On The Hunt (NPC Thread For Ace)

Within the forest biome, many creatures live in the peace and serenity. Open flowery meadows, thick wooded lands, crystal clear lakes, underground burrows and even small caved areas filled the bio dome and provided life for countless species. There was always plenty of space for all to find a place to call home and all necessary requirements for each and everyone of their day to day lives. Food, water, nutrients and anything in-between that any creature may need. It was a sort of utopia of inter-dimensional being living in harmony... Mostly.

Obviously there was the odd hiccup. Things going wrong, arguments between who owns what land, carnivores doing what carnivores do. You know. The usual. However for one strange being, none of these facts really phased him. In fact, in a lot of cases he was the cause of these disturbances between the peace of the forest dome. And that fact, was in his eyes, his crowning achievement.


A bird would sing merrily in the trees above, fluttering its wings to leave it's perch to find another, shaking the tree it was once resting on and dropping a single giant leaf to glide gently downwards from the heavens. However, it was what was happening down below that had a pair of piercing brown eyes glaring out from its hiding place in what was annoyingly a much more thorny bush than the creature first assumed it would be. The gaze of said creature watching a Ruln, a small rodent like creature with black fur and twin tails pad its way cautiously towards a small pile of berries that sat nonchalantly in a small opening of all the foliage. Rakikar's heart would begin to race excitedly, not only was he really looking forward to the horrified squeels of the Ruln as it's leg got all tangled up in Rakikar's expertly placed trap. He was also really hungry, and from what he could remember. Ruln's were good grub.

The thought of the good meat, alongside with the temptation to chase and the adrenaline building up inside him. Rakikar couldn't bare it any longer. "KARARARA!" The Rakkian would cry, leaping head first towards the now extremely panicked Ruln. His boomerang in hand, his leap precise, he could taste it! For today the trap could wait! He'd make this kill himself--- Then everything went dark. With the unexpected arrival of a giant leaf covering his eyes. Rakikar tumbled head first into the ground, rolling a few times before being suddenly yanked upwards by his left leg and dangled upside down in his own trap a few feet off the ground.

Having an ounce of free time on his hands on that day, Ace would make the decision to go visit one of the calmer places of Junction. Well, theoretically speaking, at least. Even the forest could get loud thanks to its inhabitants at times, but it was still a different kind of a ruckus than in the city areas. Being part bird himself, the winged demon certainly preferred to deal with the natural when it came down to it. Not that other people were a bad thing, otherwise he wouldn't be living and working in those spaces, but there were times when nothing could beat a serene afternoon in the forest or any other pretty part of the nature.

Choosing mostly to spend his time chilling, Ace would hang around the trees, sitting on the sturdier branches as he watched the life around him, occasionally flying over to a slightly different part of the area to settle on a different tree spot. Until he got distracted by an unusual combination of sounds coming from somewhere nearby his current location. Eh? What was going on? Well, curiosity killed the cat, but since he wasn't one, he could go and look without any issue, right? Which is exactly what he would do, soon finding himself hovering above a being he had never seen before...apparently hanging upside down from some sort of a trap..? Huh....Ace would blink down at the strange scenery, before opting to pose a question. ''....are you okay there?''

It didn't take the Rakkian that long to figure out what had happened, or at least for him to realize where he was and why the trees were growing downwards. With a mixture of annoyed growls and grunts, the primitive creature would wiggle back and forth to try and loosen his foot from the trap before becoming increasingly frustrated of how strong a knot he'd made for the trap. Becoming increasingly dizzy from being suspended upside down, the furry creatures would continue to squirm, though this time look more like he was looking for something that he must've dropped as he tumbled.


After quite a pathetic moping session, Rakikar's fur would stand on end as a voice called out to him. Instantly throwing his body into a combat ready stance, or at least the best combat ready stance he could do whilst dangling above the ground, which only seemed to make him slowly rotate round as he caused the rope to move. Instinctively, he looked up. Most people were taller than him when they talked though here that just made him look at the ground and confuse his brain even further. Though as he puzzled over why the floor was up for the third time, he'd notice his boomerang on the... Ceiling? Floor? And would try to the best of his might to grab out at it a few times before realizing he wasn't even close to being able to reach it. In a huff, he'd continue the search for where the voice came from, eventually spotting the winged being. He'd narrow his eyes at them, fold his arms and stick his tongue out. "Rakararakar!" He'd exclaim furiously.

