One hour.... Two.... then Three... It's been five hours sense Milton had left Morgasimer... Yet nothing.
As the sun began to move lower in the sky, and as Milton stood with his group, whomever they may be, and the several dozen transport ships that Dr. Klein had requested for the venture, things began to look doubtful for his story. There had been no hide nor hair of the Cog Town residents and their iron clad Mosses.
It was no secret that the transport drivers had little faith in Milton's story, and it seemed that perhaps those in his party's faith might begin to wain as well. As the day dragged on the cities official group of Seekers were dispatched towards the southern settlement and the northern settlement. Still, no response from Morgasimer... And no sign of the civilians from Cog Town.
However... Should Milton keep his eyes northward, towards Cog town... Eventually he would see it. In the distance.
A single red flare in the distance.
Fired from the forest.
From the path he had walked with her not but a handful of hours before.
From Morgasimer.

Milton was nervously pacing among the transport ships, Dr. Klein keeping an eye on the scene through his vision field and Anni waiting at the entrance to greet the new arrivals. Grubby managed to make it as well, but Milton wasn't that concerned with him.
"C'mon, Morgasimer... please, please be okay. We should be receiving some notice soon. They wouldn't leave without- oh, there!" Milton shouted with renewed excitement, pointing towards the flare. Gathering the attention of the rest of the escort crew, Milton braved the path ahead of them, taking the same path as his memory would recall with his blade Gale fully drawn and Phobetor following Milton in the shadows of the forest.
"This way, this way! Keep an eye out towards the thicker parts of the forest. Avatars can rush us from the side, so guard the sides. Morgasimer! I'm coming!"

