Bah Humbug [Work Thread]

Hell doesn't really have holidays.

...Not pleasant ones, anyway. It had been a while since Gisèle had experienced anything like the festivities that accompanied Galaxiconamonathingamagik or whatever it was called. Under normal circumstances, it might have been a nice change of pace but in truth, this particular holiday and the timing that accompanied it rather swiftly twisted whatever celebratory spirit she had into a writhing mass of disgust, envy, and condescension all too hastily stitched together amidst the jolly little rush that was the end of the season. There was a certain holiday she had a bone to pick with -- a little holiday called Christmas (which had earned her ire for reasons that'd be obvious to anyone who knew the truth behind her identity) -- and this Galaxawhogivesafuck had a couple similarities too familiar to it for her liking. A bunch of people gathering together to tell lies to their spawns' faces and celebrate the rampant consumerism that bound them in chains? Yeah, not her style. She much preferred to play the so-called "wolf" among this sad flock of sheep that believed whatever their Toha-Heavy bourgeoise shepherds wanted them to.

Still, it wasn't as if she didn't see the opportunity for what it was. When in Rome you do as the Romans to do... even if you're planning to burn it down from the inside, it's a useful method of maintaining something resembling a cover. And so she found herself cutting down Galaxawhom'st've Je'b'e'efle'fi trees in the Forest Bio Dome at the last minute, silently listening in on the conversations of the workers, all just to earn a quick buck from the system she despised with every fiber of her being. It certainly wasn't a pleasant evening, but it helped stoke the flames of hate inside her and remind her of just why her true enemy was so vile...

With another swing of the ax, the last tree came tumbling down. Without saying a word she accepted her pay and left. It didn't matter to her how much it was; she only wanted to get out of this hellhole and back to the Slums as quick as possible.
