The Background
|
History: Susan was born in the Philipines and lived a very poverty stricken life with her mother and ill father. They lived very withdrawn lives, her mother doing laundry to make money and her father doing odd jobs whenever capable of getting out of bed. Their life was set in stone and it felt like there was no escape from the very poor conditions they lived in. Susan, however, decided that there had to be more to life than being poor and bored all the time. Thus, began her first real excursion into becoming the social person she is today. She could make friends easily with the other children of her village and was able to befriend some of the village’s enders. Her name became known across the village and everyone knew who she was and most considered her a friend or even a part of their family. Susan became the center of attention when it came to the village, and she adored the attention and feeling of importance it left in her heart. These feelings would follow her as she was able to persuade the village people to give them enough money so she and her family could move to America where they could make a life for them and send back money to help the village out. And that’s what the small family did once arriving in America and settling down in the suburban lifestyle. Her mother was easily able to get a job translating Pilipino articles and books into English for a publishing company and with proper medicine, her dad started working as a builder in the nearby city. Life became quite prosperous for the small family as her mother and father’s dedication to working off the loan to the village made them very popular at their work places and they were able to climb the ladder of business. Susan also found success in the school she went too. Her foreign accent and obvious foreign looks caused her to become quite popular in the Elementarily school she attended, and she eventually became the talk of all the classes as she eagerly helped the teachers and was seen as a role model to all of her fellow students. She was able to become the center of attention at her school just as she did at her village and she again adored the attention and feeling of worth she felt. However, the family’s prosperous life would soon come to an abrupt halt as her father became fatally injured during a construction accident. He didn’t last longer than a day and the family mourned his death. Susan up to this point had never experienced death before, even in the poor conditions the village had, she had never seen someone die of sickness or injury. She felt an unknowable sadness and eventually developed a fear that her father had forgotten her in his death. This fear festered into a fear that everyone would one day forget her, and the attention loving child soon developed a need for that attention and a need to be remembered by everyone she met. This change in personality, however, was never noticed by her class mated, teachers, or even her mother. Any subtle changes in personality were simply chocked up as her being a mourning child. These unchecked issues eventually would worsen the day of the Divide and the events that followed afterwards. Susan and her mother had decided to visit the R&D site for a small vacation, spending a few days there to see the sites and possibly forget their worries. However, the Divide tore the world asunder and the aftereffects cemented the fears the girl had. The outpour of demons had destroyed most of where the girl had been living, including her school, and all communications to her village became permanently unavailable as the village was wiped out. The horrors of death that the girl witnessed that night accompanied with the amount of loss she and her mother had underwent caused her irrational fear and need to become cemented into her personality. Without people noticing her and giving her attention, they would never remember her in death. Eventually, the girl and her mother were able to find residence and shelter in Endymion, and the two settled in Sunlake Palms to try and forget the horrors of their past. Her mother works at a publishing firm once again as a translator and Susan now attends Seven Stars Academy as a second-year student. With her rising needs, she quickly became the most popular girl in her class as well as ascending the ladder of social circles in the school. She’s popular and is given attention, and she’s content with that for the moment. Though, the rising tensions going on within Endymion may cause issues for the ‘Ideal Girl’. She may be swept into the hidden war that is raged within Endymion between the Cadets and Psyche Terrorists and how she’ll react is an unknown thought. With her unrealistic needs, she may be driven mad by the whole experience.