Now I gotta tell ya I ain't seen so many artificers what put their heads together to make all this bullshit. Gotta buncha diff'rnt machines all hummin' an shit, loads'a pinkies walkin' around checkin'em an' I'm just tryin'a stay the hell outta the way. Not gonna lie to ya that shit makes me nervous. You know the wizards I know an' you'll get to not trustin' magical doodads, say somethin' wrong near'im an' suddenly yer blue'n covered with fur spewin' fuggen glitter outta all yer holes. Don't ask me how I know that. Had a bad experience, ain't wanna talk about it. But I'm just keepin' on Milton there an' puffin' on my pipe in the meantime, he knows what he's doin'. Fuggen hope he does. I don't know any a these whatchamacallits from the wrinkles on my ass, don't know this forest neither. Fuggen longshanks is givin'im looks like they's sick of his bullshit. Givin' me looks too like the one ya give to the bottom'a yer boot walkin' 'round a cattle farm but I'm fuggen used to it by now.
But what's important a all'a this is Milton there's gonna pace himself a hole in the damn ground. Now all I knows is that guy needs a caravan guard fer some folks stranded out'n the middle a nowhere, ain't like I ain't done it before. But I'm figurin' he knows some of'em, one of'em, he ain't seem like the bleedin' heart type what'll work hisself up over some dumb bullshit like this. Shit's gonna be fine, an' if'n it ain't ya did all ya could. No use whackin' yer head on a wall about it. "Ain't no use worryin', son," I tells'im, "Ain't gonna do you no good. S'gonna be aright or it won't, getting' all worked up about it ain't gonna change a damn thing. You just be makin' sure ya can jump when ya gotta, run when ya need, an' fight if'n ya have to, s'all ya can really do about it. Here, fuggen gotcha a 'lil somethin'." I hold out my wrinkled fist to'im, openin' it to show'im a handful'a them healin' potions. "Fuggen sure ya know what these are, ain't no bad idea to give every swingin' dick in the party a couple'a them healin' potions what if yer feelin' like beat shit're I got my ass in the air." I'm hopin' it'll get the young'un to calm the hell down, makin' me fuggen antsy with all that fuggen fidgetin'. I ain't gonna tell'im s'gonna be aright cuz I don't know if it is an' I ain't gonna get his hopes up. But I give'em a nod. Even if it ain't aright I got the motherfucker's back.
Action:
I give Milton there 3 Medicines. Hope he ain't fuggen need'em.
But then I sees it. He sees it too, e-ver-y fuggen body sees that shit. Fuggen fireworks in the black sky over the woods there. Ain't take a fuggen scholar to know what that shit's about, but he's fuggen quicker to the chase than I is. Boy takes off like a dog smellin' a pot roast I tell ya. I get to followin' too. I ain't gonna cry if it means I'm gettin' away from the artificer bullshit, fuggen surprised nothin' exploded since we been standin' here all damn day waitin' fer the fuggen sun to go down. I smack my pipe on my arm there to get the tobacca out, not gonna need none when I'm on the job. Kid's haulin' ass down in the woods but he ain't goin' faster'n I ever could. I'd keep off the path if'n I knew where he was gonna go but I ain't'n I can't see through the damn trees. Don't know what no Avatar is neither 'cept what he was talkin' 'bout at the bounty board. The fuggis he on about? Ain't no Gricks above ground, they lives in caves'n shit. But whatever's out there I ain't afraid. I'm prolly the scariest fuggen thing out here.
"You just concentrate on not gettin' us fuggen lost, jagoff!"
Arcana Boost: 15% Power to Wind attacks like it fuggen matters
—Strength Name: Quick Old Bastard —Description: I don't mean to brag but I've been around the block a few times and to even get around once ya gotta be fast. Fast to notice things, fast to move, fast to get the hell out or fast to draw yer piece. If yer slow yer gonna be slow forever cuz yer gonna be fuggen dead.
Grubby's occupation and life experiences have honed his precision and reaction times, giving him a +10% Luck bonus.
—Strength Name: Nimble Lil' Fuck —Description: Now bein' fast ain't enough if you can't get nuthin' out of it. Ya gotta stick and move, stick and move! Story time, if yer ass is gettin' chased by an Orcish Warbeast and you don't can't get yer butt over a wall yer gonna regret it for all of half a second.
Grubby is skilled at maneuvering around his environment out of necessity. While he's not physically faster in a straight run than anyone else he can get himself around obstacles with ease and is an excellent climber. Grubby's movement inside dungeons is double the normal rate.
—Strength Name: Gotdamn Sneaky Jagoff —Description: Lemme tell ya a secret. Ya wanna know the best way to survive runnin' in to an Orc patrol...? ...ya don't let'em see ya! Khaaaaaaa ha ha *hack hack wheeze*... Urgh... I gotta kick the pipe one'a these days... but yeah, I done things I ain't proud of. Things I ain't gonna talk about and no one's gonna know cuz no one saw me do'em.
Grubby is a rogue by trade, a distinction he makes between thieves and brigands on the merit that he helps do good with his talents. Old Grub knows how to travel silently, hide from anyone looking for him, pick locks and disable traps, and generally go unnoticed.
—Strength Name: Git Yer Head Down! —Description: I dunno if anyone ever told ya this, but bein' friends with a wizard is a dangerous spot to be in. Even if he's on yer side just one mispronounced word and kablooey! No more stinky gob. Slingin' fireballs here, lightning bolts there, whole place is covered in a gatdamn snow storm for some reason, there's sheep every fuggen where... You learn to keep yer head down or lose it.
Grubby has first-hand experience with attacks that hit wide areas and has learned the hard way that they hit hard and they hurt. Grub has a 10% extra chance to dodge AoE attacks by ducking at the right time. He also has a slight advantage in dodging out of the way of traps that he triggers using the same experience.
—Racial Strength Name: Rubbery Bone Structure —Description: Somethin' not a lot of people know about gobs is "How the fuck that rat bastard get in there?" or "I hit that ugly fuck as hard as I can, how come he ain't dead?" and I'll tell ya a secret: it's all in the bones. Y'see a gobs bones ain't like people bones. They're flexible like sheep stomach. So next time you see a gob contort himself through a hole the size of a tankard'a ale or get walloped by a golem and keep on chuggin' you'll know.
Grubby, as a goblin, has more ligaments interlacing in his bones than in other creatures making him incredibly flexible in addition to acting as a form of shock absorption. Just as he says he can squeeze into spaces about with a 10" diameter opening as long as he has room to maneuver his body. In addition to this when a goblin is struck by a strong force their bones bend with the strike or bounce around instead of outright breaking. A goblin can walk away from a fall at terminal velocity, and although he won't be in good shape he will indeed be walking away. They take blunt strikes better than other races too as long as their organs don't take too much pressure. This of course only applies to real-world effects.
----------------
—Weakness Name: Dumber'n a Box o' Shit —Description: So I got a friend named Hilderbrandt the Luminous 'n he's one o' them wizard magic folk. I know, I know, he picked it himself, I get my digs in whenever we're out havin' a pint. But yeah, he's the one that's good with the spells. I ain't even know how to read. You ain't need to read to stab a man in the gut anyway.
Grubby isn't skilled with the intricacies of magic, technology, or even that chain of logic that leads one to be capable with those tasks. True to his word, he also can't read. Grubby's PMstr is decreased by 15%.
—Weakness Name: Bad Back —Description: I been in the game a while, kid, and these old bones ain't gettin' any younger. Every time I get up in the mornin' sounds like a herd'a cattle are walkin' on acorns. When I bend down 'n pick somethin' up y'hear a crack like a whip. Holy fuggen Azmodeus I need to retire.
Grubby's an older goblin and isn't as spry as he used to be. If Grubby gets knocked down in battle he loses his Quick Old Bastard Strength and gains a 10% Luck penalty until the end of the battle or until a healing skill is used on him.
—Weakness Name: Damn Dirty Habit —Description: Uuuuooof...! *hack hack wheeze hack hack* Myaaaah... Fuck it sucks gettin' old... Been smokin' since, what, I killed my first boar? Mind you I mighta been no more than three rotations at the time. Anyway moral of this lil' story is don't ever smoke and if you do yer gonna look like me one day. Well maybe not this bad, but trust me it's gonna be ugly.
Grubby is a heavy smoker, favoring pipes and cigars and when he's not on a job he's constantly lighting up. This obviously impacts his stamina and after a long flurry of activity he might just break out into a coughing fit. The smell lingers too, and anything attempting to find him via scent will locate him more easily.
—Weakness Name: Newfangled Pieces of Crap —Description: So's I see I'm the only one totin' around a bow here. Everyone else got fancy schmancy iron boxes or wands or whatever the fuck that go "pop" and shit dies. That's swell, real fuggin' swell. You can dodge an arrow, catch it, bat it away, ya had options. How the hell do I compete with "point and go boom"? That shit ain't natural.
Grubby is easier to hit with Gun attacks by 10%.
-------------------
Soul Skill Name: Backstab Persona Name: Kesson Rel Tier: Tier 1 Cost: None Type of Damage: Passive Description: "Never any such thing as a clean fight. You get in, hit'em, and get out, but you hit'em hard and you make damn sure you hit'em so hard they never get back up again. Use distractions, get in close, and go for the little nook under the ribcage."
Grubby's all too familiar with striking an opponent's vitals in combat and due to his size and strength this is really the only way he can bring someone down. Kesson Rel is a representation of this roguish training: one who's familiar with anatomy and where to hit someone to get them to drop. Of course, you can't backstab someone if they're looking straight at you.
If Grubby has not been targeted by an attack or skill on the enemy's last turn his critical hit chance is increased by 10%. In PvP this critical hit chance will apply if an opponent cannot tell exactly where he is when he strikes or is engaged in any distracting task that will take focus away from Grubby.

