Peaceful Times

A nice calm silence echoed through the streets of Erisia. The normally bustling Colony had now calmed down for a few days to undergo their usual celebration. Stores that would normally be opened had closed their doors until the end of the week, and even the Military had taken this time off for the entertainment.

But not the whole settlement was calm, oh no, many volunteers gathered at the central plaza, a project that had been ongoing for days on end now, nearly about to finish. It was lunch time, around noon, the Sun hung high in the sky to the North, making the continuously flowing water of a fountain nearby to glisten even more beautifully while a large structure behind it cast a large shadow in the other direction.

Yes, indeed, it seemed that for today, everything was calm, the only noise heard being that of a few groups of people who strolled by, admiring this new attraction so many workers had worked together to erect. Some were worried about its safety, others were more concerned over how fun it was to ride, while others still wished to find out what the view looked like from the top.

"Well, obviously, it feels like you're on top of the world!" To those, a strange yet seemingly androgynous voice shouted in excitement, followed by a slightly calmer one, in softer tones, that nonetheless was cheerful.

"Yeah, yeah, you should totally try this out!"

"Don't forget to grab your tickets, everyone!"

"Get them now and pay less for entry! The show itself is free, but a ride is 10 VC!"

The mascots still ran around, hoisting each a small basket filled with tickets to the Ferris Wheel, and really, it wasn't hard to say most people bought one. They all wanted a turn seeing what it was like.

But what about you?

No matter whether you were a scientist or a soldier, even a farmer or an aspiring youth. Young or old, you knew what day tomorrow was, but how did that make you feel? The Maidens, both of them, were turning twenty years old just the next day from now, it was a big event, but surely one that has been ongoing for years on end. How does it make you feel, inside?

On the edge of your vision, you see a butterfly, fluttering its wings quickly as it floats near you. Had you tried to take even a short glance, you could see... the butterfly had vanished in a puff of wind, yourself being unable to catch even its color, but presumably it was just floating around in the flowers outside. The day was still early, and perhaps it was time to start. What will you do now?
