Acotali's Emerald City [Testing the Dungeon Changes - Deshitana, Puck, Safi]

“Well true, but at least it is down,” Aria would say before moving over to explore the now still golem and the area around it. As she was exploring, she heard the exchange between their leader and Noah; however, she did not add onto it as she simply smirked slightly at the sarcasm. It was amusing for sure, but for the moment not enough to draw her attention away from exploring a bit. She would continue to explore for a few moments before with a pout she would move around the golem and head back to the path with Alexis trailing at her side.

“Well that is no good,” she muttered disappointed she couldn’t find any treasures to take with her. She guessed this one only had the looks of something important, but that was it. How sad.

Her red eyes would linger on the golem for a second longer before they drifted back to the front where she found Noah had actually waited for her. Seeing that they guy had waited, she gave him a pleased grin.

“Well, well now. You really do know how to treat a lady. Cute,” she said with a light chuckle as she fell in step with the other. She was clearly playing, but honestly waiting for her did win the other some points in her book. Even if the guy didn’t care, the fact he stuck close was a good sign in her book that maybe one day they really could chill and be friends, but for now she was content with being allies. Did this mean she thought in less of Jason? No. She respected the guy for staying focused in the situation among other things, but facts were facts.

She had the tendency to stick with those that stuck with her rather than those that pushed on or ignored her. So as far as favorites went Noah was winning the points this round. In any case, she would continue to walk along with Noah, only pausing when she finally saw the demon that she could sense earlier.

As the large wolf came into view, crimson eyes would narrow in disapproval as she saw the remains of shackles. So the creature had been a prisoner? Now what jackass had gone and done such a disrespectful thing to a fellow demon? Unpainted lips would curl into a frown as she pondered this, her arms crossing as she watched the creature approach.

Naturally, it seemed that their leader moved to meet the creature and from there a conversation occurred and then a deal was made. While she didn’t hear the words, she did take note that their leader had gained something and the wolf was now on their side. Well bravo to Jason for that. Guess he was full of surprises after all.

In any case, with the wolf leading the way, the woman would hear the concerns voiced their support and frown.

“You don’t trust demons, sweetheart?” she would ask the support with a hint of sarcasm that suggested that maybe what was said had offended her. After all didn’t the girl know? Aria was a demon. So did that fact make her untrustworthy too? Or was it because she appeared human that the girl trusted her over the more furry demon?

In any case, what came of that would be left to be seen as the offense was quickly put on the back burner as a battle came into view. While Jason used some form of mask before going into battle and taking his position, Aria would move to her own position before leaning forward in a battle position as Alexis’s fur stood on in as it quietly bared fangs at the new threat.

'‘Sure do.‘‘ Even though Noah’s main intention in this case hasn’t really been to be courteous. He was just mildly interested in seeing whether Aria would find something. And he did sort of prefer her company to Jason anyway. Two flies with one shot. But hey, she seemed to like that. So perhaps three instead of two. Even though he really had no idea whether any of them would meet up again after this little raid. Maybe, maybe not. Aria seemed to be the player type herself, so maybe the whole banter about having a vacation later and whatnot would fall through as a joke in the end. Ah well.

Detour off the main course aside, it would appear that they had a demon to deal with too. Surprisingly, this one was mellow enough, seeing as he got convinced to be of assistance by Jason fairly quickly. Well then. As long as the wolf wouldn’t turn on them and cause unnecessary havoc, Noah was fine with that. A demon pet sounded like a fun thing. But there was no guarantee that they would obey you at all costs. Just like some other animals, which couldn’t care less about some human bossing them around. Not that he himself was human, but he hasn’t take the time to test how it worked between Demons and Shadows just yet. Perhaps a project for later, when he wasn’t stuck somewhere. There was no time for experiments right now, as tempting as the idea sounded.

Regardless, the wolf demon was no issue, as long as it remained on their side. He had no idea what Jason offered him in the first place, but he’d go along with the flow for now. He would just chuckle at the whole debate about concerns. Was it any different? It was either have the demon help you, or destroy the demon on the spot so it doesn’t get in the way. If it betrays you, it’s a fight too. What makes the difference? At best, it could be letting your guard down, but he would like to hope no one here was stupid enough to get too lax around a demon that could easily change its mind in case something happens. You never really know what is on their minds.

Speaking of something happening, another enemy was in the way. Nice. Time for more action. The walking was getting boring already. And he didn’t get to even entertain himself much, since Aria was quiet the majority of the time, on Jason spoke only about the demon, and about their job. Too boring for a conversation. ‘’Good. I was starting to get bored here.’’