Milton's sudden sprint caused a confusion in the ranks for a moment, it took the escort team a solid minute before they were able to not only realize that he had gone, but also what it signified.Once they had regrouped and mobalized, a small group of twenty members of the JPD joined Milton and Grubby's charge. However, not a one of them a Seeker...
The winding path took what would feel like hours to travel...The closer Milton and Grubby got to where the flair had been shot the louder the forest became. Sounds of battle and the screeches of beasts fully alien to Grubby but familiar to Milton.
And as the party broke through into a clearing where the dead corpse of the Forrest Avatar still lay...
"Typhoid Mary!"
Morgasimer's shout accompanied a flair in the blue flames at her feet as an enhancement spell flowed through her from the Persona on her back. Without a moment's Hesitation, she fired her harpoon at a large flying creature, about the size of a ten year old child. The spear struck true and decapitated the beast, causing it to drop the woman it was carrying. She fell to the ground with a thud and a scream, her leg had broken on impact. Morgasimer rushed to her side, only to be intercepted by one of the Escort Team Members. The JPD member aimed his rifle at another one of the flying creatures and brought it down with a single well placed shot before tending to the woman's injured leg.
A glance around the area showed that almost three hundred civilians had come with Morgasimer, but several dozen already lay dead or injured. The JPD wasted little time in tending to the wounded and fighting off the flying creatures that assaulted the civilians, acting as a coordinated and efficient assault and rescue force.
"Madam Seeker! Please leave the civilians to us! We will ensure they reach Junction Safely! rendezvous with Seekers Milton and Grubby to deal with these hostiles!"
"The hell is a See-Milton?" Morgasimer's momentary confusion over the man's sudden appearance was quickly forgotten as she turned to where Milton and Grubby stood. Her body visibly relaxed as she rushed to them"Thank god you got here so quickly! I didn't thi-...What the fuck is that?..." Morgasimer's grateful tone sank as she looked to Grubby and tried to peace together what she was looking at... clearly he wasn't an Avatar... nor was he Milton's Persona so..."Is that your pet?"
Before she could question further, a loud screech pulled her attention away as a shadow fell over the clearing.
"SCHREEEEEEEeeeeONK!"
"Shit! No time! I'll help your men secure the civilians! You guys take care of the big one! I'll help once I get the civilians out safely!" Morgasimer wasted no more time in putting her plan into action and leaping back into the fray... Leaving Milton and Grubby to face the new threat.
You will not take from her those she needs to praise her.
The large Mantis creature let loose a loud roar as two of the smaller creatures flew to its aid. It's massive body blocked out the sun, and it's grand wings conquered the sky.

