//"Oh, thank you."// Shiina took her seat softly with a pleasant smile on her face. So far, Avaritia had been pretty pleasant, which at least showed her that her lack of nervousness was indeed the right approach to take. There was no reason to feel tense right now. //"Hmhm..."// The Wild Card hummed under her breath as Lisa and the District Leader spoke to each other, letting her eyes wander around the room for a few moments.
Naturally, though, she was still alert. The talk about Julius pleased her somewhat but Avaritia's compliment of the Cadets... sent a pang of gilt coursing through Shiina's stomach. Yeah... working as well as it should be. Maybe Maria could boast of that achievement, but not her. The Prince's encouraging words this morning had done wonders for her confidence but the incident still needed to be rectified. When Shiina found Alice again, she'd fix her past mistakes, that much was certain.
//"うーん、私?"//
She was taken off guard a little by the sudden interest and her tick showed through. Missing a single beat, Shiina quickly followed with a proper introduction. //"My name is Shiina Tsurinai."// The Tsurinai's accent would have marked her words before, but were it not obvious before it certainly would be now that Shiina was very much of Japanese heritage. Of course, her accent had never impeded anyone from understanding her as she was at this point more fluent in English than Japanese, but it was still there.
Weakness:
—Weakness Name: //”Nippon is beautiful, yes, but maybe I should start working on getting better at other languages...”// —Description: Shiina’s mother tongue is naturally Japanese, and while she is fluent in English, she has a very... distinct accent when trying to speak it. She has a tick where she tends to introduce Japanese expressions and words into her phrases, or say a line in Japanese before translating it into English. This can be annoying but more than that, it is a clear sign of where she comes from, making anyone able to know just by hearing her that she is not native to Endymion.

"...Oh?"
Avaritia tilted her head at the sudden utterance of Japanese. It was fluent and nonchalant, the traits of a natural speaker. There were some uncertainties of her ethnicity, but this zeroed in where the young Cadet came from, especially with her name being of Japanese origin. But what's even more intriguing was that very family name that spilled from the young woman's lips. While a relaxed smile was on her face, an amused one began to spread instead. A soft mutter escaped her lips. "ああ、つりないのかぞくはここにとどいた。そのようなものはなぜここいるかなあ?”
Things were starting to get interesting. To think their kind would finally begin to scramble their grasp to a realm so far out of their own comely isolated abode. Perhaps there was a lot to consider now that one of their own arrived here. Lisa seemed confused and curious of the exchange happening between the two. The District Head chuckled at this, noticing the Princess' expression. "A pleasure to meet you, Tsurinai-san. It isn't everyday I have a chance to meet someone who could speak the language."

//"凄い!"//
Shiina's eyes widened slightly at the response. So Avaritia was also Japanese, huh? Or at least she spoke it. Now that she knew this, it suddenly became clearer why Prince Julius wanted her specifically to aid in the delivery. The Tsurinai folded her hands over the table with a relaxed smile, apparently that much more open now that the District Head had spoken to her in her native language. She was somewhat rusty, but she could still communicate pretty easily.
//"私はただクィーンのために働いています。ツリナイ家は私を平和の提供として送りました... またはそれのようなものです。"// Shiina scratched the back of her head after she spoke. Well, she at least was saying the truth. //"あなたも日本人ですか? 言語のあなたのスキルのおかげで..."//
It was at around this point that Shiina began to notice Lisa's confusion and, much like Avaritia, she found it pretty amusing as she barely stifled a giggle herself. //"Likewise, Avaritia-san. It's refreshing, in a way, with so many people keeping to simply English all the time. A change of pace is needed once in a while when it comes to speaking, that's what I think."// The Wild Card leaned forward a bit just to support herself on the desk. So far, the meeting had been pretty pleasant; she actually kinda wished she worked in this District now, so that maybe she could have this woman as her boss.
"そう?おもしろいね。Indeed I was from that island, but now my home is here in Endymion."
It was as much as she figured from what she could tell. Endymion was a city that was the apple of the eye of other places. To think it was as far as Japan, perhaps there were some gears moving in the background somewhere. After all, there were some strange happenings outside of her domain. While she never had much of a reason to care much outside of her realm, the necessity to keep the status quo made this a concern.
The woman shifted back more towards English when she noticed the Princess was growing more curious and didn't really want to make her feel too ignored. After all, it wouldn't do well to offend a member of the royal family, would it? Though having her being so tight-lipped can be a little bit tiresome if there wasn't anything remotely a favorable result to come out of it. So...
"I've been hearing a lot of... commotion lately in the last few nights. I recall hearing the Dragon's Maw was closed and there were explosions in East Eden. My concern for this grows. Are the Cadets currently investigating them by chance?" she began to inquire with her eyes observing their expression.
Lisa made an uncomfortable scowl, but tried to retain composure. That topic hasn't really moved after all of that. She hoped they could. But the explosions? She had no idea about those, maybe her brother was investigating them. "We are currently examining the situation. Everything's under control."
Whether Avaritia didn't believe her or not, she didn't show it. But she made a glance towards Shiina to see if there were any tell-tale cracks from her expression.