Movement:

"Oh, no. It's not that I don't trust demons, Aria. Not at all, it's more... that Fenrir is... well... used to work for Acotali..." She had her reasons for being skeptical about all this. Acotali was their main goal, all things considered, and anyone associated with her she saw as a threat. But what could you do. "Just... be careful, alright?"

"Hrm... There's a group of shadows ahead. Let's take them out while we have the chance. Don't let me down, boy."

“Oho. So you don’t like to gamble, then? I see,” Aria would respond playfully to the girl as she responded back to her question regarding demons. Alright. She could see the girl’s point in being leery given this one worked for the one they hunted, but at the same time Aria was not one to hold her dice so tightly. Sure, she was aware of the dangers, but seriously where was the fun of being worried all the time? She took note of Noah’s chuckling and while she looked him up and down with a raised eyebrow, she didn’t question what he found so amusing for now. Maybe if they ever met again, she could figure him out then. But what were the chances of that meeting with the way Fate liked to play with her?

The demon would push that train of thoughts out of her head for now. She could worry about her curse of being single when she wasn’t on a mission. For now, she needed to focus.

“Of course, hun. We got this covered,” she would respond back confidently enough before she eyed the enemies that had come. A plant and two odd ones. Alright. Before she left to take her battle position, she would give Noah a light pout as she looked over at him.

“Aww am I not entertaining enough for you?” she would tease the other for a bit before entering the battle. Once in battle, the demon and their leader seemed to chat amongst each other, so for now the girl would not interfere with that event as crimson eyes watched as the pair unleashed an attack and after getting a nice shot on the plant the pair went at them again. Nice. Very nice. Since the boss had the plant taken care of her eyes would focus on a different enemy. Moving as one with Alexis the demon would move in to strike the enemy.

''You weren't talking much during the walk, miss.'', he would retort towards Aria, sticking his tongue at her briefly before turning towards the new enemies. He took note of Jason using the demon for fighting, but shrug it off for now. Hopefully, it would be useful? Well then, time to play. This time around, he would turn into a different form, resembling half-human, half-dragon, sporting a tail and wings, just like a sort of hybrid. These things were going to get it...

"Well, that actually went better than I thought," Jason would remark as the enemies were quickly dispatched, "Looks like we could actually work together pretty well. What do you think, Fenrir?"

Having this demon on their side was definitely a boon to their task. Having extra hands on the deck was always appreciated. However, this went through very easily. Perhaps facing this Acotali was not going to be as difficult as once thought. Not that Jason thought that they could fail. Why would he? Or the comrades following him? They were specifically chosen for this task or otherwise they would not have chosen them if they believed they were not up for the job.

Jason dismissed the Mask back into his consciousness. There was more traveling to do, but this was likely to be the last stretch of the journey. It should not even take so long anyway and soon they would be done with this. There were books to be read and a sword to maintain. Asuramaru needed her weekly oil treatment.

"We're almost there. Any of you guys holding up alright? Now's the time to say something if you need anything."

As he said this, Jason used his Shadow Weapon to heal his comrades one last time as the green glow of his weapon anointed them with a healing light. This was going to be the last time he would heal them before meeting up with the target. And hopefully they will get out of this place in one piece.

"There's something in the way. Hold up."

It looked like a locked door of sorts. Jason was already working on the lock after bringing out his own piece of equipment neatly stored inside a leather pouch. It took a while, but after fidgeting his tools through the keyhole, a rewarding click can be heard. He opened the door and nodded.

"You would think there would be better security than just this and a few guards, y'know?"

It was a bit disappointing. Everything didn't seem to be that much of a challenge when he looked back at it all. Though Asuramaru seemed to enjoy herself with all the destruction and carnage. He unsheathed the weapon once more. Through this doorway, they were very close to reaching the end. Jason could feel it. And soon they can just leave this place and Fenrir. The end was coming.

“Oho, so I have to take the lead in these situations?” Aria would tease the other back before focusing on the battle at hand. She took note of the new form the other took and wonder briefly in the back of her mind what other forms he could turn into. As curious as she was about that, she would push the wandering thoughts away for now as she instead focused on the creatures before her. Creatures that died all too quickly.

“That…was it?” she would say out loud as she blinked at the spot that the enemy once rested. While it was true the battles hadn’t been too hard here, she was disappointed that she wasn’t even hit this time around. A lucky break? Maybe, but she did not like the ease of the battle. It just didn’t feel right.

Relaxing, she would pick up Alexis in her arms before standing up once again and observing the conversation that their leader seemed to have with the demon with him. Huh? Seemed he was quite taken with that creature. Not bad in her book, but something still felt off about the situation.