Now I ain't know these woods but I know what fightin' sounds like. An' I know what fuggen monsters sound like. I pick up the pace with Milton there, hard to get fuggen lost now just follow the sounds a sword on ugly. But more like boomin'. I gotta tell ya I'm not takin' a liking to all these damn explosions from the powderboxes. Hell yeah I know what they is, fuggen annoyin' is what they is, ain't take no skill to use neither. So's we get goin', I got my dagger in my hand an' I'm ready to put some iron in some damn hearts when outta the woods jumps the fuggen stupidest set'a plate mail I ever did see. Looks like the guy got caught between an Iron Maiden'n a fuggen Black Guard's closet.
Fuck me. She got a guardian spirit too. An' she's a she. Don't make her armor look less like steamin' dogshit but how 'bout that? She got a bigass fuggen harpoon gun too, now that's what I'm talkin' about. Screw those damn powderboxes, get yerself a weapon what ya gotta know how to use! Now I tell ya I'm eager to get into the fightin', I'm spinnin' my dagger 'tween my fingers'n all. Just hate that it's fuggen bugs. Why's it gotta be bugs? How many goddamn giant bugs I gotta swat on the fuggen Plane'a Shadow? So's I'm about read to run off an' put some steel in some beastie when the Knight'a the Round Ass Head comes waltzin' up bein' all friendly with Milton there. So thaaaat's what that was, eh? Fuggen ladies man, is'e? Then she opens're damn mouth an' I get a lot less fuggen amused. Pet!? Ya fuggen kiddin' me here!?
"Ya bet yer ass I'm'is pet I can sit, shake hands, and fuggen cut people what say dumb shit like that. The fugger you 'sposed to be, Fish Bowl?"
But we ain't got no time fer none'a the shit talk. 'Fore we can really get fightin' this huuuuuge motherfucker just comes outta the woods there. An' I thought the other ones was big! But it ain't matter none, I seen bigger bugs at the crappy inns I stay at, I'm just doin' a good deed fer gettin' rid'a this one.
Ya ready to get to work, lazy motherfucker?
I was ready before we even got here, boss. Just leave the small potatoes to me.
My ring starts glowin' there as I can feel the mana come up from inside'a me. 'Least I think it's mana. Hope it ain't the shit I ate from that place with the crab cakes, this ain't the time fer that bullshit to happen. But I take a breath an' I yell out my order:
"Kesson Rel!" My voice echoes through the woods there 'fore a dark figure shoots outta the trees makin' a beeline toward the fuggen bugs.
"Watch closely, I'm about to literally cut our problems in half."
Kesson Rel bounces between the two smaller ones with a set a wicked swipes'a his knife 'fore jumpin' off a one to spin in the air a bit. Whirlin' like a damn dervish he goes to sink his knife in the big guy an' ride it down. Fuggen showoff.

