A Bar's Makeover (Selenus)

With a smile of relief, Callie would place down her mop in its usual corner and look around the bar to admire her cleaning work. They weren't open currently but she usually liked to get the place looking nice before customers actually turned up in the day and as she planned on going out that day she thought it be best to get it out of the way early. As much as cleaning could be a little boring at time, she was always proud of her work after it was done and loved it when others took notice of it... Which gave the young vixen an idea...

Heading into the kitchen quickly, Callie would grab a handful of tall glasses and place them on her usual tray she used to carry glasses and mugs around. She'd then fill each one of them up to about three quarters full of water before heading out the back to search in for something. The girl would have a huge smile on her face as she walked back in with a collection of different flowers she had found nearby and placed a single one into each of the glasses before taking them all out into the main part of the bar and placing a single glass on each table.

"Doesn't that just make the whole place look so much more alive and beautiful~?" The girl would hum happily to herself as she admired her own efforts at making the place look pretty.

"Y-you realize that flowers might not be the best thing for a place where people get drunk and want to throw things about ya know...?" Terra would reply from within Callie's mind, watching the event unfold through her eyes. "Although, they're in glasses I guess, not everyone is that... Potty... Nehehe."

The night had grown older, and Selenus had been faced with not one, not two, but three disturbing realizations. The first: Another child had been involuntarily assimilated into the group of misery that was the psyche terrorists. The second: He was beginning to think that for some reason the forces that somehow determined who would be assaulted by demons next were actively targeting children. And the third: 8D HAD A PERSONA

A robotic clown, the absent first ever animated TV character, a robotic wolf and an absent ancient Norse beast responsible for the end of the world walked into a bar. Selenus noticed that Callie was inside, and gave her a quick and dismissive hello, too concerned with matters at hand to make small talk. 8D went ahead into the basement, looking for more privacy. With a disgruntled “be right there” Selenus decided to finish up some duties behind the counter that he’d regretted leaving undone before leaving for the night. It mostly involved some spots on plates or specific locations of food and silverware that Selenus imagined could just be overlooked, but had later changed his mind.

As Selenus worked in a rushed manner, he noticed that somebody had placed a flower in a glass on top of each table in the bar. It was curious to him that he hadn’t noticed these before, and so he walked out from behind the counter and approached the nearest one. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that it was a common goldenrod. However, when he approached another one, he realized it wasn’t the same kind: this one was a black-eyed susan. Now that he noticed, nearly every table boasted a different flower, though they were all relatively similar in color.

Selenus turned around to face the present little girl. “Callie?” He would call out. “Did you put these flowers here?”

Callie would spin round happily as she heard the door of the bar swing open. Fortunately she'd already hidden away her tail and had her hood up as precaution for the last time she thought being in the bar was safe when they weren't open and it wasn't. It was lucky she did too as 8D came in being closely followed by the super cool robo doggie that she never seemed to get the time to talk to...

The girl would run up to 8D and give him a big hug which he'd return before telling her he had to go work on something. With a light nod she'd smile and let him head off before peering over to see what the robo doggie was doing. He was seemingly getting his part of his work done early too! That was good, it was always better to be ahead of things than be behind on everything!

She'd smile pleased with herself as she saw Selenus notice the flowers she'd placed around the place and would hold her hands behind her back and rock back and forth from her heel to toe nonchalantly as he asked if the flowers where her doing. "Maaayyybbbeeee~." She'd say with a light giggle before turning to look at them again herself. "I thought they made the place look much livelier and pretty! Instead of all dusty and dark and brown! Don't you agree?" She'd say, reaching out with one hand to pet the metallic wolfs head gently.

Selenus gently picked up a flower from one of the water-filled cups and examined it closely. There was still visible natural dew on it, which meant it had been plucked not too long ago, and from an open space or at the very least a humid one. Scraping the center of it with his tail yielded a bit of pollen dust, which meant it was definitely not plastic. Had Callie been out to East Eden? He doubted flowers like these grew naturally in the backlight. Maybe there were a few back-alleys were moss grew and a few gardens, but he hadn’t seen any so far, if that was the case. “These are very pretty, Callie. Where’d you find them?”

It was a nice feeling to see someone else appreciating her little touch to the place, she wasn't sure why she randomly decided to do it in the first place but it seemed like a good idea and hopefully more than just robo-pup thought so! "Thanks Sele, glad that someone noticed so soon!" It was a little disappointing than 8D hadn't noticed, but he did kinda walk through quite fast and at least he gave her a hug. So he probably just didn't register them yet.

"Weeelllll..." Callie would begin, taking a short pause after her over exaggerated 'well' to try and build it up as being way more impressive than it really was. "We have a small little area behind the bar with some grass that no one ever really goes. I brought back some flowers from East Eden one time and decided to see if they'd grow if I planted them back there!... B-but they don't tend to get enough light to last long... S-so I brought them in here this time instead!"

Hm, so Callie had been growing these plants indoors? Well, lamp light couldn't compete with ultra-violet sunlight in terms of helping plants keep their electron transport chain going, but it'd do for a short while, he guessed. "Y'know, if you really wanted to take up flowerkeeping as a hobby - or just wanted to pretty up the place- , I could've given you a few pointers. I'm a bit of a nature nut." Selenus chuckled earnestly. "I dunno if sustaining flowers on tap water and lamp light alone is the best idea. Besides..." The robot dog commanded his tail to extend and go all the way across the bar to the furthest away table and pick up an orange-ish flower with curved petals, then bring it to him. "...I'm pretty sure this one right here's actually a bit of an allergen. Uh, that means it makes people sneezy and stuff." He didn't mean to insult Callie's intelligence, but he did realize that "allergen" isn't a very known term, even among adults.

"Huh? You don't look like a nut though..." Callie would say with a slight confused tilt to her head. "Or do I have to crack you open to find the nut inside?" She'd add with a light hearted giggle, some of the phrases people said were weird, she knew they probably had a different meaning like they always did. But if you actually just took most of them for what the words actually meant they didn't make sense at all! A-a lot of the time... "It'd be cool if you did help out though! I was mainly doing it out of boredom if I'm honest... But it does make the place look a lot brighter, right? A-and, uhm, whad'ya mean lamp light...?"

"Really... Are you sure...?" Callie would look with interest at the flower that Selenus had picked up, not really noticing much of a difference between it and the bounty of other orange looking flowers that stood atop the various other tables. She'd carefully pick it up from the robo doggies tail to inspect it closer, sniffing at it lightly and almost instantly afterwards sneezing abruptly, sending the flower hurtling towards the ground. "'Sniff.' Can't argue with you on that one anymore, hehe."

"That's... not what..." Selenus wondered whether it was really worth it correcting Callie... that is, until she giggled and basically gave away the fact that she was teasing him, at which point he simpy harrumphed in a faux-angry fashion. "Har dee har har, Callie. If you did crack me open you'd find nothing but wires, computers and other dangerous stuff." That and a precious otherworldly stone that powered his entire mechanism, allowed him to have a self-sustaining power source and gave him the gift of intelligent ego, but that was something better kept for a later conversation. "You'd never do that though, would you?"

"Sure, I'd be glad to help. I uh... I question the decision of adorning the place where people will most likely get drunk and throw things around with flowers of all things, but it's still worth a try." The bar could certainly use redecoration of any kind; flowers weren't exactly what he would've gone for, but he couldn't precisely fault Callie for feeling they were an appropiate means to that end. She was a little girl, after all, and a very sheltered one as far as he understood. "They are in glass containers though, so hopefully all our guests won't be so potty." He'd chuckle heartily to himself, not having been able to contain the urge to make the pun.
