg puns. At least they kept happy and safe until their mother came home and relieved Callie of her duty. “It was a pleasure looking after them! If you ever need me to come by again let me know~!” The girl called out happily as she took her leave to head back home.
