Garden Paths and Other Escapes [Kendra/Nadia]

Nadia was surprised to be snatched up in a hug, pulled somewhere between sitting and standing. It took her a moment, but she rested her hands on the girl's back in return. "I'm not the best anything." She assured the girl, choosing to stand, now that she had been released from the hug. That's right...introductions hadn't been made yet. "It's fine. I'm Nadia Marquee," She replied, "And...you're welcome."

Kendra was still flustered about the hug slightly, not sure what she was meant to do. And the fact she learned the girl's name and recognized it didn't help. "Your parents are totally those Marquees, aren't they? I just hugged their daughter. Oh god, my dad would kill me for doing that. I am so happy you said you ran away. My dad would've literally killed me if I ruined my non-existent future as a business woman by hugging you." The words just flew out of her mouth like she was experiencing some kind of word vomit, her face turning redder. She guessed studying important figures to look out for when trying to set up a multi-million business did pay off somehow.

"Why don't we go do something that isn't awkward in the slightest by breaking into my house and taking my stuff so I can move in. That works, right?" Kendra stared at Nadia, avoiding eye contact as she kicked at the ground. She held out a hand, figuring she might as well try to show she still thought of them as equals. That was what people did when they wanted to walk together, right?

Nadia blinked as the girl unloaded. For a moment she froze. Images from a life she left behind played in front of her like a black and white movie. So this girl...Kendra's parents were rivals or something? It didn't matter to Nadia in the slightest. In fact...it made her even more resolute to help the girl break her chains. Nadia's smile broadened a little bit, and she bent to recover her bag and sketchbook that were still lying on the path.

Shouldering the bag, She nodded, curious about the hand. She shook it, assuming it was meant as a belated greeting gesture, and then released it again. "Alright. Although if you live there, it isn't really breaking in. You...have a key, don't you?"

Kendra wasn't entirely sure if people were supposed to shake your hand when you walked, but it did symbolize agreements, so that worked. So she and Nadia were officially friends, and they were really going to go through with this. She couldn't help but feel giddy from everything that was happening to her. She was running away from home, with somebody who was a Marquee, even if she had run away, which would make her dad very upset. It was perfect! She hadn't gone to the garden with this kind of escape in mind, though she made a mental note to start walking the garden path whenever she had a problem she needed a solution to, but it seemed everything was going to work out.

"Obviously I have a key. But it sounds cooler if you say we're breaking in." The vaguely irritated look on her face turned into a mischievous, triumphant grin. "Plus, I don't live there anymore. C'mon, let's go! I wanna make this move as soon as possible!" Without any warning, Kendra turn and began to sprint, fully intending on running the entire way to her house, leaving the garden path behind her.