Shiina chuckled a little. Yeah she had to admit it was pretty amusing that the Tsurinai had sent her of all people as a peace offering. Then again, she was the most expendable in the family. If only they knew of her powers. Either way, she nodded in understanding after confirmation of Avaritia's nationality.
Though, the talk of explosions took Shiina aback a little. The Wild Card leaned back on her chair and pinched her lip in thought.
//"I have heard the news of the explosions, yes. However, I don't believe any Cadet outside the outer area patrols are meant to know specifics about the situations save for Prince Julius. I don't doubt it's being investigated, but it's likely outside our jurisdiction. I'm sorry I can't tell you more than that, I genuinely don't know more information about the case."// The Tsurinai responded calmly and as concisely as she knew how. The Cadets in Class Zero didn't often have to deal with issues in the outer regions of the city as there were already patrols stationed there specifically for that purpose, after all. //"It is somewhat worrisome to me, however... the Tsurinai Estate is in East Eden, so I might ask His Highness for permission to investigate it as well. I'm certain everything's taken care of now but it wouldn't hurt to make sure, would it?"//
Shiina waved her hand afterwards.
//"As for the Dragon's Maw, it's as Lisa said. Everything's taken care of now and there's no reason to worry."// The Wild Card didn't find the need to say more than that, as it was the truth. The incident had been taken care of by Maria's own party and was reported as such during their meeting the previous day. With it under wraps, there was no point reigniting conversation about it.
Avaritia took all of this information into consideration. Her expression never really changed, failing to betray any emotion from the answer she received from the Tsurinai woman. It was obvious that she understood what Shiina had to say, but how she'd react to it was the other difficult part to discern from her. At best, it can be said the genius from the First Capital Bank was considering several things from the information given to her.
"Very well then. As always, I'll leave it to the Cadets to manage these matters," the District Head finally began, "Please relay to Julius that I am more than willing to lend a hand should he ask for it... And your Highness?"
"Yes?"
Avaritia's hand pat the wrapped package to the side. Its fingers began to explore the surface of the container. "Could you please see if a meeting with your Mother is possible? I would like to have several words with her."
At that immediate moment, the Princess' expression began to sour. There was something about it that significantly brought a bad taste. She was used to seeing sycophants trying to gain the favor of her siblings and this wasn't any different other than a powerful District Head's request. "I'm sorry. I can't do anything about that. It's outside of my power."
"Surely you can try...? You are her daughter." Avaritia tried to needle her a little bit further as she leaned over closer to the Princess. Julius didn't try to entertain her desires for such a long time. She hoped maybe the younger Lamecia would be another avenue to try.
But the Cadet repeated stiffly and looked square into her eyes, "It's out of my hands."
It was an awkward silence that followed after her forceful words. It would be a lie if the Head didn't feel disappointed. Lisa was still adamant about not fulfilling her request. What's with all the Lamecia's acting like this regarding their matriarch? But she sat back into her seat and heaved a little sigh. "How regrettable. I'll leave it at that."
The shrill noise of a phone began to fill the room. Avaritia took the receiver to answer it and to listen to what the other side of the connection had to say. Her brow twitched as her eyes glanced over at the clock. What horrible timing. "Fine. I'll be over there."
She hung up, looking visibly irritated. But the woman addressed them calmly, "It seems I'll have to put an end to our conversation and bid you both farwell. It was... a rather enlightening exchange. Please give my regards to your brother, your Majesty. And to the Tsurinai's, Shiina-san. If you would please."

