| "... and thus, we see here the repercussions of America's Great Depression on other countries, on how even that played a role in the start of World War II. If anybody has any questions, see me after class." Telos said, concluding a lecture on World History before the Great Divide. today, he had come here to be a substitute teacher on Pre-Divide World History, as lately, James needed help finding funds to keep his bookstore open, so Telos volunteered to help out. "Now, some of you, according to this, asked why we are learning about this, and why this is important. Well, you were assigned to go answer this question last night, and judging by your answers... only a few people got it exactly right. It was to establish historical context as to the general 'mood' of America at that point in time. Which is important, as emotions can affect many actions, and America was a prominent world superpower at the time, so this is especially important." He added, making sure that everyone was taking notes. "Now then, please proceed to read pages 132-140 in the textbook to assist you when I hand out today's work... and to inform me of any questions you may have regarding that at anytime for the rest of the period." Telos said, following the lesson plan the best he could. - OoC Notes::
Haru, I think, would be one of the only people to have gotten the question of last night's homework correct. IMO.

| There was a lot of reason for the girl at the back of the class to not be paying attention to the lecture that was being held at the front of the class. While it was true her classmates had either forgotten about or pretended to ignore the young man that sat in the far back corner of the room, she had not forgotten him. While his upper body was hunkered low across his desk in a manner that made it seem he either had trouble seeing the paper before him or was just that absorbed into the taking down the notes, the girl that watched him with a dazed look knew that under those dark locks that shadowed his face was a face that was just gorgeous. Smooth skin, pretty dark eyes, and perfectly kissable looking lips! The dark haired stranger had it all going for him for sure making the girl wonder where this beauty had been hiding all this time and why was it today that it was her first day seeing him? Intrigued by the mysterious new comer, she would lay her head down on her desk as she continued to stare and plot how she was going to actually approach the guy when this bore of a class was over. Meanwhile, the young man that had taken up the most isolated of the desks in the back did his best not to be disruptive to the class he honestly did not belong to. He was not a student, but since the doors weren’t exactly barred to the curious, he had managed to slip into a history class and find a seat before the crowds had come. While it was at first tempting to leave the class when the first few students came in, the dark haired young man forced himself to stay in his seat as he observed the reaction each student had to him. Outside of some nervous looks and a few curious gazes, most of the students didn’t seem to recognize him much to his relief. There was only one overly dressed student that had approached his desk after taking a second glance at him that had him on edge. The wild haired youth had given him a good stare down 10 minutes before class started; however, acting meek and giving a nervous smile in response to such a study made the student huff as he concluded quite confidently that there was no way a mouse such as himself could be the famous idol he had assumed he was. Playing dumb, the young man had asked who the other spoke of, but being out of the know only seemed to disgust the wild head student as he waltz off to his own desk. Phew. He had managed to throw off a pretty dedicated fan, so perhaps he wouldn’t have anym ore trouble today. Or at least that is what he hoped as the teacher arrived and the students settled in for lecture. The subject matter spoken about was enough to cause some students to zone out and put others to sleep; however, for the young man in the back, the subject was fascinating as he absorbed what was being told as he captured it all either in small drawings or notes written in Japanese. When the teacher instructed the class to read certain pages from the book to assist with an assignment he was about to hand out, the dark haired man would pause in his note taking as he watched even the sleepy ones go for their bags to pull out a book….Though the more unprepared students reached to a basket under the desk where a copy of the book the school held resided. Observing rather than mimicking, the young man would nod inwardly about something before going back to make a note. So focused he was on his task that he did not notice he was still being watched by the girl across the room who didn’t seem to be listening at all as she continued her staring and day dreaming. - Relevant Strengths/Weaknesses:
—Strength Name: Disguise —Description: Being a performer that has been placed in various roles including female roles due to how easy it is to doll him up, Haru is very good at covering up who he really is under many masks. His acting skills only add to this ability. This skill makes it easy for him to hide in plain sight. He currently is dressed down to appear as an ordinary student.
—Weakness Name: Intimidating —Description: No matter how he tries, he cannot hide his face from the world. As a result of being so popular peers his age are usually to nervous or giddy to approach him. Top that with his mature attitude and not just anyone can easily approach him. It makes social life an awkward affair and only adds to the difficulty of bonding with him.