Whooops. Well, that one didn't really work. How strange. He had never met anyone who spoke pretty much nonsense before. Hmm, maybe it was a specialty in this area? Ace could see the possibility of some animal creatures not speaking any intelligible language at all. It did make communications a lot harder to carry out however. This little guy seemed pretty upset though. Did he get caught in this trap on accident somehow? Maybe? Sadly, speculations were all the demon had at the moment, since it didn't seem like talking it out was an option here. He would raise his hands in the air in a defensive position sheepishly. ''It's cool, I'm not your enemy.'' As a matter of fact, he would float down onto the ground after, picking up the fallen boomerang to offer it to the hanging creature. ''That yours?'' Perhaps this would help matters? It did seem like the guy had been trying to reach for it.

The small beast would throw out a punch as the winged being lowered towards the ceiling? Again only achieving making himself rotate round in a circle as the rope swung slightly and made the Rakkian feel increasingly ill. He's hold his paws up to his head to try and straighten out his now blurred vision whilst groaning. He hated failing. He hated trapping himself. He hated being upside down. And he really hated that someone was here to mock him about it.

The creatures big brown eyes would try to refocus on what the bird man was doing, making a quick and eager snatching motion to whisk the boomerang out of the winged beings grasp and into his before sticking his tongue out again and attempting to pull himself up to reach the rope that tangled round his foot. Cutting into it slowly by scrapping his boomerang back and forth along it. Whether he didn't care enough, or wasn't smart enough to think it fully through. He didn't quite plan on how he was going to land once the rope was cut though...

.....guess this little guy didn't understand him either, eh? Either that, or he simply didn't care and wanted to fight no matter what. Man. Thankfully, he was safe for at least now...though maybe he should start worrying about getting attacked once the other managed to get down on the ground. Ooof, well maybe he could just fly up in the air to avoid that? Boomerangs though. Blah, too early to be pondering that just yet.

For now, he would settle to stand below the hanging creature, watching the cutting process. He couldn't really do much at the moment anyway....

With his frustration building at how slowly at first his boomerang was cutting through the rope, Rakikar would begin frantically scrapping the rope faster and faster until he noticed that his cutting was starting to take effect! It was only at the point where there was a single strand of the rope left and his entire body was suddenly thrown downwards a few inches as the ropes structural integrity began to give way that the small creature came to the sudden realization that falling hurts. Not that he had much time to mull over this fact.


A panicked screech would escape the Rakkians mouth as he plummeted head first into the ground, his body flopping backwards into a lying position and his head span uncontrollably. After a few moments of him seemingly not moving at all, he'd suddenly shake his head vigorously and push himself up into a seated position. Staring up at the weird winged being with wide brown eyes and a slight confused look on his face. Unsure if he just couldn't think of what to do next, or was suffering a mild concussion and simply didn't understand where he was anymore.

...Welp. That didn't go all too well, did it now? What to do though? It didn't seem like the little guy understood spoken language, and if he actually did, then he wasn't intent on listening either way. Thus Ace was stuck just observing most of the time, as he had no idea how to exactly communicate with this one.

Staring back at the now sitting creature, he would crouch down to get on a more level field, but for now do nothing as he chose to wait. The guy tried snapping at him before, and he didn't exactly want to provoke another attempted attack for no reason. Perhaps taking it slow and steady would work here? At least until he could think of a better way to approach the matter.

Rakikar would continue to sit there and stare at the bird like being, still kinda confused as to what just happened and where exactly he was. He'd watch in interest as they crouched down to be at his level and would tilt his head from one side to the other rapidly three or four times in a row. Slowly he'd look off to the side and scrunch his face up a little as if he was really trying hard to think about something, before looking down at the boomerang in his hand and everything clicking back into place.

The bird thing! He'd given him his boomerang back when the floor was the ceiling. Grrr. Damn him, Rakikar didn't need help. Rakikar could of done it himself! He make Rakikar look like a fool. Rakikar totally knew how to make the ceiling a floor again all by himself. The little creature would seemingly cross his arms in a sulk, letting out a random assortment of sounds as a kind of grumbling. Stupid not Rakikar trying to help Rakikar. Through his sulk however, the Rakkian would hold out his right paw towards the bird, looking over his shoulder as he did so as to not make eye contact still in a huff.

