| A waft of brackish smoke blew forth toward the little girl, just as Ritsuko had warned. The pungent odor of toxic vapors licked at her nostrils... but luckily the demonic guitarist was toward the rear of the enemy and not in its line of site. The beast chick would be okay, she looked quick enough to avoid it just fine which she did. But that wasn't her problem until things went sour again like they were moments ago. However, she was still on her toes in case anything else happened. Ritz had edged away just as she'd done before but that only seemed to make it target her. This time she was prepared. The musician might not have been educated, but she wasn't fucking stupid. As soon as she left her groove it'd hurt again, and thus she kept a bleary eye out in anticipation of the creature's next savage assault. Her cautious state of mind was only bolstered further through the Devil Summoner's vicious scream. Ritsuko's emotional control seemed to be doing its job. Good. Maybe it'd get the monster to focus on them instead of her, they were the ones making all the racket. She'd remain quiet as her melody tapered off, the beat slowing to a thick and powerful strum of anticipation as she raised her guitar further upward to block her chest and face. - Stats & Combat Modifiers:

| "Noted!" The girl would say with a smile, she wasn't exactly happy about the fact he was planning on shooting that thing again, yet at least she knew it would be coming this time. Callie would watch slightly confused as she tried to work out what their enemy was doing, only just at the last moment realizing that it was sending a vial smelling smoke her way and barely jumping out of the way of the full blast of it. "Eesh... This whole thing is a real number on the senses.""You're telling me, try being stabbed into the thing. Nehehe.""I can't imagine that's much better, no, hehe. But sorry we gotta keep at it!" They couldn't lay off the attack yet, not until this thing was taken care of. And as it seemed both her team mates were just preparing themselves for something again, she'd take the initiative to strike again before this creature could prepare another attack of its own. Lance was a bit disappointed that the melody had stopped, but he was far too focused on the task at hand to lament it for long. A quick glance to the guitarist showed that she was taking far more interest in protecting herself; probably a good idea considering the circumstances. There was no way this thing was just going to let them get away with pummeling the crap out of it like they had. He waited for the dagger girl to move out of the way of his shot, narrowing an eye as he caught her one-sided conversation. It didn't sound like she was talking to him--particularly since it seemed like whoever she was speaking to had responded to her comment--so he assumed it was something like his deal with Oniwaka, only whatever it was happened to be invisible. He didn't linger on it for long, though, as a more pressing thought eclipsed the minor distraction. Why wasn't their enemy attacking? He narrowed an eye with disgust as the thing's vile tongue protruded from its mouth, licking its lips. Was it... anticipating something? Taunting them? Either way, the teen decided he didn't like the action, and his grip tightened on the revolver. "Pull!" he called, the fox girl's only warning before he pulled the trigger. Still clinging to feeble logic, he figured a few more shots should be able to take the damn thing down. | |

| The strum of Ritsuko's song would regress into high-pitched whine as Aoide's strings vibrated. The creature was acting strangely, not even fighting back as they wailed on it as if it never even cared in the first place. It looked beaten and bloodied yet still she was wary. Underestimating the abomination wasn't something she was about to do twice. She was ill-suited to fight it, if the damn thing wanted to it could probably tear her limb from limb. But there was safety in numbers as little as she'd like to admit it. She wouldn't be able to do this alone... but that was no reason to not look out for number one. Trying to remain focused in her "distracted" state, the adrenaline and putrid odor doing nothing for her turning stomach and dizzy head. She swore she saw it look at her with a wicked grin, foaming at the mouth, prepared to eat her alive... That was what felt wrong. It's not that it didn't care, it was up to something. As she prepared to set her feet the sound of a gunshot made her wince. "Back th' ffuck up, figh' ssmart or die!" barked the demonic musician in both a concerned cry and furious shout. If any of them weren't careful, this could very quickly go very wrong. She'd already felt it coming... - Stats & Combat Modifiers:

| "H-huh?" The girl would look over in confusion as the boy called out 'Pull' and fired another shot from his gun. Gaahh... S-so that was the signal she got, huh...? Didn't really give her much time but it was better than nothing. She'd hold her head with her hands where her ears where still though to try to reduce the ringing the gunshot caused. She really wished they made those things a little quieter... Did they really need to be THAT loud? Shaking her head to try to regain focus, Callie would catch a glimpse of the strange creature licking its lips... T-that didn't make the girl feel too easy... The thing looked pretty battered up at this point, yet it was showing such confidence without actually doing anything... A-and that kinda scared her more than when it WAS trying to attack her. Besides her ears still kinda hurt so instead of her usual approach, the girl would take the guitar players advice and stay back ready to take whatever this thing had in store for them. | As if it were prophecy the demon unleashed unveiled exactly what it'd been planning all along. Sharp tendrils erupted from its body like the world's most fucked up pufferfish impaling the trio on its piercing rotten barbs. Ritz was nearly fast enough to avoid it, but several pointy spikes slammed into her guitar where her chest would've been as one entered her thigh. "Nrrrgggggghhhh...! Ffuck off!" she growled, sweeping Aoide downward to loose herself from the spines. The smaller girl was similarly prepared for the assault. The Devil Summoner wasn't nearly so lucky. What she'd warned of became fact as he was pierced through the sternum and fell limp to the ground. The miserable wretch knew she had right to be worried. As he hit the floor it only steeled her resolve to avoid the same fate. Even as drunk as she happened to be the stakes were never lost on her. She didn't think she could outrun it, not in her uncoordinated state. The beast would need to die. Even with the upheaval of the situation, the danger that presented itself, Ritsuko felt some sick sort of satisfaction knowing she was still a better fighter than those for which she had caution. But they weren't out of the woods yet. "Iff you don' wanna end up like him y'll kill thiss assshole or die...!" she threatened in a taunting giggle/vicious growl. Her fingers returned to the frets as Ritz began to carve out an ominous melody, filling the air with dread. She imparted more power to the eager young fighter, although not any born of spite, hate, or anticipation. This was fear. The fear of death, the most powerful stimulant known to man. Nnnnnnnrrrgh...!

| "Owwww..." Callie would wince as the sharp barbs pierced into her, she was glad she was prepared for it as it at least lessened the blow of it. Plus she was pretty sure the smaller target she made herself be by doing so made less of those needle things hit into her at all. "Heh... Wow this thing really isn't messing around, is he?" The girl would say mostly to herself as she tried to brush off the needles that had hit into her. Callie would look up to the guitarist first to see if they were okay, luckily it seemed they had prepared for the attack as well yet was still pretty scratched up from it like she was. Yet she'd turn with her eyes wide when the guitarist mentioned their other team mate. W-was he okay? H-he wasn't dead was he? S-she was pretty sure she could still see him moving, which was a relief, yet now she was feeling a little nervous. Could she have ended up that bad too if she wasn't careful...? "Y-you're right! W-we gotta take this thing down, fast! We need to make sure he's alright but we can't do anything whilst this creature is still in the way!" The girl would call out with a weak smile, she just had to put her all into this now... No messing around, no being silly, gotta be smart! Don't want to get hurt. "Cals, I'll always keep you safe, just be sure to rid that thing and quickly!""O-okay! No messing around now! We can still do this!" - Stats:

| The girl was getting distracted. The both of them were. She was worried about the Devil Summoner and Ritz was more concerned with killing this damn beast, a point proven easily when it lashed out once again and caught the two fighters off-guard. Focused on imbuing her "ally" with more willpower, Ritsuko's fingers couldn't fly to the neck of her guitar quick enough to catch the incoming slash of its vicious claws. It's jagged nails cut into her upper chest quicker than she could block and Ritsuko reeled back a few steps. "Gyaah...!" she yelped in surprise. Just not fast enough, just too uncoordinated. But she'd recover and set her feet again, raising Aoide once more to shield her face and body from the undead menace's next move. "What th' ffuck iss your problem?!" she protested, "Sstop holding back an' ffuckin' kill thiss thing!" She could tell the younger one wasn't fighting to her full potential. It was worry or uncertainty or lack of focus or something else, but her ferocity was lacking. It's like this was a game of pick-up basketball instead of a life or death clash of bone and sinew. If she couldn't figure out quick that there was a very real possibility of closing your eyes and never waking up that's exactly what she would do. She had to fight with intent to kill. Anything less was a death sentence. But Ritz? She wasn't ready to die yet, not now. - Stats & Combat Modifiers:

| "L-listen I'm trying okay! My attacks pretty much bounce right off of him each time I try to land any hit at all!" The vixen would protest back in return as she took a few steps back after being hit again. "Y-you shouting at me isn't helping anything!" She'd continue as she looked over the guitarist, she seemed pretty beaten up by this point and no matter what they may say about having to keep on the offensive. She wasn't about to just stand around and let another person fall to this creature now. "You know what to do Cals... Don't worry, put your mind at rest. Don't let her make you worry, we'll handle this together just like we always do. Okay?" Terra would say to the girl in a reassuring tone as she brought her daggers together again to build up the same light that had healed them all before. She kind of hoped that it would do something for their fallen teammate... Even if it didn't get him up, she hoped it eased his pain a little... "We will take this thing out...