| Telos sat back and watched the class as they did the work, consulting the lesson plan, and about 20 or so minutes into the work, moved onto the next step written on it, to be done to the students if the majority of them chose to sleep rather than work. "I cannot tell, if, by human standards, if this teacher is either incredibly cruel, or incredibly well prepared." He thought as he saw what was written on it.
"Your attention, please." He said, clearing his throat the best he could as he gently tapped his fingers on the desk as he waited for the whole class to completely do so. When he saw that there were still some sleeping, he repeated the order with a bit more stern inflection, causing some of the people next to those still sleeping to shake a sleeping person awake. When this didn't completely rouse the class, he decided to take things into (as humans put it) his own hands. "WAKE UP!" He yelled, tapping his cane on the ground twice loudly to emphasize this. That woke up everyone and got them to give him their complete undivided attention. It also caused those who were still sleeping by then to loose whatever sense of 'pity' he had.
"Now, for those of you who did as I said the first or second times, I apologize for the lack of warning. As for the rest of you... frankly, you deserve what your teacher has in stock for you. Specifically, a pop quiz on today's lecture. Clear your desks now, please." He said, causing a majority of groans to come from the class as they did so and he passed them around.
"If you finish early, you can resume your classwork, and if you had done that, you may do other quiet work. If not, it shall be assigned as homework." He said. "You have 30 minutes. Begin." he announced curtly, settling back to watch, and decided to do a quick headcount. That was when he noticed something odd. He counted again to make sure he was not mistaken. There were supposed to be twenty people in the class total, according to the roll-call sheet. So why were there 21? "I suppose I will have to address that concern after the quiz." he thought.

| Some of the class worked and some choose to stare at their paper or flat out go back to sleep believing that having a book propped up before them would make them look like they were hard at work.
Observing the class for a few seconds, Haru became quite curious as to why some preferred to sleep rather than engage in their studies. Maybe he was trained differently, but the lack of effort was a bit saddening to the young man who believed in working for what you got in life...even if he really didn’t have to do that thanks to his position in life. Even so he hated having things handed to him on silver platter and so drove himself to work hard and be good at what he did because he had perfected the skill. Seeing others fail to take such a stride in life left him wondering about the future of the city if these "kids" were their future.
He would ponder this mystery for only a second longer before his eyes would turn to the paper that was handed out as a work assignment.
Glancing at the paper handed to him , he would smirk a bit at what he saw. These seemed fairly simple questions for him, so let’s see just how well he did with just notes and no book. Setting to work, he would answer the easy ones first before resorting to notes for the more challenging ones. He was actually going through the question easily enough and enjoying pretending to be a student until about 20 minutes down the road, the teacher spoke up causing him to pause in his work and look up.
Watching the teacher, he would wait for him to say more, but instead found that the man was becoming quite agitated when his first few calls out to the class didn’t seem to do catch the students attention. So instead he decided to yell to get the attention of the class and boy did it work. The sound jolted the class awake and even caused the daydreaming girl to pay attention to him.
When the pop quiz issue came up causing many to moan and groan as they reluctantly put away their books and other items for this dreaded thing, Haru found himself mimicking the others and when he was given the paper that made some look like they wanted to cry, Haru found himself a bit perplexed at the situation. There were only three questions on the page and from his point of view easy enough to answer….but then again he had been paying attention so maybe that was the point of this punishment? To reward those who paid attention and harm those that didn’t?
Haru wasn’t quite sure, but he did the work anyway and when done, he’d follow the first few students to the desk to turn it into the teacher...

| As the students began to slowly hand their quizzes in one by one, Telos looked at each name written on it, and determined if it was on the list or not. It didn't take long before he found the person he needed, and quickly acted on this information. "You there." He said, pointing to a black-haired man. "See me after class. As for the rest of you... no talking. I do not wish to have to yell again, and I am confident that neither do you." he said, sitting back down on the chair behind the desk. - OOC notes::
The person Telos is referring to is Haru.

| Haru would hand in his paper and turn to go back to his seat. However, as he heard the teacher call out, he would pause as he looked over his shoulder at the teacher. The guy was looking dead at him and giving him a command to boot. Staying calm, Haru would give him a small nod, much like a kid getting into trouble. The action was innocent and natural enough for any student that had been called out in front of the class and his actions as he returned to his desk were equally normal by student standards. Sitting back down and slouching a bit in his seat, he folded his arms much in the fashion that an embarrassed or moody student would as some of the class look over at him or even had the nerve to snicker about what had occurred.
Heh. He guess kids these days liked seeing others get in trouble, but despite this he did not drop the act. He kept up although inside, the young man did not feel any ill will towards the situation he was in nor the usual nerves of being found out. If anything he was somewhat impressed by the careful eye of this guy who watched the class. It was this careful eye that allowed the young man to continue to play his part as student until the end of class. And it was this very eye that caused him to stay after the class was over just to see what this guy would actually do with him once they were face-to-face.

