The best thing about working as a night-time bartender was that you were pretty much free during the days. No real duties to speak of aside from maintaining your own home and taking care of yourself. But it quickly lost it's charm as time moved on. Sure, his job as a bartender was rather pleasant, but the times were not. If Ryan was to be honest with himself, he'd rather sit on the other end of the counter, drinking with his peers and having a good time, but no. As a bartender, you couldn't drink yourself. You had a job to do, and if you got drunk on the job, people would stop coming... That stinkin' bar was his bread and butter for the most part, and it kept him alive, with food, clothes and roof above his head. It wasn't much, and honestly, he would like it better than this buuuut... he had started this little buissness on his own, and he was mighty proud of what it had become. Certainly not a paticularly famous place or anything, but new customers did show up every now and again. Some did become regulars, while others just showed up once, only to never step inside again. Such a shame. Their loss, and his too.

"Another drink? What will it be? Martini? Alright." Ryan replied to the man asking for a drink, as he turned around. Mixing Martinis was rather easy now. He remembered how tough it was to get his first one juuuust right, but now, it was almost second nature to him. In a way, drinkmixing was an artform. An artform rarely ever appreciated by the masses. Now, Martini's were certainly dull to look at, and well, they tasted pretty dull to, in Ryan's mind. But the man wanted one, so who was he to deny him? Of course, he would give the man other suggestions, but somehow, he got the feeling that this customer wouldn't listen to a word he said. "Alright, here you go, sir." Ryan gave his customer the drink with a sort-of fake smile on his lips. And yes, he did not even get a thank you back. Ungrateful prick. Not even tipping. Then again, the guy was rather drunk, this being his first cocktail after a rather sizable amount of beer consumed for a single man. He'd keep an eye on the guy, incase he got too rowdy or passed out... whichever happened first. If either one happened, he'd need to get the guy someplace else, be it on the couch or... the streets, depending on his manners. Being a bar he owned himself, there was no staff to speak of, except himself, really. So he had to do all the heavy lifting. If things got too out of control (Which thankfully it hadn't gotten yet), he did have the phone number to the cops, not that he fancied calling them for assistance... But he didn't exactly want his place trashed beyond repair, now did he?

Booze or no Booze? :: Night [Open] Empty

The Ghost didn't drink too often. Why? Mainly because she hated the hang overs... But with everything that had been happening lately, she wanted to get a little drunk before going to patrol Sunlake Palms again. She had told the kiddies to get ready for bed and she'd be there by eleven to get them ready for tomorrow. How were they getting to school tomorrow? She honestly didn't know... Maybe the next door neighbor would help out. Being a cadet, a stalker, and a private business owner wasn't easy, ya know.

Stepping into the bar was easy, sliding into a seat away from other people was easier. She was an outcast to most usual bar visitors. After all, her presence wasn't exactly liked by people in general. Her weird demeanor, out there clothes, and the air of mystery about her made most people avoid her. Plus, she honestly hated most people at bars. They were easy to read and dull in every aspect. She'd stalk many a night walker and almost all of their stories were the same.

"Hey, pretty boy, how about a drink? Strongest beer ya got~."

She'd say with a flippant wave as she pulled out her tablet. She'd tap on it idly as she checked the orders for future furniture for the parlor. She needed a new idea sooner or later but a muse never struck her... The Tsukuyomi theme was coming together nicely but she wanted to save that for just the right time. Right now she was too busy to devote all her time to such a masterpiece so might as well wait 'till this cadet business was easier on her.

Pretty boy? Huh, that was a new one. Ryan looked up, raising an eyebrow at the guest, chuckling lightly afterwards. "Hm? Alright then, Madam." Ryan replied, grabbing one of the glass mugs behind him, and began pouring her a frothing, amber beverage. "Here you go." The bartender handed her the mug of beer. She sure dressed strange though. The other customers at the bar noticed too, mumbling to eachother behind her back. "So what's your story, eh? Long day at work, or is there something else bothering you?" Non-returning customers usually popped up here when things in their life weren't looking to great, or they were just looking for some way to relieve stress. Alcohol wasn't perhaps the best way of doing so, but it was a way still... to some at least.

