Wandering Maintenance (NPC:Alister Rem)

Tiny Tin had come up to the middle ward to see if there was any repair work to be done or, more then likely, unneeded refuse he could take and re-purpose for repairs down in the slums, as the middle ward tended to be more well taken care of, more then likely due to having more maintenance drones and actual workers assigned to it then the lower ward where it seemed only he worked, or perhaps there was more but he had yet to run into them? all the same he wandered the alleys and streets doing minor repairs and collecting scraps that were tossed to the side and not yet collected by waste workers, though the little bot was unknown here for the most part, many seeing only a small robot going about a task with singular focus, some seeing him would stop to thank him for helping them during the panic at the jump festival to which he simply stated he was doing his duty but was glad he could buy time for them all. and so he continued on his path through the ward collecting scrap and recyclable refuse for use in projects in the lower ward as well as fixing what he could find to fix up on this more well maintained ward.

This statement would be followed by a sharp click and a dull hum as something behind Tin began to charge. Needless to say not everyone in Middle Ward had seen Tin's heroics on the day of the failed Jump, nor did everyone appreciate a small droid going through their garbage. What with it being a slow day and the fact that he was in the neighborhood, Alister decided to see to this himself. After a few minutes of following the small robot, he would approach it as it entered an alleyway in an attempt to both corner it and ensure it didn't have an easy escape rout in case things got dicey. "State your citizen's ID and reason for being here..."

As Tiny Tin was going through a garbage can taking the scraps of metal and the like that he could reuse for building material in the slums he heard a humming sound and a click, his knowledge about mechanical things let him know it was a weapon one that was charging up, and the voice that asked him the questions was a familiar one, so he turned around and looked up at the tall man recognizing him as the man from the jump festival who had come to finish the task of neutralizing the attackers "This Unit is known as Tiny Tin, Maintenance Servobot We have met before during the jump Festival Sir, This unit sent the situation report to the security forces as it held the attackers at bay, This unit was then directed to help with the evacuation once your squad had come to relieve this unit of distraction duties".

He answered honestly as he had no reason to lie to the man "As for this units reason for being here This unit is preforming Maintenance on the area as well as collecting unneeded resources for repurposing and recycling for use in repair and maintenance of the lower wards where this unit is assigned for it's main purpose, When resources are scare this Unit comes to the higher wards to collect scrap that is of no use such as this" he said holding up an empty can of soda before adding it to his internal stockpile for reprocessing.

"Oh... It's you."Alister's response was short as he holstered his pistol and relaxed his stance. His expression remained blank as the small bot explained itself. He would remain motionless as Tin droned on, though he would settle on a small frown when Tin held up the empty soda can."I suppose I should thank you for your help... Though I feel a much greater need to inform you that rooting through the garbage of others is against the law in Middle Ward, I don't care how you do things in Lower Ward but here we have rules..." His expression would soften slightly however as he took a more inquisitive look at the tiny bot.

"You said you're a maintenance bot right? You don't look like a Toha brand... Or even a Cray. Who made you? And what is your citizen's ID?" Alister would pull his note pad from one of his many pockets and begin to jot something down.

Tiny Tin looked up at the man as he stood there processing the collected scrap and refuse into the simple materials he would need for his work, and as he listened he stopped a moment, "Illegal? but sir most waste processing is in the slums, also Resource allocation to this unit has been reduced and resources are required to continue our assigned task of maintenance, Metals and plastics as well as ceramics are all required for the maintenance of the lower ward, This unit was designed for repairs and maintenance and assigned to the lower ward" He said as he looked up at the man actually confused as he went through the rules and laws of the Ark-1 database that he had, resource allocation was acceptable by maintenance personnel for their duties if required.

When the man mentioned brand Tiny Tin lifted that from his database, as the man was part of the security forces he had access to this information "Producer of origin...Terra Preserve Corporation. Build Type: Servobot. Subtype: Produced Service Unit. Unit designation:RUN 0-5. As Unit is not a citizen a citizens ID was not issued, Unit has been in service for 25985 Standard years assigned Maintenance duty on activation, assigned as close combat specialist and maintenance unit for Omega Squad, after loss of squad unit reassigned as maintenance for colony" he said giving his assigned status looking up at the man as he waited, the small robot not even aware he was in another world.

"That explains a lot." Alister nodded as e continued to jot down a few notes in his notebook. So, the little bot was clearly delusional and had yet to fully understand where it was. It wasn't an uncommon case for Artificial lifeforms to have trouble adjusting to Junction's nature, in fact Alister himself probably had more experience with helping Artificials acclimate to Junction then anyone besides CWIS. Some times they would just continue to follow their programming as if nothing had ever happened, momentarily confused as to why so many different species are suddenly in their city and the different layout, but justifying it somehow in the relm of what they understand... And it seemed this Run O-5 was no different... Still though, to be in opperation for so long, you'd think they would catch on by now... Oh well.

