That summer heat. It was never forgiving, but it reminded you what it meant to be alive. Raidou remembered those moments with her Sensei, and cherished every one of those moments. It was the only time when titles were put to the side, and she could speak to him as more than just a student, but as a friend aswell. The young girl watched the clouds with her Master by her side. It almost felt surreal as the gentle breeze brushed her cheek.
"You know one day all this is going to come to an end." Raidou spoke with a nonchalant voice as his narrowed eyes examined the clouds. "The title of Raidou Kuzunoha is a curse as much as it is a gift at the same time. When you accept the blade, and the responsibility, you're no longer living to your own best interests. At that moment, your life belongs to the Yatagarasu, and the previous Kuzunoha who stood in your very shoes before you."
Raidou leaned over, as if growing tired as each second went by. The young girl watched him with slight worry, but was reassured when the man smiled and closed his eyes. "And just like my Mentor does for me; when the mantle is passed I'll be there to look after you aswell...."
-------------
"Things aren't adding up, Gotou."
Raidou Kuzunoha sat behind her desk as she examined her notes on the whiteboard before her. Endymion had been recently seeing a rise in activity from not only demons, but also these so called "Psyche Terrorists" aswell. To think peace could easily be shaken made her wonder how there was peace at all in this city. To make matters even more interesting, the conflicts were breaching outside of the city into East Eden. The problem with investigating outside of the city walls was that it crossed over into another's territory. There were always rivalries when it came to the Kuzunoha, and some others did not believe the title of Raidou should have fallen to her. Well, she did not blame them because even she had her doubts that she was the right choice for the title, but it was a choice the Herald of Yatagarasu made and went with. She succeeded in her trials and proved herself capable; but the doubt was still within her soul.
Taking a sip of her tea, she would continue to stare at the whiteboard, looking for a connection between all the events. She was searching for the catalyst that caused all these recent factors to suddenly come into play. Gotou, her feline partner, jumped up upon the desk and began to look at the whiteboard himself.
"This city is crazier than any I had to deal with in Japan. Not only are there terrorists and demons, but also Heretics and freak Clowns. To think this would be the first case you'd be put on, you've got all the rotten luck in the world." Gotou licked his paw and Raidou only leaned upon her propped up hand. He wasn't wrong, and they weren't making any head way on their investigation. She took this mission originally to find her missing Sensei, but she had learned he had succumb to his fate and had fallen out of grace of the Yatagarasu. It angered her to think they'd turn their backs on him, but she had heard rumor that he had turned his back on them far before that. All that time she spent with her Sensei, she still felt like she didn't know the real him. The only way to really learn was to recover his demons, but even they fell that night.
There seemed to be no lead insight until the sound of the door opening became apparent...

"So this is the famous Raidou Kuzunoha the CCXIV. They really were scraping the bottom of the barrel for this one."
The Demon Summoner let himself into the room without even allowing Raidou to greet him. If it wasn't obvious, Geirin was one of the Kuzunoha who did not agree with the responsibility given to the title of Raidou Kuzunoha. He was one of the Four Great Summoners in the Kuzunoha Clan, yet felt his responsibility of protecting those just outside a hot zone almost demeaning. He had been a Devil Summoner longer than this girl, yet the responsibility fell upon her the moment she claimed the title of Raidou. Now don't be mistaken, he did not look down upon her because she was female. In fact that was far from the case. His own mentor before him was female, and the current strongest Kuzunoha of the Clan was female: Even if she tossed the name. But Geirin knew, the only reason Raidou was even allowed to have this business running was because of their senior's influence in the city.
Raidou didn't seem amused at Geirin's entrance. She knew the animosity he held for her, and decided it was best not fan the flames. Her eyes simply watched him walk to a couch and plop down upon it with his dirty boots.
"And how can I help you today, Geirin Kuzunoha. It's rare to see you crossing into another's territory." The young woman spoke with a bland tone as she pretended to continue her work. She had her suspicions why he was there, considering they had a recent run in with one another a few nights ago. Hell, she still had the bandages on her hip from when his bullet grazed her, but luckily it wasn't anything serious. Though just looking at him brought up the pain in her side, and her eye winced slightly.
"You okay over there, Slim? You look like you're in pain." The Kuzunoha mocked her with a taunting grin before leaning back into the couch. "Believe it or not, I came here to warn you and also Kyouji. There's something brewing in the outer rim and I think its made its way into the city. Rumors involving humans turning into demons through the use of some drug. I don't need your problems spilling into mine, so consider this an official warning."
The Demon Summoner kicked off the couch and to his feet. Grabbing the rim of his hat, he'd tilt it downward and look upon Raidou Kuzunoha with a final glance. "Also, a warning. A man by the name of Heretic has been seen in East Eden, and heading towards the city. Though, you most likely already knew that didn't you, Detective?" The young man cackled as he took his leave to go to his next stop within the city. She could feel the ground shake the moment the door closed, signifying he was openly using a demon to travel the skies of Endymion. What a reckless thing to do... But the civil unrest would be her problem, not his own. But now she had a new problem on her hands.
