Rita's phone bleeped silently on top of her desk, low enough not to be heard. It didn't take long for a voice message to pull through as well, ringing out in a still low sound, whenever it did. It was unknown when exactly this happened, but apparently, Rita wasn't home to pick up this call.
"Hey, Rita..."
"I saw that light shooting up in Standasen... that means you did it, right? My heart feels a lot lighter now, I dunno how to thank you guys for your efforts. Oh yeah, did I tell you? I'm expanding the restaurant! I'm moving to Japan with my parents around the month's end to open up a spot in Akihabara. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be able to keep Paradise open but hey... we had a lot of fun there, didn't we?"
The beeping sound cut it off there, but another one soon followed, with another recorded message.
"You told me you were leaving with the Biggest Top, right? Well... I hope Mister Adair lets you do it! You've got good people there to take care of you, right? I hope you'll be happy... but we can still talk over the internet! It's such an amazing invention, isn't it? Hey, um, I hope I can go see you... before I go, I mean."
Another beeping sound, and then a long pause, before another message came in.
"I... was never too involved in this, but Rita, I can tell that you've grown. When I met you, I wondered how well you'd fit in, in these islands. It honestly scared me to think that you'd push people away, the way you were... but it all turned out well. You told me so many stories about Lia. You're dating now, right? Kinda? Haha, I'm really happy for you two. Maybe she's the reason you got this way... I always did admire how strong you ended up becoming."
This time, after the beep, another long pause took place, followed by a single beep. On the phone screen was displayed a picture, a simple drawing with a nice short message at the bottom.
"A picture I drew for you, so you never forget me! I'll see you later, Rinya-dono~!"
With this message in, the phone went silent, shutting itself off from lack of power. It was a final stretch for it, almost, as Rita would not see the messages until she charged it and turned it on again... and who knows when that might be? The Wheel of Fortune can give strange outcomes... a person without the potential was even affected, despite being in the background for most of the event. Kristina wouldn't forget her best friend.