She'd sigh gently as she glanced up at the beer that was placed next to her. Oh, mugs, right... Shoot, she hated those things. They made her look all... Manly or something. Gross... But, she wanted a buzz so might as well take a gulp of it. And that's exactly what she did, slamming the mug down afterward, smiling as she did so. God, alcohol was disgusting but dang did it make things feel good.

"Both. 'Nuff said, pretty boy. Say, how's it like to run a bar? Fun? Can't imagine picking up puke after every shift is much fun~. Kee kee kee~!" she'd say with her signature laugh, looking at the young man with slanted eyes. She didn't really know if this guy was worth much thought... But he seemed interested in why she was here, so that was 'nice' of him.

"I run a private business if ya must know. Can't say it's easy running that and bein' a cadet." she'd say with a tip of her head to cover her right eye. She wanted to see a person's reaction to meeting a cadet. At least, one as casual as she was. It'd be amusing if not for a few seconds.

"Hm? What it's like?" Ryan raised an eyebrow and thought about it for a second. "It's okay, I guess. It's not like I have to wipe up puke every day. And really, it's something you'll get used to." The bartender replied with a shrug. "Most of my recurring customers here are now pretty close friends. They kinda just pour their souls out for those willing to listen. So really, by nature we're a pretty closely knit group."
That didn't necessarily mean that Ryan liked all of his customers. Far from it. But those that were nice he cared for... somewhat at least.

The look on Ryan's face shifted somewhat when he heard the word Cadet. "Working for the Queen, eh? We don't get a lot of your kind around here. Not that I especially care too much. A customer is still a customer. So long as you don't go breaking my stuff, I have no issues with you..." That being said, Ryan didn't really agree with how the queen ran things around here. After the Great Divide and all that, it felt like the Queen kept things under wraps... as if to prevent some horrible truth from everyone. That, and it felt like she was somehow related to that incident. Of course, he wasn't going to dismiss her outright, as she still had done a lot of good for Endymion as a whole... But the issues were still there nontheless. A lot of things were left unexplained...

She'd sneer at the pretty boy. Heck, looked like there was a dimwit within the midst of the masses. She lost interest in him quickly. Family and close-knit and love and barf, whatever... This was a bar, not some therapy circle. She'd roll her eyes, though, looking at him with her tilted hat covering an eye.

"Sounds really boring... Getting information out of people just because they don't know how to shut up... Ugh, insufferable. No point in even thinking about them, if you ask me." she'd say in response, taking another sip of her beer. Eugh, at times like this she wished she were a smoker. Fewer hangovers and less feeling like crap afterward.

"Tsk, don't say crap like that. We're here to protect your ungrateful faces. We ain't terrorists, pretty boy. Know the difference." she'd say with a glare at him. She didn't believe that statement whatsoever after recent events, mind, but who really cared? As long as the brainless masses knew that, then everything was fine. Living a happy lie was better than knowing the truth for ninety percent of people... Her? Nah. She wanted to know exactly what was going on in Class Zero and everything the Queen was hiding... She hoped she died spectacularly... Heh, if only it wasn't all big talk.

"Well, it's their choice, really. I can't help it that they like to blabber while drunk, now can I?" Ryan chuckled. This woman was something else. Odd for sure, but it wasn't a bad thing in this case. Most of his guests are usually kind of boring and well... normal. If that's even a term that can be used to describe a person. "Insufferable seems a little harsh, don't you think?" He asked, a bit curious behind why she chose that paticular word. She seemed to be looking for people that stood out, much like herself, if Ryan had to guess.

Well... That was sorta what he had come to expect from a Cadet these days. A defensive response. "So, how's the beer? Good enough for you?" He asked curiously. "If you need a refill, don't hesitate to give me a holler."
