| Attendant Paige"I am afraid I do not go out very often. Can you tell?"
The Biography
|
Birth Name: Paige Aliases: Homebody, Black Recluse Gender: Female Age: ”…Are you asking a lady her age?” Birth Day: June 13, 1837 Arcana: Priestess Place of Residence: The Velvet Room School Year: N/A Class: N/A After School Club: N/A Part Time Job: N/A
Appearance: Despite her age, Paige's narrow face, lithe figure and dignified features convince others that she is in her early twenties. She is about 5'8" (172.72 cm) and weighs 134 pounds (60.78 kg). Like most Attendants, she has golden eyes and long, silver hair which, although usually disheveled, looks very elegant nonetheless; her bangs are long and when un-styled completely cover her eyes, so she tends to part or comb them back so as to see properly. Paige has three prominent scars on her body: one that runs diagonally across her face from her right cheek, across her left eye, and all the way to her left temple; the second wraps around her neck, reminiscent of a macabre choker; the third encircles her left ring finger. Except for the one on her face, all of these scars are normally hidden by her clothes or jewelry. Other smaller, less noticeable scars riddle her body, mainly across her torso, but are present on her hands as well. Her nails are also extremely long (about 1.5 inches [3.15 cm]), always painted black, and perfectly manicured.
Almost everything Paige wears is handmade, all the way from her earrings to her clothes; only her shoes have not been made from scratch, but she has heavily modified them with straps, buckles, zippers, ribbon and the like. On normal days, she wears an ankle-length, high-collared black dress with sleeves that cover her hands, a top hat, black heeled boots, and a gray sash tied across her chest. She also wears two chains of lockets, one slung across her chest and the other around her hips, with each locket containing a picture of a past guest; a menagerie of earrings in both ears; and silver rings on her fingers. On special occasions she dons one of many intricate gothic dresses she's designed and created over the years along with a wide array of equally impressive accessories. Whenever it is required that she venture into the outside world, however, Paige adopts a much more modest style; usually she wears a white button-up shirt, black pants, her normal earrings and boots, and her lockets around her waist like a belt.
Personality: On the surface, Paige is the epitome of a lady. She never uses contractions and enunciates each word clearly so as to be properly understood. Her movements are graceful and elegant just like her speech. Even her patience and perseverance are quite remarkable; no matter how difficult or awful the person she's talking to is, she can hold her temper and continue on a conversation/lesson/etc. without trouble. Underneath her sophisticated veneer, however, lies a mischievous streak. It's not uncommon for her to repeatedly poke fun of or tease people she grows fond of; to her, she's not being rude, she's merely being curious (and trying to see all the funny faces her target can make). She also has no qualms about standing up for herself or others, regardless if it's in a social setting or in a battle, and is fiercely protective of her siblings and guests. Paige is a stickler for manners and will not hesitate to correct anyone she feels is being disrespectful, doing so forcibly if she must (such as dumping someone out of a chair they are sitting in incorrectly before making them sit properly, all the while glaring until they've done so). She's also quite the romantic and falls in and out of love quite easily, much to her siblings' amusement.
One of Paige's most fantastic skills is her memory. Called "super autobiographical memory", Paige can recall in exact detail any and everything she's ever experienced. This has made her rather confident in herself and her knowledge. However, with every gift comes a drawback: in Paige's case, she suffers from hyperthemesia. Hyperthemesia causes memories to pop up on their own in a sort of flashback, making it hard for the afflicted to focus on what they are doing at the time. Occasionally Paige will slip into a sort of trance-like state, completely unaware of her surroundings as she relives memories. These spells last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes, during which Paige is completely unresponsive.
Because Paige suffers from agoraphobia, going outside of the Velvet Room is enough to shatter this Attendant. Unless she is being spoken to, she is deathly quiet. On the chance someone strikes up a conversation with her in this state, they will only receive blunt, succinct replies. Even the smallest things can cause her to jump and panic, such as seeing something in her peripheral vision move, hearing an unexpected sound, or someone brushing up against her. Generally she avoids contact with any and everything, even people she's with, just in case something goes awry. Upon arriving back at the Velvet Room, she'll usually apologize profusely for her behavior and, if she was out with a guest, plead for their understanding or, if she trusts them enough, help with overcoming her phobia.