"Understood RUN O-5, sorry for the confusion, there have recently been some changes in upper management in regards to service drones, they now require full citizenship. Please come with me so we can get you fully registered." Alister sighed and hoped he could help the little confused bot... Playing along with the delusion was always the first step.

The little bot listened to the man, many would consider it a child like innocence, but honestly he was simply seeing it as taking the new directions from a superior, or rather someone in better knowledge of operations then he was, and so as he mentioned that there was some new changes to how drones where handled he simply nodded "As connections to the communications network are rare and far between in the lower ward it is feasible that this Unit would not have received the information, though for full proper numbers of all drones and the like applying citizenship ID to them would make them easier to keep track of..Very well Sir as this unit requires the ID Number to efficiently do it's work we see no reason to not acquire it"

With that he walked up to the man and waited at his feet looking up at him and waiting for him to head out so he may follow, seemingly not willing to go farther without being lead or told where to go, following some programming embedded deep inside him "Please lead the way sir"

Alister looked down at the tiny robot at his feet... looking up to him expectantly with it's one big eye. It barely made it up to his knees... His scowl grew as he felt an unwanted heat raise to his face and an urge to hug or pet the tiny robot became nearly unbearable. "Tch... Follow me..." he said turning and quickly making his way down the back alley's of Middle Ward.

"You say you have been in active duty for over twenty five thousand standard years. When was your last reconnect with the system and who do you report directly to? I ask to try and gage how long you have been AWOL. It will be necessary to know where to start in bringing you up to speed. Please state the name of and lead officer of the Colony." Alister's tone was flat and practiced. This wasn't the first, nor the last time he would have to have this conversation with a lost bot.

The small bot nodded as the man told him to follow and so he did, though as the man walked he would slowly be leaving the little bot behind as his stride was far larger then the smaller bots "Apologize but this unit is not built for speed, Request a speed more attainable by this unit?" he asked before the man started to talk, and then Tiny Tin took the moment to run forward to catch up, which due to his build was kind of a hop from foot to foot as he ran forward to extend his stride, only barely keeping up with the taller faster walking human as he was walking far faster then normal. As the question was asked though Tiny Tin processed it even as he rushed to keep up with the mans quickened larger strides.

"This unit was last connected to the system 25940 years ago, Omega squad reported to First Security and Scientific Development Adjunct Alisia Mardo due to calculations on normal human life expectancy this Unit surmises that Alisia has sadly passed on, however on reactivation this unit was in contact with [error memory fragmented]...apologies...[defragmenting]....[processing]....[processing]..." as Tiny tin answered his voice suddenly took on a more robotic tone as he announced the memory fragment and started the defrag process, his eye blinking on and off as he slowed to his default little waddle. Eventually this process seemed to end as his eye stopped blinking.

"On reactivation This unit was in Contact with Anna no last name was given, at that time over 520 years had passed since last activation, Unit received repairs and began his assigned task from before deactivation" he answered the first part of the question now for the second part as she waddled forward at his normal walking speed "Before the Deactivation of this unit Colony ARK-1 was under the official command of First Restorer Tira Lari and her brother First rebuilder Darin Lari" he answered as he looked up at the man and realized he was lagging behind once more "Apologize this Unit is not built for speed, Request reduction of speed so this unit may keep pace?" he asked as he looked up at the man as he was trying to keep up once more, but wasn't running this time.

"I see, it seems you've been out of commission for quite some times then huh?"Alister paused slightly to let the small robot catch up. Whatever it was, it sure wasn't designed for an area as large as Junction, no wonder it had gotten so lost. Poor thing would probably get lost in a shopping bag... Alister let out a small sigh as he listened to the bot's story. Clearly it had been picked up by Junction quite a long time ago, so much so that it would be hell in a handbasket to figure out the world it was from and see if any other RUN units were operational on Junction.

"A lot has changed sense your last connection. Currently the highest officer of this colony is Lady Annabelle, the colony currently goes by the designation Junction, and it's current task is to seek out new lands to colonize and repopulate with. Please update your logs to re-... Would you like me to carry you?..." Alister asked, stopping for the fifth time to let the small bot catch up.

As Tiny Tin caught up with the man for the fifth time he was already in the process of copying down the new information into his memory banks, the re-designation of Ark-1 would only mean a one thing, the mission had been abandoned, the other Arks were destroyed or combined to make this one larger colony, and a new planet was being looked for, but by the sounds of it several had but the main ship kept moving, a larger base rather then only colonizing a single world, it made sense, and as the man turned to ask if he would rather be carried Tiny Tin looked up at him once more and tilted his head to the side in a curious manner "Sir, as physically fit as you no doubt would need to be to be part of the Ar...Junctions security force, This Unit is made of high density alloys for the rigors of working on the surface of our old home world, increasing it's weight to size ratio, while not built for speed, this unit can continue to operate in hazardous environments, Sadly our Sibling unit was lost who provided transport" as he said the last part he actually sounded sad as his gaze moved down to the ground for a moment, though that was because Tiny Tin did miss his sibling units.

