Night time. The moon was bright in the sky and illuminated the well watered earth below. Occasionally a cloud would float across the moon and block out its soothing light; however, to the one that sat on the garden bench gazing up at the moon, the shadows cast by those clouds did not seem to bother it. The air was cooler and a light wind occasionally blew that would cause chill bumps to run down the normal person’s arms, but this did not happen to the young man who continued to watch the moon quietly.
It was midnight, a time where most crawled into bed for the night or sat trembling under covers if they were small or naïve enough to believe in such creatures as demons that were said to plague the dreams and fill the mind instead with frightful things. Some people kept their lights on, some kept dream catchers above their windows, and some would even prey to Baku to protect them through their dream travels. However, the young woman who slept in the upstairs room of the manor the young man sat before did not do such things. She lived her life in joyful bliss and when she did bow her head to sleep for the night, she closed her eyes without fear and slept with a smile upon her lips. She didn’t need anything imagined to protect her through the night. She knew that when she shut her eyes she would be safe as long as the young man that was connected so deeply to her was around. Be it oceans that separated them or a flaming infernos, there was truly no lengths the strange young man wouldn’t go to ensure that his master….his host was safe.
Perhaps it was selfishness that caused the young man to do this. Perhaps it was love. Perhaps it was duty and loyalty. Perhaps it was instinct. There were no correct answers for why the young man did what he did to keep the girl safe. In the end, the only truth was that the young protected and protected well and without mercy. A true fighter to the end that scared most bullies or threats away despite how non-threatening he looked.
While the young man could not understand its deep connection to the girl or why it was that they could feel each other’s pain and connect mentally with each other, the odd ability felt kind of natural like it had always been that way and yet as the young man continued to watch the moon, he had to wonder…was this connection really natural?
He couldn’t say. His mind always became a messy fog when it came to the past and figuring out what he truly was. He had asked Hyacintha about the oddness, but much like himself there were many things she did not know. She had simply stated that they were together because they were meant to be together. End of story.
But was that truly the end of the story? Snow would ponder this as he continued to gaze at the moon and the passing clouds.
(Note: Snow can currently be interacted with one-on-one since Hyacintha is sleep.)
