SQ Gained:
+6 Intelligence to Patty for giving the right answer.
The demon perked up at the sound of someone else in the room. And they were coming closer to it, the creature would've been giddy at the prospect of a visitor at last. But its glee was short-lived as the fated answer was given. There was a silence. One of gloomy quiet before dissipating with a sigh... As it disappeared, something would fall to the ground. It looked like to be a key...
Item Gained:
1x Gas Control Office Key
"Nice job! Glad we didn't have to fight it. It seemed awfully sad, though."

Holy crap that actually worked? Patty just knew the legend and was talking out of her ass. But she was really good at doing that so she wasn't like shocked or anything, just pleasantly surprised. It made her think about how demons worked, she usually just blew them up for fun. At least until the other night. Except last night, but there was a purpose behind that so it was different. "Hehehaha biiiiiiiiiiiiiitch," she laughed as it faded away. Dumb ghosts, they ain't shit. She loped over to the key to pick it up, spinning it about her finger with a triumphant... pose. Well they couldn't see her damn face but she was standing pretty confident. Whatever, it counts.
She popped it up to catch it despite how stupid that was because drains exist in the bathroom. Raidou seemed pretty glad. She was glad too. For once in a while Patty didn't wanna fight or blow something up, she didn't know she could just trick demons into leaving until right just now. That was pretty radical. "I mean, like, he can freakin' get over it though...?" she paused with a squint. "Okay so, like, I know what that one was, it was... shit... oh, yeah! Ghost of the Water Closet! Kinda dumb name but like... so it'll ask you if you want paper, right? But it'll ask in colors. But if you answer a color it'll kill you, so like if that thing is disappointed I didn't let it kill me it can go get fucked, y'know? I don't wanna go out like that, that's how Elvis died and he was fat and his daughter married Michael Jackson."
Wicked started ambling into the earlier room, continuing to talk about the demon they just met and basically nothing important. She was in higher spirits after getting a compliment and realizing she didn't have to fight to take things out. Like she was still probably gonna blow shit up but she wanted the option, y'know? "So like you tell it you don't want any and you're good. It's weird, there's A LOT of demons and ghosts and crap that do that. Like they ask you a question and you answer totally weird and like they can't deal with it? Demons are weird. Like if it was gonna kill us why didn't it just try to do that anyway? Why'd it care about what paper we wanted? If I was a demon I'd just do whatever. Demon rules are dumb."

Tamsin was tensed and ready to spring into action...but then, the demon asked a question. Tamsin wasn't expecting that, she had to say. Ever since she'd awakened all the demons she'd faced had tried to kill her with prejudice. The fact that this one didn't want to fight, or that they could talk their way out of it, positively floored her. She found herself staring at the space it'd left behind, blinking.
"That was amazing. I didn't know that story. You're so smart Wicked." Tamsin admonished, in an uncharacteristic moment of girlish admiration. Then, as if noticing her change in tone, she schooled her features into their typical seriousness and cleared her throat. "This way right?" She asked tentatively as they moved on.

"Ahahaha I didn't know what would happen!" the witch crowed with a shrug. She was super proud that she tricked the demon into letting them pass because of the story she heard about and was really glad it all worked out. Even if it sounded incredibly irresponsible coming out of her mouth. Not like it would've changed anything, if it didn't work they'd just fight it and they were already gonna do that so it wasn't a big deal. Patty was overjoyed someone called her smart though. Most people thought she was pretty stupid and it pissed her off. "Yeah we're gonna go that way. There's like a hallway but it's off in the corner so like, it's a dead end. But like there's always something at a dead end, a closet, a room, lots of important rooms are like way out of the way like that."
The door to where the key went had to be around here somewhere. Like, you don't keep keys all the way across the building, that's stupid. So it had to be close by. They passed by the drugged chick that everyone else beat the crap out of but Patty didn't look at her. She didn't really want to. The lanky girl wanted to keep her good mood so she'd find something else to talk about, as long as they were talking about stuff that didn't suck then she wasn't gonna be sad. So Patty thought about what Cow Girl and Doc were talkin' about. It was, like... about drugs so it was something else she could sound smart on. "Whadya think's in them?" she asked, dangerously tapping her foot at the bottom of the barrel a little. She didn't do it hard, it was okay. It was super heavy though. "Giddy comes in pills so what's with the barrels? It's gas or liquid, maybe liquid if you like evaporate it to get a powder and make it from that. So... like... that'd mean it's concentrated, right? So Giddy's gotta be super strong, huh? Like just a pill or two make people go crazy. Or it's butane they need to cook with. I know that you need a certain kind of acid to make meth and like it's super explosive. That's why they keep the lights off when they make it. The spark from a lightbulb can ignite that shit and blow it up, so like if this is that I probably need to be careful, huh? If it's that then I don't think it'll give you super powers but it'd probably melt your face off or something."