Shiina's brow furrowed curiously at the exchange between the two. Avaritia seemed unusually persistent about speaking with the Queen, while Lisa seemed very much the opposite, stubborn as always to even amuse her request. It was a little off-putting, but the Tsurinai figured it wasn't anything she should prod into herself. If Lisa said she couldn't grant the District Head a meeting with Queen Isla, then that must be the truth.
//"I'll make sure His Highness gets your well wishes, Avaritia-san. Thank you for placing your trust in us."// Shiina bowed once again before getting up upon the indication that the meeting would be ending there. //"Of course. The Tsurinai Family will be pleased to receive your regards, I'm sure. Though if I may speak for myself as opposed to their behalf, it was a pleasure to speak with you. It was... surprisingly relaxing, if I had to say."//
The Tsurinai's face was calm, relaxed. If all District Heads were like this, then Shiina had nothing to doubt about Endymion's ruling class. Avaritia specifically was quite the surprise in how she carried herself...
//"Well then, we should leave you to your work, Avaritia-san. If you ever require anything of us, please don't hesitate to give us a call. I know I'd be glad to comply, personally."// The Wild Card extended her hand towards the District Head for a proper handshake. A job well done, and all in all a fairly pleasant afternoon despite the impasse with the odd artist...
...and besides, it was always good to have acquaintances at the top.
"It would be a pleasure, Miss Tsurinai," Avaritia nodded and smiled while returning the handshake to the Tsurinai. Though Lisa didn't waste much time to only give a slight bow before leaving the office, not so much bothering to show if she acknowledged her request. The walnut door was shut once more as the duo exited, assuming Shiina quickly followed after, leaving Avaritia to her own devices. Lisa never said anything as she briskly began to scale through the corridor, she was rather sullen about the whole exchange. But once they exited out back into the lobby, the artist was gone.

The short walk back out to the lobby was uneventful at best as Shiina kept herself deep in thought for the most part. There was a lot for the Tsurinai to think about after this meeting, but not just about the day itself. Lisa's disposition somewhat reminded her of it, but... well, actually, she supposed it was better to just get to it.
//"Huh, guess that Jacob guy finished his deposit..."// The Wild Card scratched the back of her head. //"That reminds me, Lisa... I saw that you asked the Class 2s for a duel."// She hummed but spoke softly enough for only the Princess to hear. //"You're gonna prove yourself, right? Just so you know, I'm rooting for you. One thing the Tsurinai Family believes is that those with power should be at the top."// Despite her usual way of carrying herself, Shiina uttered those words with surprising ease... Having been the underdog her entire life up until this point, she was made to firmly believe that might made right not only by her family but by her cousin as well, who supported her growth and encouraged her to gain power.
This mentality was what turned into her pride over the Wild Card. It was clear that she had been chosen to make use of it as best she could; the difference between Shiina and Lisa was that the former was far more patient when it came to employing it.
//"Just figured I should let you know, that's all. It's not that I don't want our current upperclasswomen in their positions, I just think it'd be nice to see someone else rise up there too."// The Tsurinai smiled wryly and began walking out of the bank. Better Lisa than some of the other Cadets, after all... //"Oh, and if you need a ride, I can take you back to Seven Stars."// Shiina fetched her keys from her pocket and stretched her neck out.
The Lamecia was about to walk out, but paused when hearing about what came out of the Tsurinai's lips. Unlike that sappy Maria, at least the silver-headed Cadet understood where she was coming from or would. She began to turn the rest of her body to face her while putting a hand to the side of her hip, near where her katana was nestling near her.
"Focus on yourself before you show any concern for anyone else... The same goes for me. But I'll win, I hope you catch up."
Her tone was blunt, but honest. There was a confident air about her. She knew that it could be a tough battle, but she just couldn't back down now. The Princess needed to prove herself despite the failings of the earlier night and she needed to validate her strength. The Princess for the last time began to turn away from the Tsurinai and left the premises in stride.

Shiina raised an eyebrow at the response, but it satisfied her. The Tsurinai smirked proudly, as was customary of her family. She had as much pride in her name as she did her power, and the challenge Lisa posed just now... was most fitting of someone bearing both. The Wild Card retrieved her gloves and slid them on one at a time.
//"Catch up, huh...? I certainly hope that won't soon be my line, dear Princess."//
Shiina just walked out of the building afterwards. Though this little conversation was brief, it had definitely intrigued the Wild Card on whether or not Lisa would manage to pull through. She had fought by Maria's side in the recent past and knew what the nun was capable of... but Athena was more of a mystery to her. Of course, that was only because she realized her teammates could grow in a short time.
If only she could have the moxie Lisa showed in challenging them. Maybe she could improve herself that way as well.