Action:
Using Grand Larceny dealing 44 Slash damage to all enemies.
Skill Name: Grand Larceny Tier: Tier 3 Cost: 18% HP Type of Damage: Slash Description: "When yer outnumbered runnin' ain't always an option. Sometimes ya gotta slit every motherfuckin' throat on yer way outta a brawl and son, ya might as well take what you can get while yer there so it can't be used against ya."
Kesson Rel quickly vaults between all opponents on the field, slashing at them with vicious strikes and using his momentum to push himself to the next in a quick flurry of attacks. He deals heavy Slash damage to all opponents as he attempts to steal something from them with the same fluid motion. When Grubby uses this attack in PvS he rolls 2d6. If the number matches he gains steals an item from the enemy as dictated by the GM. One pair of rolls is made per each individual enemy.
In PvP and Dynamic PvS (and wherever else applicable such as QAS and dungeon traversal) if this move lands on a target Kesson Rel can take an item being openly worn or carried by the target (but not currently in their hands) and port it into Grubby's hands or pockets or take an item that Grubby is in possession of and reverse-pickpocket it onto a target without their knowledge if they have no way to oppose him (being outclashed, a Strength that can prevent theft, Strength to notice the reverse-pickpocket and remove the item quickly, etc.). The opponent will always get a chance to oppose the action when the attack connects, it's never an auto success. Grubby can choose not to deal damage with this attack if he's just trying to pickpocket/reverse-pickpocket.
In PvP this won't steal something from another player's Inventory but instead will deny the opponent the use of that item for the remainder of combat. Alternatively Kesson Rel can unslot a Weapon Node instead of stealing an item, denying their use in battle and forcing his opponent to have them re-slotted by Gear.

Milton was just as relieved to see Morgasimer as she was with him, running over to greet her while the escort forces moved the remaining citizens through their lineup. As Milton pocketed the medicines he was carrying into the pack on his back, Morgasimer was taking note of... his pet? Milton was holding back a chuckle at the idea of Grubby being seen as Milton's pet while Grubby spoke his mind about the misunderstanding. Milton decided to speak up during Grubby's comment of calling Morgasimer a "fish bowl"
"Oh no no, Grubby isn't a pet. He's an acquaintance from Junction, sort of a brother-in-arms kind of situation. Anyways, I'm sorry I couldn't make it sooner. Let's get the rest of the citizens back before-" Their conversation was broken off by the shadow covering their surroundings as a large winged insect with scythe-like claws zoomed over the forest with a scratching cry. Milton's battle instincts were already surging to life, the mesh suit covering his metal body vibrating and starting to dissipate into its free-flow form, exposing the metal skin on his hands and part of his face. The ring of blue and purple smog was already gathering at his feet as his mysterious trigger function switched on in his mind.

