Studying with the newbie[Rui::Morning]

Rui in fact sort of believed what he was saying, in quite a cynical way. Networking was obviously the key to success and helping people out actually had a way of converting into future profit or gains. Within limits. Rui was not a charitable person and he didn't really believe in charity on an intellectual level. But undertaking a minor inconvenience way to help out someone else in a big way was a relatively low-cost way of indebting other people to him, which had to eventually have pay-offs in the future.

Of course in public, he had to present as charitable and nice.

"...Bhaskara? Do you mean a parabola? Rui in fact had no idea what he meant, but he knew parabola has vertexes. "If you're looking for a vertex, then just find where the rate-of-change, er, slope is zero. Because that means it's a flat line. Which means its either the top or bottom of the curve."

Wait a second, did Rui remember actually how to do this? He dug into his memories to see if he remembered how this worked. Oh wait, he remembered how to find the slope.

"Oh yeah, just differentiate the equation, set the y to zero, solve for X, and you're good to go."

At no point did it occur to Rui that it was a terrible idea to tell someone to solve an elementary algebra problem by telling them to do calculus.

"Anyways, it's the 21st century! So nobody reads anymore. They say books can steal your soul." No one in fact says that, but Rui was joking. Not that he said that in a different tone from his normal voice.

"So I figured hey, I bet the literature club doesn't have a president...or any members. And now that we president now, it means the school can pay for any parties we throw!"

Rui flashed two thumbs-ups pointing forward, "Let no one say that the Lit Club doesn't throw lit parties."

"..." Albrecht really wanted to say 'what?' as he had no idea what Rui was going on about. He wasn't sure if he was too uneducated to understand the subject, or if Rui just wasn't apt to teach other people, which is understandable. He stared at the notes for a couple seconds after Rui had spoken, his expression remained unchanging in its neutrality."I see. I appreciate the help."

The knight had figured out by now this was a pointless exercise. It was worth the attempt. Maybe he should ask Maria to help him, she'd have more time to teach him this things.

Albrecht didn't laugh at Rui's jokes, in fact he barely expressed much upon hearing the answer. The one about books stealing souls was slightly amusing though. The Parties bit was a bit concerning, but Albrecht figured they were like tea parties with books or some frivolous thing.

"Uhm... Lit parties...?" Now that was a piece of modern lingo he never had heard. His expression shifted from neutral to one of pure confusion.

Rui...really could not read this boy. He didn't respond in any ways to Rui's instructions, which means he could not tell if the instruction was actually useful or not. It was only possible to take stern boy's thanks at face value - which meant assuming that the advice was somewhat helpful. Rui gave Albrecht a friendly smile,

"No problem! Always happy to help! Feel free to come back anytime if you have any questions about anything else."

However, Rui did seem a little awkward when Albrecht responded with the last emotion that Rui expected confusion. He responded with a slightly awkward smile, "Uh, you know. Lit. Like getting lit the fuck up. He pantomimed inhaling some sort of cigarette. "Like you know, nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuhhhhhh" Rui engaged in an actual pretty accurate rendition of the beat of a hip-hop song with surprisingly appropriate lyrics, from a thematic perspective.

Rui tilted his head, "Oh hey, you should absolutely come! That would be li- I mean uh, a...good...thing?"

"I shall keep that in mind." He wasn't asking Rui for help any time soon, he appreciated the attempt but it was clear this would not get Albrecht very far, maybe Maria would have more time or be able to teach it better to him.

As for the lesson in modern lingo, the knight was able to understand it better even if the way it had been delivered caused the man to just stare and blink a couple times before he said anything at all. Was that hip-hop? From his appearance Albrecht would never have guessed, and despite being illiterate on the genre but he could tell the ASSW was doing a good job at mimicking it. Following that there was an invitation to a party held by the literature club. He remained quiet for a moment, but he already knew the answer.

"I cannot, but i appreciate the thought." He does not belong among civilians peaceful. It would dull his rage.

Rui seemed actually pretty unflapped by the lack of interest. The student in front of him didn't exactly seem like the partier type. And although Rui was going to give all the encouragement Rui sought fit to give, he realized that he couldn't really drag the student into a party. That would end very badly for everyone, most likely. That being said, Rui hadn't totally given up.

"Oh. Well. That's fine! But if you ever change your mind, just gimme a call. Actually wait-"

Rui just realized that there was no way for Albrecht to do that,

"Oh yeah! I never added you yet or anything. lol." Rui literally said "lol" outloud. "Lemme like add you now." Rui pulled out his smartphone. He wasn't very good at it, but he had gotten the basics of texting down. "Oh yeah! Like before I like forget, feel like totally free to text me whatever questions when they pop up."

Rui put his finger up to his cheek like he was thinking about it, "Oh, well, I might be like busy sleeping or or working or like dying lol, but I'll get back to you like...eventually-ish."

Rui's lingo continued to take incomprehensible forms for the Knight, Albrecht remained quiet as always. He understood the other student was being friendly, but he was making invitations for things the Forgotten could not allow himself to partake in. He'd exchange contacts with the other student, still quiet, Albrecht had pulled a very obsolete phone to write down Rui's number. Maybe a decade, or even more, old.

"It is fine, i am sure you have your own business to attend to." He'd give the young man a nod, he knew he wouldn't change his mind and definitely wasn't calling or texting Rui for help. However it could still be something useful to have, someday. "I should go now. Once again, thanks for your aid. Goodbye, Rui." Unless stopped Albrecht would take his leave with a nod.

Rui was oddly comforted by the old phone. Rui did not like new technology. New technology was scary and tended to break with Rui. Rui gave off a mischievous smile, "Oh, you might be surprised. Like uh, I have lots of free time. Lots. Seriously!"

This probably seemed apparent to most students - Rui was never actually seen doing schoolwork and he didn't really tell anyone about his out-of-school job.

Rui nodded at the young, stern man, who Rui thought was quite strange, but not unpleasant, "Uh, yup. Sure! Cya! Come back uh, whenever! Also, feel free to take a cup of tea to go. It's ginger and ginseng!"

Assuming that the boy was about to leave, Rui decided to catch up on sleep, largely due to having very little the previous night, putting his head immediately on the desk in a sleeping pose. zzzzzzz
