"U-Ugh... Do we have to go to the library?"

The accented voice of the Wandering Parlor Ghost would say to the little girl who was holding her hand and leading her towards a library. Honestly, it seemed as if the child was the adult and the adult was the child! The Parlor Ghost had been complaining all day as they walked to the book empire with tedious groans and rolling eyes. She didn't like books... She had a tablet to read things with after all!

"Well, yeah, we have to Ghosty! I need a book for school, okay?"

The little girl would respond to the Parlor Ghost's last failed attempt at complaining as they entered the library's front doors. Ick, it smelt like learning... She didn't complete school just to do more of it! Old hag making her get an education in the God forsaken apocalypse of all things...

The little girl would let go of the woman's hand though, looking around with wide eyes and a happy smile. She wasn't happy very often, and seeing that true smile made the Ghost's heart melt a little. She'd do anything to preserve that smile...

"I'm going over there, okay? Do you want to come help me find the book I need?" the girl would say in her small voice, the Ghost smiling down at her and nodding in return. The two would head to one of the aisles containing books on plant life and the environment. It seemed the little girl had a project due for Science class or the likes.

The two would stay silent, small whispers passing between the two as they tried to find a book that had the information the girl needed. The Parlor Ghost was kinda bad at telling what books were what... Plus, looking it up on the internet wasn't always easy after all. Sometimes it took longer than checking the books themselves!

It was one of those somewhat tedious days at work when nothing was really happening. Maybe people were too busy shopping elsewhere, or weren't in the mood for books, but whatever the case, it had been pretty quiet at the library that day. Then again, when is it ever not? It isn't the same as an always crowded grocery store.

Very much resembling the boring mood of the day, Phoenix was spending his time leaning against the desk he was sitting at, staring at the nearest shelves of books in mild disinterest. He had been reading a random book about animal life up until recently, but everyone would get tired of reading eventually, no matter how entertaining the text may be. Man, the clock certainly moves slow at times.

Soon enough, a disturbance did arrive however, in the form of two females waltzing in and seemingly heading to the shelves right away, searching for something. The red eyed librarian would simply proceed to watch them from his station for the moment, not seeing the need to meddle just yet. If they happened to need the help in finding some specific book, they could always come around and ask, and he would be damned if he always went around asking people if they needed any assistance. Unless they were extremely obvious about needing it. Many of them came around just to browse casually, not having any extremely narrow demands to begin with. Regardless, he would keep an eye on them for the moment as he rested his chin on his folded arms. If nothing else, people watching could pass some time better than examining the shelves from distance...

So, the biggest issue with just trying to find a book in a library was so many other books were surrounding it. Like, the book could be right in front of you but bigger books with more distracting numbers or names made you stare at them. It was advertising, but in the book world... And books sadly didn't cause ripples so the Parlor Ghost was honestly just really lost here... Sweet Anna-lee was doing absolutely peachy, which was really good! Except neither of them could find the blasted book... Ergh...

"Ummm... So what's the title again?" the Parlor Ghost would ask with a small hum, staring at the shelf of books with squinted eyes. Maybe she should have brought glasses? Eh, it didn't really matter to her. Sweet Anna-lee had good enough eye sight for the two of them!

"Did you forget already? It's called 'Cycle of Carrots.' Don't forget again, okay?" she'd say as she looked at the books that were eye level to her. The Parlor Ghost would sigh gently, looking at the books with an angry glare. Why couldn't a carrot book be shaped like a carrot! Or, like, be SUPER orange!? It would make things super easy...

"I'll be right back, sweety. Let me go find a librarian or something..." she'd say with a gentle sigh, patting the child's head before stepping out of the aisle and looking for said librarian(s?). It didn't take her long to find the one lazing on the desk. At least, she thought he was a librarian... Hm...

"Hey! You're a librarian, right? So, do you happen to know where a carrot book is at?" she'd ask in a whispered voice, smiling at the man with curious eyes. She wanted the book so she could take Sweet Anna-lee home and then go stalking! Or get back to work... Or something... Eh, complicatiooooons~!

It was obvious that the two newcomers were busying themselves with looking for some books, but from his current position, Phoenix couldn't really tell more than that, or hear what they were saying to each other. The older woman didn't appear to be too happy to be in the library though, which would me mildly entertaining if he didn't already stare at different kinds of customers, sometimes for days on end. Of course, most of them didn't come here with sour faces or such, but hey, not like it mattered to him, did it? Hearing out people's stories and frustrations wasn't in his job description anyway.

Assisting with books was, however, and it would seem he wouldn't avoid that with this pair of visitors, as the woman in question sauntered over soon enough. Eh? So they were trying to find something specific then? Rubbing the back of his head slightly, the blue haired man would straighten up in his seat as he was approached, a momentary confused look crossing his face.

Carrot books? What was that even supposed to be? Well, alright, he could assume she meant a book about carrots, but that in itself wasn't very helpful. There were several possibilities when it came to books which contained some sort of information about plants, carrots included in the mix.

''I could assist you, but it would be preferable if you had more information than that. There are several books which have information about carrots inside them included. Are you looking for some specific title or author, or just something about carrots in general?'', he would ask the woman after giving it a moment of thought. He'd rather not dig books up unnecessarily and then find out they weren't suitable, so it was best to ask whether there was anything more to go by than just that...

Well, that was a reaction she supposed. She didn't really care though... Libraries were a bore when you weren't researching someone's heritage to try and find ways to better stalk them. It was just a pointless endeavor when she had almost every book in existence on her tablet! Except the book Sweet Anna-lee needed was this bicycle carrot thingy.

"Well, I know what the name is... I just didn't know if you were a librarian or not." she'd say with a small pout before shrugging gently. She didn't really feel like playing around with this guy. He looked hella dull and boring... Not really worth her major focus, at least not right yet when that delicious feast was still in her life... Kee kee kee~...

"It's called 'Cycle of Carrots' or something like that... My little sister needs it for school for some project or whatever... Why they don't have it at the school library baffles me." she'd say with a small shake of her head and a sigh. Why would they give out a list of books to use on your project when those books weren't even at the library they owned? School had gotten weird in the past few y-year... S-She supposed~.