That demon had made it all too easy for them to handle those creatures and while on a normal day this would be no problem. The more she sat and thought about it, the more she wondered if their support may have been right. Maybe there was reason to fear the demon on their side. Who knew what it might do once it was before its former master. There was a chance of a betrayal in the making….

Hmm. While she was enjoying the game at first she had to wonder: where they dealt cards that were in favor of the one dealing them?

“Hmph,” She would let the sound out as she moved over to Noah’s side. “I am fine. Though I wonder if handsome here needs a kiss for the little boo-boos he may have gained,” the demon would say the words all play more than anything, but a sign that she was okay; however, her play would turn a bit more serious though as she addressed their leader directly.

“How about you? You alright? And the demon? You cool?” she would ask, inquiring on the mental and physical state of the other. Demons could do strange things to humans sometime. She didn’t want this one taking over or something. As she spoke, she felt the healing wave wash over her, giving her back her energy. She loved that spell.

In any case, when the group moved she would walk along side Noah pausing when they came across the door. As their leader worked, she would look at it with a frown a frown that only deepened when she heard their leader's next words.

“Yeah about that. I wonder if this was all just one big trap. Maybe it was so easy ‘cause our target was expecting us….” she would say as she continued to hold Alexis. She would pause for a bit and then grin. “However, if that is the case than this next fight better be one to pushme to the edge. I’d hate to give credit for a nice welcoming to a push over. That would just make me so sad,” she would say before falling silent once more.

Once the door was open, Aria would look over at Noah and gave him a light nod before moving forward to enter the next area with their boss.

Noah would just shrug lightly. Had this been a different situation, he would have probably done something. Alas, not when they were in the middle of getting this done and over with as soon as possible. ‘’If that is what you want.’’ He wasn’t going to stop her, most likely. Regardless, he would focus on the battle for a while, somewhat disappointed at how fast it ended. And there he thought he’d get a break from the boring walks they had to go through. Guess not. The fights tended to end before they had the chance of getting remotely entertaining, although he wouldn’t complain too much. At least it meant he needn’t expend way too much energy on random enemies in his way.

‘’Better than us dying.’’ Perhaps it was a bit too easy, but he’d rather that than them getting into serious trouble before reaching the goal of this place. Noah wasn’t going to overanalyze the situation, because there was no proof for anything. Did the enemies falling so fast mean anything? Who knew. Getting all bothered wouldn’t change anything, and thus he would simply go with the flow for now. If something happened, he’d devise a way to deal it then. Much more productive than trying to be a smartass right now. He would roll his eyes jokingly at Aria’s response to the question from Jason.

He would hum nonchalantly. ‘’Would you kiss a dragon?’’, he’d poke at her. She started it anyway. He wouldn’t answer beyond that, but since he gave no indication he was hurt, it should be obvious he was fine enough at the moment. Honestly, he just wanted to either be done with this, or have it be more entertaining than prolonged walks, and enemies that died way too fast to provide enough enjoyment. He couldn’t even play around much, since this was a job that needed to get done first of all, and he wasn’t foolish enough to risk making it harder out of boredom.

Watching as the guy opened the door, he would whistle faintly. ‘’The faster they fall, the faster we’ll be done and can go do something more entertaining. I guess they aren’t trying very hard if the guard is this easy to take down.’’ Was the one behind this that confident? Or perhaps it was that the creatures hanging around were getting lousy with their powers. Either way, it was what it was.

The door unlocked without a hitch, and slowly opened, revealing a broken down staircase, leading down to what used to be the basement of some building that used to stand here... The air here's incredibly humid, and it seemed that whatever was living in here had made some space for themselves, for the basement had turned into more of a grove than anything else. The cieling had been broken by roots and trees of various shapes and sizes. The chamber itself was about 20 meters wide, and 30 meters long... And in the middle of it all, a large, grey, serpentine creature rested, with roots seemingly growing out of it's own body, reaching deep into the ground below... This was Acotali... The Earth Mother. A Demon that had caused all this overgrowth on the city, and nurtured the shadows and demons living within. "Well, there she is..." Fenrir growled deeply, narrowing it's eyes at the creature still in what appeared to be a deep slumber... "She probably knows we're here already..." And indeed, the Demon's instincts were right. A large, yellow eye opened up, staring at Jason and his comrades, as large, thick roots covered the entrance with incredible speed as the large creature rose, towering above the trio, leaving them staring up as her massive shadow covered them... Crunch time... this was it.

"Well, here she comes! Be brave! Fight hard!"