Honestly Rampage thought Wicked's hunch was a gamble, but in the end it would probably have just ended with them fighting a demon had it not worked, so in the end even if it failed not much would have changed, this just meant that they could save their strength, so that was a bonus, and as she gave her remark to Doc, Wicked jumped in with her thoughts on the barrel, honestly Rampage didn't know about any of this stuff, she was here to make sure everyone else would be okay, and if she could manage that she would be happy with the nights events.
She let Wicked talk and make her point and as she finished Rampage simply shrugged "Honestly I have no clue, you seem to be knowledgeable about this so I will leave the info to you...though...if it's that much of a risk one would wonder why it's herein this room?" she said simply but again she had no Idea about any of this stuff so she would simply leave it be for now as she followed the rest.
Though as she walked she talked to Astarte "So...do demons have rules like that? or was that just a lucky strike?" she asked her fused demon as she continued to walk with the group, she didn't know about demons, other then Astarte, and only what Astarte had told her about herself, but she knew Astarte would probably know a bit about demons.
"Well some do, some don't...they aren't really rules that are absolute, for some maybe they are, for others well...some see humans as toys, for all I know that one was upset because the toys wouldn't play the game it wanted to play...or maybe he did have set absolute rules he has to follow...Hell he could have just set it up as a personal thing to do and was sad that he was out smarted..it's hard to say it really depends on the demon" Astarte replied as Rampage continued to walk with the group looking around to make sure nothing was following behind that shouldn't be.
Thankfully the path seemed safe enough for the time being, and as they walked she looked to Wicked as they walked "Wanna go out for drinks or something later?" she asked as they walked, not so much asking her out as a date but as a friend, besides a dangerous place wasn't exactly the best place to try and hit on someone, then again she did it mid fight with her opponents in the ring at times too, but then again this was rather life or death considering the situation. "Or what about you all? would be a good Idea to get to know the person we are working with" she said to the rest of the group including the detective as they got to a door.

As the team approached the door, they would find that the key was all it took to unlock it. Inside looked to be an empty control room outfitted with many screens, most were broken with shattered glass or refused to work. But out of all of them, there appeared to be a central computer that could be used...

"My time has come. I've seen enough shitty hackers in movies to know how to get into a system. You just mash on the keyboard for five minutes and say 'I'm in'." Sarcastic or not, it was up to the others to figure out as Fate approached the Terminal. He dispelled his staff and tilted his head. "...I just hope this isn't one of those computers that trigger a trap if you fuck up."

Difficulty Rank: 1
Hacking Rules:
When you are hacking a computer or system, you will be hacking through directories and files (represented as gray files) to create a route from the blue Input/Output Home port to finally reach and capture all the Green Registries (represented as a green/gray globe). Some files and directories may take a few turns. The number of turns it may take will have a number next to these nodes. And some of them may have a lock symbol on them with a number, this means you must capture an equal number of nodes before you can finally try to capture it.
There is at least one Firewall (represented as a red/gray rectangular stack icon) that will try to attempt to capture your I/O Home Port. However, it will not capture you right away. The moment you try to capture any node, it will have a base 30% chance of the Firewall detecting you and then proceeding to capture nodes to finally end up capturing you. Detection chance increases by the difference of the difficulty ranking of the hack and your Intelligence ranking by 10%. (I.E. You have Rank 2 and System is difficulty rank 4. Then the Firewall chance of detecting you is 50%.) But if you end up capturing the Firewall instead, then you have successfully hacked the entire system. However, sometimes you cannot reach the Firewall. Because some paths will have an arrow on it. You cannot go through the opposite direction of where the arrow is pointing at. Thus, some paths maybe closed off to you and open to the Firewalls or vice versa.
Spam nodes have a lowered 20% chance of detection and are represented with a envelope icon. These are usually unnecessary, but can be used to count for unlocking locked nodes. Transfer/Clearance nodes can be captured to lower the number of Locked nodes and how long it takes to capture a node by one. Thankfully this only applies to whoever captures it. These are represented by a cog icon, keep an eye out for those if you want to make it easier on yourself. Data-store nodes are also other unnecessary nodes, but they give out a modicum amount of exp and some VC. These are represented by the cube icon.
Be aware, if the difficulty of the hack is higher than your intelligence rank, then the paths and all the available nodes will be obfuscated until you capture more nodes to clear the way. You will still be able to see the Firewall, but you will not know which path is connected to it.
The type of actions you can make in hacking are capturing and fortifying. Capturing is self-explanatory. But fortifying is what you do to already captured nodes aside from your I/O port node. You make it harder for the Firewall to capture through. Fortifying it will add two more turns for the Firewall to try to capture a specific node and it will be vital for you to use to buy yourself more time. But sometimes with multiple Firewalls, they can work together to lessen the time of capturing that fortified node. The number of actions you can take is based on your Intelligence ranking. You may only capture nodes that is closest to you and progress gradually from there.
Also remember, if there is a folder that looks strange, chances are it might be something you might not want to try to hack into.
You may make multiple paths. But be careful, you may increase your chances of detection should you do so.