Grubby's blades struck home and managed to cleave a forelimbs clean off one of the Avatars of the Breeze, landing right at Grubby's feet.
The beasts did not take kindly to be assaulted however, as the Avatar of The Sky brought it's massive claw down on the pair, and the two smaller Avatars encircled the larger with a protective light.

"The fuggen kinda shit is that!?" I yells to Milton there. I seen Mage Armor yeah, that ain't special but I ain't seen an Eldritch Knight summon a fuggen guardian spirit. Must be some kinda new ritual, Hilderbrandt's gotta lotta work to do if he sucks that much he can't do it.
He's just like use old man, it has nothing to do with magic. You should know, you can't do shit for spells and I'm still here aren't I?
Fuggen smartass got a point, well it ain't matter too much now. This is only good shit what can help us. Speakin' a helpin' looks like I got me a piece'a bug fer the takin'. I dart in to pick it up when I catch outta the corner a my eye that big honkin' scythe comin' straight fer my neck. I grunt an' dive low, scoopin' up the goodies an' rollin' right under the slice. I get to feel the wind of it on the back a my neck there. Gives me fuggen goosebumps I tell ya.
But we gotta stay on the attack, those 'lil ones look like they's castin' spells. Magic fuggen bugs. Ain't that a bitch. Looks like it's high time to do a rogue's job. Kesson Rel fades in from the shadows again to jump 'round the battlefield slicin' an' dicin' some mincemeat outta them creepy crawly motherfuckers while I try to stay limber, dodge another one'a them slices.
"Geek the mages, kid! Go fer the ones castin' the spells!"
Arcana Boost: 15% Power to Wind attacks Grubby was targeted by an attack last round, his Backstab skill does not activate.

Once again Grubby's attack struck true and he managed to lop off one of the antenna of the Avatar of the Sky. Meanwhile, the cordinated attack was more then enough to fall the smaller Avatar's their limp bodies falling to the ground with a wet thud.
Item Stolen: Sky Antenna: Can be used for node upgrades, Can be eaten to regain 15% SP. Can be sold for a very low price.

The beast let loose a deafening howl as a sickening squelching came from it's rear. A single egg fell from the Avatar and landed on the ground below, quickly hatching into a new Avatar of the Breeze.

Feels like someone's stabbin' me with a hot needle right between mah vertebrae. "UuUUOH! Ooh ho ho fuggen mmmmn sumbitch...!" I get up on my feet real slow like grabbin' my back. This ain't no time fer my fuggen lumbago to be actin' up. Hunchin' over, I grab me a healin' potion from mah belt an' pop the top, take a swig. "Huuuuff... ooooooh... do me a fuggen favor Milton, die fuggen young. Never get old, save yerself the trouble. Gaaaaaaah fuggen cocksucker my fuggen back...!"

"Grubby, wait! You need to-" was all Milton could get out when the green goblin got knocked onto his back by the aggressive slash of the intimidating Avatar buzzing over them. Milton was making his way over to help Grubby back onto his feet only to see Grubby stand up on his own and guzzling down one of the potions he had given to Milton. In the midst of Grubby's grumblings towards the creature that tore into him with a string cleaving strike, he could make out Grubby's request for Milton to not suffer the pains of old age and die young.
Die young... he very well could have. Bleeding out on his own planet amongst the burning plains and bomb blasts that was once a park of peace and unity. Grubby really had no idea how close that could have occurred to Milton.
"Die young... no thanks, Grubby. It's not as relieving as you would think it is."
