Last Warning

For as far as the eye could see, the fields beyond the colony seemed calm and harmless. A nice breeze blew across it, carrying the scent of the plant life beyond. The scene was beautiful and yet despite all that beauty, the young guard that had been chosen for look out held an air of uneasiness about him as his he watched the fields.

He knew from talk that there was word of some creature lurking about nearby. A large one to be precise…and yet no matter how many times, they had looked said creature didn’t seem to be around. He didn’t think the people were lying, their was fear completely real and yet he nor other watch guards had seen what they spoke of. So what was the deal with high security? Did the panic really cause this? Or was there proof of the beast. The young man sighed as he leaned against his spear with a pout on his face. Man why was he always the one to --?

A shadow, large and black, silently appeared before him causing the guard to at first give a disinterested stare until he found himself face-to-face with a pair of eerie purple eyes. Freezing in his spot as he stared at the face impossibly large, for two seconds the young man didn’t know what to do. He had never seen a monster like this before let alone hear of them getting that close to the barrier…

“N-NAHHH!!!” the man let out a scream, dropped his weapon and abandoned post leaving the creature simply watching the path he took.

Meanwhile below, the solider who had been asked a question by his superior was finding himself in a rather embarrassing spot.

“U-uh,” the solider stammered as he was commanded to give a report by the captain, but simply couldn’t. He stumbled and stumbled until finally the hurried footsteps and a rather rude interruption from behind him caused him to become silent.

Peeved he turned his eyes to the one who was causing the racket.

“Koroku? What is the meaning of this?” he would demand as the blonde clattered to the ground out of breathe and clearly shaken by something.

“M-M-M…thing..Outside…now…bad…” was all the other could mumble out as he pointed a shakey finger in the direction he had come.

There was no need for second commands. Getting the kid up off the ground, the two guards would leave as commanded leaving the captain to it.

Meanwhile back in the field, the beast had lost interest in the wall and took to simply moving at a slow pace around the perimeter of the colony pausing here and there to peer at the small creatures it could not reach with curious eyes. Hunting instincts were raising higher as it saw the movement and smelt the fear that lingered since it had made itself known. It loved that smell. It meant the prey would run and boy did it love a good chase. If only it could get at the little ones fleeing and taste their flesh. It wanted them, but could not have them. How disappointing.

So imagine its surprise when one of those little creature actually approached it wearing a cape and smirk on its face.

While it was uncertain if the creature understood the expression, the creature’s eyes immediately snapped to the figure as a strange form of grin smeared itself across its strange face. White fangs were revealed as the creature raised a large hoofed foot and attempted to crush the little ant underneath for daring to be so bold.

Hellios is on the attack!

The little one managed to catch the hoof and even send an attack at the creature. With no time to react to the on coming attack, the creature would take the heavy blow, stumbling back from the impact. Digging its hoofs into the ground to regain balance, the creature would lash its tail as it growl at the girl and locked its eyes on her once more.

The little one was strong, but how strong it wondered. It would growl lowly before tilting its head back and then tossing it forward as it lowered its head towards the ground and opened its mouth. From its mouth came a strange blue cloud that began to eat the earth as it attempted to ensnare the girl that had dared to challenge it.

Speed. The girl had that it was true, but the creature before her would prove itself much smarter than most would assume. As she made her move and attempted to attack, the creature would do one thing as its massive legs bent. It leaped forward and away from the girl’s attack landing with a heavy thud and crash on the ground safely away from the combo that the girl had tried to use. As it moved, sand would form in it right clawed hand shifting into a large club of earth. As the club formed, the creature would shift its weight and swing the heavy club at the girl in a heavy downward diagonal that started from the upper left before coming downward towards the right before finally slamming into the ground with heavy crash. The impact alone blowing away the remains of the previous attack. The blow was aimed at the girl’s chest aiming to crush it in.

Even if she had managed to somehow avoid the on coming attack that stretched out about 10 feet and then had an extra three feet thanks to the club, she would have another problem coming from below. As the club shattered upon the ground, it would become a 10 ft wide sand pit that shot up spikes to impale her with. She may have been fast, but the creature was in no way playing when it came to destroying the girl.

Creatures were a strange bunch. The duller bunch never learned and always seemed to fall for the same trick over and over again; however, for a creature such as this the rules were not the same. It saw the girl vanish once more sensing her presence underneath its arm. Its glowing eyes would grow dim as it saw the girl take to the sky, but instead of waiting for her to come back down. It would take a deep breath before releasing it upward at the girl. What came with from that maw this time was were thick earthy spikes designed to harm the girl on her way down, but also to mess up her attack. Since she was aiming straight down to crash into the earth with the force she did would mean hopefully taking some blows from the spikes that were spread out in a 10 ft arc to trap the speedy girl.

The creature had the girl and it knew it. It's prey was as good as an appetizer now; however, as the creature went to move forward, an unexpected power surged from beneath it. Letting out a strange grunt of shock, the creature raised its arms to defend against the large attack, but the power behind the attack was too powerful. The power engulfed and ate away at it until the creature and its strange screams were gone from the field, leaving only the remains of dead grass and groves from its hooves and earth attacks left in the area. For now the colony was safe....But one had to wonder how long that would last.
