| ~The World of Erisia Dysnomia~ ................................................................................................................... An enormous tower, sprouting from the sky and bordering on the planet's atmosphere, its origin unknown. Below it, only a large sea of clouds is seen, and not even the most ancient beings in this world know how old the tower of Erisia Dysnomia is. The world houses many settlements and functions, with artifacts from ages past and ferocious creatures that threaten humanity's life.
The people's only solace is found within colonies covered by magic barriers, built from machines used to harvest the power of Mana in the environment. Only very few people can wield this power on their own, but thanks to their cooperation, now every human alive can have a safe life under the protection of the Maidens.
Nonetheless, in this world, people are not satisfied with staying within their closed-off space and as such, adventurers are sent off to explore the wilderness around their colony and discover the secrets of the tower, armed with weapons that can fight back the beasts, and perhaps a power no-one expected would resurface...
In Erisia Dysnomia, magic is treated as a science and a resource, investigated by the Maidens' government in order to use for the benefit of humanity in general. Only the Maidens are known to be capable of controlling magic without a tool, but they too lend their abilities to the advancement of science and the creation of machinery that is able to replicate said powers. The source of the Maidens' power is unknown, as they do not perform it publicly, but it is said their lineage has granted them an ability no-one currently alive has seen before, inert for ages.
It is thanks to the Maidens, though, that humanity can currently live in peace, as despite their young age, their lineage's efforts have created two safe havens on the middle of the tower, and who knows how many more, as many scientists and adventurers have ventured further upwards with this technology, albeit never looked back, only pressing forward. It's within these safe havens that the story begins, with only a few thousand humans currently known to live on the surface of the tower...................................................................................................................... Colony of Eirini, Home to the Maiden of Eris ................................................................................................................... One of the twin settlements governed by the Maidens, and the lowest colony in the tower. It is characterized by an open environment filled with laid-back people that dedicate themselves to social interactions and helping others. As it is the home to the Maiden of Eris, it dedicates itself to agriculture and scientific advancement, since the ruler promotes peace and kindness to all of humanity. It still holds an army department, but it is much less extensive than its counterpart colony's. Because of its focus on safety and preservation of lifestyle, Eirini doesn't focus as much on education, though neither of the colonies do, which makes public schools basically nonexistent. In both colonies, though, there exist courses for those intending to be a scientist or a soldier, as well as public resources for self-teaching, like public libraries filled with a record of most books written, or known of. The largest one of these libraries is strangely located in Eirini.................................................................................................................... Colony of Parangelia, Home to the Maiden of Harmonia ................................................................................................................... The other settlement run by the Maidens, standing a smidgen above Eirini on the tower's map. It is characterized by methodical and professional people that seem to completely dedicate themselves to furthering humanity's prosperity instead of their own lives, neglecting socialization in favor of moving forward. Home to the Maiden of Harmonia, the colony dedicates itself mostly to scientific advancement and combat preparations, being the main source of the army used to explore the higher reaches of Erisia. The Maiden herself promotes the advancement of humanity through safety and dedication, forgoing kindness in favor of progress. As such, the colony itself holds a much more limited supply of food items, though it is enough to feed its inhabitants, as it is also the smallest of the two colonies. Due to its nature as a more advanced settlement, the Maiden resident is currently also pushing forward a broader education plan to be implemented, albeit it's a recent move and not final in the slightest. | |