As he looked back up at the man though he continued "If the repopulation of the surface has been abandoned, what has happened to Ark's two through twelve? also what use is this unit and it's squad if it's main function is no longer to be attempted?" he asked as he walked up to the man still looking up at him as if begging for an answer "Is this unit to remain on maintenance duty in the lower section? or is he to be broken down and re-purposed? is this what happened to this units sibling units?"

Alister regarded the small robot for a moment as he began to understand what kind of world it had come from. To say it was an unpleasant one would be an understatement, however to say it was anywhere near the worst he had seen well... that would be a bold faced lie. Though, he did feel for the small robot's plight and could not help but want to help the poor thing. Without a word, Alister bent down and picked the small bot up, it's impressive weight causing him to grunt slightly, but not slow his stride."Huh... You are kinda heavy... Don't worry about the other Arks. If I remember my history lessons right they joined together to form Junction. Hense the name. A junction point."

Alister frowned at the question though... unsure of how to proceed."...You are free to choose your own designation. Your model line was thought lost and thus we don't have a current operation plan for you. You may continue your work in the Lower Wards if you wish."

Tiny Tin didn't move as the man picked him up facing in the direction the man was going though as he simply sat in his arms, though he was quite heavy for his size "This unit was not expecting that you could lift it, however this does make travel faster if not easier on you" he said as he sat motionless so as not to toss the mans balance off, his explanation of the other ARK's whereabouts made sense, they where all high capacity colonies, and so joining them together for long distance space travel made the most sense, resources would be better to find on other planets and they could return once the fall out had been naturally dealt with, though they may return to a hostile world with the hostile Mutants left there though some seemed to have integrated into the mega colony that was now called Junction, this also answered the question as to why they said that name so often on the community announcements and recreational comm stations.

Though on hearing that he was free to choose his own designation, and that he and more then likely his siblings were thought lost they had no running operation plan, but hearing he wasn't to be broken down and re-purposed actually got a happy little beep out of him, it meant that his sibling units wouldn't have met the same fate, so their main bodies may still be intact, however the man also mentioned thinking they were lost so perhaps they where not in official hands? "If this unit was thought lost what of units RUN-O1 through Unit RUN-O4? have they been considered lost as well? if so the current location of Unit RUN-O4 is known by this unit, the locations of the other units however is unknown, will a search be done for them? Unit RUN-O2 Alone had significant Military hardware, while Unit RUN-O1 Had Higher cognitive Functions and Military data, Locating them may be important to security".

As he said this though he looked up at the man or at least up to indicate he was trying to look at him since he was faced away from him "If...this Unit may request they are found and reclaimed rather then....destroyed....this unit would be grateful....this unit misses it's siblings..." he said in an almost sad and unexpecting tone as he thought the chances were low on getting them back in once piece.

"You've been gone for several thousand years, it's very doubtful that your siblings will be foun-" Alister paused both his sentence and his walk for a moment and stared down at his feet, seemingly deep in thought. He would stand this way for only a moment, perhaps five seconds at the longest before turning his gaze to the small bot in his arms. His cold gaze betrayed no emotion, except maybe... Pity? However, as quick as the moment came it passed and he began his walk again, approaching a nearby CWIS terminal and setting the small bot down next to it.

"Follow the prompts and answer all questions to get your citizen ID..." Alister would say, activating the terminal. "It's a simple questionair about your history and how you found yourself on Junction, please only include information dating back to your reactivation... The system is not set up for anyone from the age before Junction was unified." It was beginning to hurt to lie right to the small things face... but he would get over it.

Hearing the man give his answer, Tiny Tin seemed to look down a moment, it made sense, he was searching for a long time for them himself, but with the size of the colony seemingly growing time and time again it could simply mean that they were elsewhere in the mega colony, so there was a chance that he could see them all again, at the very least he should be able to get a new shell for his "sister" especially if his designation was now his to choose, it meant he would need income, but it also meant he could buy supplies for things other then maintenance, so with that in mind he seemed to give a little nod.

He was then placed down in front of a terminal that seemed to move down accommodate his small size and he followed the instructions the man gave him, it made sense the records wouldn't go that far back, and that the system wouldn't be able to ether, since it was such a long time ago, not to mention that no living creature would have survived that long, and memory would need to be freed up for new information. So taking his time he answered the questions and finally after a bit of time he was given his ID number. He then turned to look at the man "This unit has finished registration" he said simply looking up to the man and obviously waiting for instructions, clearly not one to take the initiative due to his programming.