| Once the bell rang, the children cleared out of the room in a hurry except for one. The one he had called out earlier. He walked twoards him and began to speak. "Normally, I was under the impression that most students prefer to ditch class. Not join one. Especially something that would be considered 'boring' so to speak." He said.
"Now, all I want to know is your name and why you decided to join today's class. I'm not going to report you, I just wish to know." He said. "You almost succeed in fooling me too. Except there are only supposed to be twenty students in this class, and all of them showed up today... except when I did a headcount, I counted twenty... plus one. You being the plus one. From there, I cross referenced the names on each quiz with the ones on the attendance. That's how I figured out you were the one." He added.

| The bell rang, the students fled, and soon the only people left in the room was himself and the man that acted as the teacher for the class. Staying in his seat, Haru would lean back in his chair as he listened to the other speak, his curiosity remaining hidden as he observed the man before him with an expression that was calm and tranquil.
“Aww my game is up then?” the young man would begin giving a mock pout for a few seconds before switching it around and smiling lightly as dark eyes looked up at the other. “I guess I didn’t take into account that someone would take notice of an extra student. The last class I sat in on didn’t seem to bother with a head count, so I guess I thought it would be alright to do so again. As for why I came here? Well, I wanted to learn of course and history has always been fun for me at least. So here I am. Besides why would you need to report me to anyone? I am not breaking and entering and this place is open to those that want to learn is it not? Last I checked there wasn’t a price for learning,” he would say his answer honest enough..though it did leave out some things he would not part with so easily.
As for a name….
“My name?” he would repeat as he folded his arms contemplating this one for a bit before reopening his mouth. “Hatsu. And you, Mr…?” he would trail off tilting his head at the other as he gave him an innocent glance, his motives and true self remaining hidden the whole time.

| "There isn't here and now, but such things exsist. Frankly, I consider the commodification of knowledge offensive." He remarked, nodding at the boy's explanation. He believed, it fully well knowing there were always exceptions to the norm. "Mr. Techne. Telos Techne." He said, nodding, holding his hand out for him to shake. "Did you enjoy today's class, Hatsu?" He asked him. | |

| Haru would fold his arms as he let out a light hum to the words spoken.
“I suppose it does have a price elsewhere, but I am glad it is not enforced here. It is nice to have open doors to let those who want to learn come right on in. Can’t say I much approve of the idea of paying for an education, but I suppose others see it as a business rather than something to use to better help society.” Some parts of the world were strange like that. Demanding a price for knowledge. The concept seemed down right odd considering he had never had to deal with such matters in this city. It made him wonder though. Why did some see the whole affair as business only? Wouldn’t be more beneficial to have a system where education was free? That way the citizens could be more in the know on how to perform their work and what not and in turn the better skills and knowledge they had could then be used to make a richer place to live in?
It seemed like a logical chain to him, but then again the world wasn’t logical, so who knew what sort of madness ran the places that charged to learn. Anyway that was a wandering for another time. Back to the present.
Hm?
Dark colored eyes would look briefly at the hand being offered before looking back up at the other as he slid out of his desk and stood up. He would reach out to give the other a proper handshake, firm yet not crushing. “It is a pleasure to meet you,” he would say before releasing his hand and taking a step back to stand a respectful distance from the other. After a few seconds Haru would slide his hands into his pockets as he heard the question.
“Mmm. I found it an interesting topic to ponder,” he would state with a small smile and then tilting his head, he would jerk his chin lightly at the other. “You seemed pretty comfortable with the topic and teaching. You teach here regularly?”

| "Hm? No. I do not. I am only substitute teaching for the week." He said. "You may leave now if you wish, and you are more than welcome to come to tomorrow's lecture. Tomorrow's lecture is on the history of Germany up to World War II, starting with a recap on Prussia. Will you be in attendance?" He asked Haru. | |

| “Ah I see,” Haru would say with a light nod. A sub, huh? While he didn't attend public school, he had his fair share of encounters with sub tutors and always found them lacking when compared to his original ones. Maybe the school picked better than his parents did in this case. Or maybe they just got lucky and found a teacher that was dedicated to his work and with a sharp eye to boot. There were many possibilities and curiosities. Some to which the young man was curious to explore, but alas it did not seem like these wanderings would be addressed today.
The guy was releasing him now and didn’t seem to want to go any further than what had been already said. Heh. Alright if that is all he wanted, then that was fine. So it was time to go then, yes? Haru would give the other a second nod as his relaxed positioning shifted.
“Alright then. Cya,” he would say and turn to leave; however, he would pause at the door as he looked over his shoulder at the other as he heard the question. “It sounds fascinating, so maybe,” he would say and then giving the other a small smile he would exit the room and head back out into the hallways wondering if he had anymore time to spare before he had to face his workload for the day.
