Walking into her forge Zaku looked to the gear she had received from the fencing club, she had told them it would take time to get to them as she had other orders to do, but now she had the time to do the work she promised to do for them, though she had yet to meet Saito again since then, and they hadn't come down to the Dojo for their club meetings, she had to wonder if they had thought of a better place? But at the very least she could do this task for them, and as she took off her clothing and slipped into the heat resistant smock and apron she wheeled the weapons into the forge area proper and started to examine the blades.
"Oh...you poor things..." she said as she ran her fingers down the blades of a few of them, her fingers finding every nick, dent, and scratch on the surface of the weapon as she let out a sad sigh "people just don't understand do they?" she said to the weapons as she knew a lot had to be totally reforged, while others simply needed to be worked to get out the minor damage they had. Going through the pile she started to take out the blades she would have to completely reforge and leaving the ones that only needed repair work, rolling the large case back away from the forge area she looked to the ones that needed reforging.
"I will make you whole again...and stronger then before" she said as she started the task of disassembling the weapons leaving each of their components off to the side in marked piles to make sure they would stay separate, not that she needed to do that, as she could easily tell by touch, and sight which belonged to what, but she liked to keep her workshop in order. and as she got the metal blades together she started up her forge heating it to temperature as she grabbed a large pitcher of water for herself already sweating a bit from the heat.
Taking the first blade she set it to the fire, she would have to heat them up fully and then fold them back into billets to reforge them properly, and so the work truly began, Time going by as she worked each and every blade, heating them all and hammering them into the proper shape before heating them to temper them, dipping them in oil to get a proper tempering, and with a nod she would set the finished blade to the side and go to the next.
As she worked she started to hum a song, a habit she had whenever she worked the song was one she wasn't sure where she had heard it, but she knew it well enough so it just became a habit to hum the song as she worked. Each blade quickly finished as she tempered each one, making them battle ready, reassembling them and fixing any issues with the grips, cross guards, or any other loose points or unbalanced sections.
She then moved on to the ones that only needed to be repaired, these ones she wasn't as depressed about seeing their condition, these ones seemed to at least be slightly looked after at the very least, but they needed work all the same, and so she took them apart as well, and set the blades to the side, and she started the process over again, though this time there was no need to reforge them, she only needed to reheat them to proper temperature so that she could work them, to removed the damage with proper aimed strikes of the hammer on the heated steel.
Each blow correcting the damage that foolish or careless hands had done, erasing the mistakes of the improperly trained, and the neglect of the ones that didn't care for the equipment that even allowed them to do the hobby they loved.
"If they decide to use my Dojo...This will change...." she said to the blades as she worked on them sparks flying as she found pockets of impurities in the blades, and the light of her forge surrounding her body in a halo like glow as she glistened with the hard work that the forge required.
Until Finally she was finished her task, a smile on her face as she looked to all the blades she had taken to work on, each one looking as if new, some were in some cases, and she placed them carefully into something she made for each one, a custom scabbard, something every blade needed if it was to be stored for long periods without use or care, though she hoped to avoid this fate for the blades she had just repaired, and with that she stepped into the room just outside the now cooling forge and set them all back into one of her large safe like backpacks before stripping once more and grabbing a large barrel, dousing herself in the cool water inside it and letting it run down the drain in the floor as she dried herself and dressed once more in her normal clothing, a sigh escaping her as she felt the heat of the forge leave her.
"Zaku hopes they like the job she did...Zaku" she said as she looked to the weapons and nodded a bit to herself. she then started to pack them all properly, finding good spots to put them and labeling each one to make sure that the club would at least have the gear she returned be properly identified, somewhere just called generic terms, some even improperly named, and she wanted to correct this, these weapons deserved more respect that that, and she was going to make sure they got it, at least if they decided on her Dojo for the club anyway. If they didn't then she would visit often to make sure the equipment was well maintained. It was the least she could do for the club after all, they needed the help it seemed.