You know, this little guy was kinda cute when he wasn't trying to scratch him apart or something. Better not jinx it though. Ace would prefer to get out of this forest in one piece later after all. Getting mauled despite not really doing anything to warrant it would be a sad fate to be had. Though that did make him wonder what was this little guy even doing to get caught up in such a trap. Sounded like quite the dangerous business when you had no one to help you get out of it in some way.

Tilting his head slightly at the offered paw, he would give the creature a small smile. He couldn't be sure what the other wanted exactly due to the language barrier and all, but since the most likely universal option was to go for a handshake of sorts, he would opt to try that, hoping it would work. Time to try and rely on body language, apparently. For the most part at least. ''Hi?''

The creature would put little to no effort into the actual shaking part of a handshake and would instead continue to stare off in a different direction almost as if he was trying to ignore the fact he was doing this at all. He didn't want to be. But Gonk had told him that was the best way for him to say thanks to someone. He didn't want to say thanks. But they had helped him. He didn't want them to help though. Yet being upside down sucks. Though what if Gonk was watching and got annoyed later. Gonk liked pranks too. But Gonk had to be all nice to people who were nice. Bleh.

Rakikar would pull his paw back into a crossed arm position the first moment he could and would huff. Though he knew he couldn't just sit there and do nothing all day. He'd get bored. His eyes would dart to face the bird thing as it spoke again. "Uweega karfrroo." He'd mutter under his breath, though why he bothered he didn't know. No one except Gonk ever understood him.

Heh, this little one was quite huffy-puffy. Well, Ace had met a good amount of brats before, and as long as he wasn't getting attacked or jumped, this was more or less acceptable. Although not being able to communicate clearly made it a lot harder than it needed to be. All he could do was make guesses based on how the creature acted and reacted, and while Ace did a lot of chatting with people and all, he wasn't able to actually read minds. It was a much tougher job when you couldn't just ask what the person meant by their actions.

Still, he would keep a friendly demeanor with a light smile as he stayed where he was for now. Yeah, he didn't really understand that. It was probably some sort of special language, but it was probably impossible to understand unless one learned it...somehow. ''Let's see....'', he would mumble under his breath in thought before addressing the other. ''I guess talking doesn't work....is there any other way? Like, you could show me what you want?'' Assuming the other at least understood in return. He couldn't be sure of that, but it was worth a try at least?

Becoming increasingly bored of just sitting around, especially with his low attention span. Rakikar would push off the ground with his front paws to lift himself into a standing position before stretching his arms into the air, a few of his bones clicking from where he fell on them. The creature would stare at the bird being as he scratched his ear with one paw and his arse with another. Pulling a rather puzzled face at the question directed at him. They wanted to help more? Rakikar didn't need help! Didn't need help in first place. Definitely not need more help. Stupid helpful. He'd be sur-

Cutting his thought short, the fuzzy creatures stomach would suddenly growl loud enough to distract himself entirely. Damn! Rakikar didn't get that Ruln. Was looking forward to Ruln... Rakikar hungry. Hmm... "Yama yama!" Rakikar would almost shout suddenly towards the bird, patting his stomach as he spoke. If stupid person wanted to be helpful, fine. He could always watch and laugh if he fail!

''?'' Ace would blink, momentarily startled by the sudden change of atmosphere. Ookay. Well, he kinda understood this one. Was he supposed to help feed the guy now? Eh, well not what he came here for, but exploring this place in some way wasn't a bad idea, right? He would scratch at his cheek lightly as he thought. ''Food? What's food around these parts though? I don't live in the forest.'' Yeah like, he could always try, but it'd be hard if he didn't know what to even look for. He liked the forest and all, alright, but he wasn't the type to camp over here, nor did he hunt for food this way. He definitely could if he wanted to live a rogue life for whatever reason, but he had never found it necessary to do so.

Rakikar's whole body would suddenly straighten out as he remembered something. His head would suddenly turn to face as far behind him as possible without the rest of his body moving, his eyes lighting up as the rest of his body followed in the one eighty rotation and dived on the small pile of berries he'd used to entice the Ruln in the first place. If they didn't want it. Rakikar did! Was better than nothing. Any food was good food. Just some food was gooder than the other good foods.

Unfortunately, he didn't exactly have a lot of berries he used for the trap in the first place. He knew only a few would work so didn't bother going mad with it, so before eating the last one, he'd pick it up and turn back to the bird person and hold it up in an outstretched paw. "Yama yama!"
