| It was a truly wonderful day. Gus had been laying low after all the commotion that had ensued at the Fungeon, locking himself up at home to wallow in his thoughts for a while. He didn't even feel like going out to investigate the new world the Junction's jumped to. It felt far more distant than the alluring call of his inner wellings. And besides, he had to take care of the scrumptuous meat he'd picked up on that day.
However, as Galaxicon drew closer, Gus had to reveal himself to the world once more. With a sweep of an arm, the windows in his manor slammed open all at once, letting the light flood into his not-so-humble abode after so long. The only thing that reminded him of how much time had passed was the clock he'd gotten fixed up at that nice young man's workshop. He'd spent the last few days preparing the bison meat as well as he could. The manor's interior was decorated with the finest Galaxicon decor and a large Galaxicon chest greeted all the guests upon entering the great hall. None of that mattered, though, as there were never any guests. He lived alone. Perfectly, silently, alone. The bison, therefore, wasn't for this home. No, Gustav was a benefactor after all. The bison was for the poor. The kids he took care of. The children he observed grow up and fatten in the slums. Hah. It was gorgeous. The wafting smell of the crisp bison meat wore a palpable greasy layer over the air in the manor. The seasonings, only the best, sprinkled inside and out, adding a Mediterannean undertaste to the dish. Bison meat was heavy. It was important to counterbalance its hard tastes, after all. Gustav had learned all this from the finest chefs. There was no mistaking it, the dearies would enjoy it.
Unlike usual, Gustav also wore a special Galaxicon hat. Sain Galaxicon's hat. A Galaxicon chest was strapped to his back as he walked down the streets towards the slums. He'd sprinkled his cheeks rosy. Before the day set, he had the feast spread out on the main streets in the slums, inviting everyone to come over with his bellowing voice. It echoed with the merry spirit. It shook the hearts of all. Some quivered in primal fear as well. Those shy children he ushered politely with gifts. And all had their spare. None were left hungry. Gustav was the sole one who hadn't taken a bite of the bison at all. He observed, laughed and spoke with the people. He called them onwards to join. He patted their backs. All were welcome, regardless of species. They all enjoyed.
And later would be enjoyed. For after all, it was Galaxicon. The brightest holiday of all. It would be unfair if Gus was left displeased after doing so much good.
He wiped the blood from his lips. Threw away and burned the gloves using his newfound power. Before him on the table laid an empty plate. He was at home. It went well. He'd gathered many. He wasn't hungry anymore either. With a full stomach, he smiled a jolly smile! He lit the candles and sat in a sofa with his pipe in the corner of his grin. He took a notepad from the side table and read it. Soon he'd need to get to work. Actual work this time. Not all were as confident in their bisons as he was. He knew his bison was a beacon to many, as he too was. Everyone was happy.
It was a truly beautiful night. | |