The Potential

Strengths
—Strength Name: Patience is a Virtue —Description: A lady is supposed to be able to handle any situation with grace and poise. Paige has taken that motto to heart and cannot get annoyed very easily, regardless of someone's taunts, threats, or actions. Because of this, rage status ailments have a 10% chance of not working on her (i.e. if the chances of inflicting this ailment are 40%, the calculations for Paige will be for 30%).
—Strength Name: Super Autobiographical Memory —Description: Starting from the day of her creation and going to present day, Paige can recall and describe in perfect detail everything she's seen, touched, done, heard, smelled, or otherwise experienced.
—Strength Name: Crafty —Description: While the Velvet Room is ultimately the safest place she can think of, it still gets very boring. Paige requested that one of siblings find something to amuse her with, and they returned with a basket of crafting supplies. It only took a short while for her to get hooked on making anything she could think of, from clothes, to jewelry, to decorations, and she's gotten amazingly good at crafting all of them and more.
—Strength Name: Confidant —Description: Paige respects people's privacy. She is an excellent person to talk to if you need to get something off of your chest, as it's guaranteed that regardless of the circumstances, Paige will never repeat what was told to her unless she has been given permission to do so by the person who divulged the information.
Weaknesses:
—Weakness Name: Agoraphobia —Description: A long time ago, Paige was allowed to leave the Velvet Room and explore the world outside for a short time in order to better understand the guests she would tend to in the future. The little trip ended in disaster. Paige managed to get into an accident which resulted in the scars she carries today. Because of this, the attendant has developed a fear of leaving the safety of the Velvet Room and will only venture into the outside world if she is asked to by Igor, Philemon, or a guest who has at least a rank 4 social link with her. Guests can only take her into supernatural worlds/dimensions/etc. if their rank is 6 or higher with Paige.
—Weakness Name: "Oh dear, did I push the big blue button?" —Description: "The outside world is a terrifying place, but the people in it are so much fun!" While she loves poking at people who enter the Velvet Room, sometimes she goes a bit too far. Even if someone appears to be angry, Paige will usually keep teasing them just to see their reaction. She thinks it's amusing, but others normally don't.
—Weakness Name: Lost in the Past / Hyperthymesia —Description: Hyperthymesia is a condition that develops as a result of having a very detailed autobiographical memory. Rather than a person consciously try and recall a past event, memories will pop up on their own in a sort of flashback, making it hard for the person to focus on what they are doing at the moment. Paige's condition is less severe than most, but from time to time she'll get lost in her thoughts and become unresponsive, prompting some very awkward or worrying moments for her siblings and guests. Besides waiting for the memory to pass, it is possible to snap her out of it by creating loud noise (such as a shrill scream or a crash), throwing water in her face, hitting her roughly, or any other action that would be a shock to her senses and bring her back to reality. During the first phase of combat, there is a 20% chance she will be unable to act due to this condition.
—Weakness Name: Manners are a Must! —Description: While Paige has modified her speech and ideals to fit in with modern times, some of her social mannerisms are still stuck in the Victorian era. The most noticeable case of this is the fact that anything that would be considered a "breach" of etiquette back then is highly frowned upon by Paige, and she will not hesitate to correct anyone--be they another Attendant or even a guest--about their "intolerable behavior".
Soul Bound Weapon
Weapon Name: Necronomnomnomicon; also known as the Book of the Dead or Book of the Black Earth. Paige just calls it Norman for short. Weapon Description: A brown book with rusted copper accents and a worn copper lock. On the front appears to be the large gaping mouth of a creature filled with sharp teeth.

The Background
|
History: Paige was created not long after the start of the Victorian era. As such, she began learning about the outside world and its customs during this time, many of which she still follows to this day. While not the best, Paige was very apt at her duties and quickly earned herself a few guests which she was delighted to assist. Impressed by how far she'd come and wishing for her to grow and become even better, Igor allowed the Attendant to visit the outside world for the first time. Paige accepted the offer and ventured out on her own, eager to learn the ways of world first-hand and not from a book or the little her guests told her.
While she crossing the street with a few others during her outing, a horse was spooked, causing it to run off with its carriage still hitched to it. It didn't take long for the animal to collide with the pedestrians, causing one fatality and others to be seriously injured. Paige was one of those victims fortunate enough to survive, but after receiving medical attention, she ran straight for the Velvet Room, thoroughly shaken and terrified by what had happened. For many years afterwards, Paige refused to set one foot outside of the Velvet Room. Guests who tried to coax her outside would have their bribes and kind words bluntly refused. Siblings who attempt to force her to leave her home would be met with rather unladylike cursing, thrashing, and--on some occasions--a compendium to the head. Eventually Igor took Paige's compendium away, seeing as she wasn't fit to serve guests to the best of her ability and her outbursts were, shall we say, rather disruptive. Rather, she was given the task of assisting her siblings with their duties but unable to take on any guests of her own. Paige was crushed by this and worked to get over her fear to some degree, so as to resume her old position. While she's made some progress, it seems that Paige hasn't done enough to be reinstated as a full-fledged Attendant, as her Compendium is still with Igor.
