Attendant Alexander
”It is your lucky day, my Dearest Sister and I are able to help.”
The Biography
Birth Name: Alexander Aliases: The Doll man, The Cardmaster, The Suave, Luck Incarnate, Attendant Luck Gender: Male Age: 87 Birth Day: November 14, 1928 Arcana: Wheel of Fortune Place of Residence: The Velvet Room School Year: Class: (We'll fill this in once you're approved. This will be your class in school)
After School Club:
Part Time Job: N/A
Appearance: Alexander stands at an even 5’8 and weighs around 140 pounds. The young man like many of his siblings has the traditional silver hair and golden eyes, and a similar fashion sense. His silver hair often covers his left eye, many poker players think that it is intentionally styled that way. However, when questioned about it at a card game, he moved it so everyone could see his full face. He is confident in his skills with cards that he will not use anything that could be used to hide any of his "tells". Alexander has a lean build, it is clear he does enough to keep in shape, but not much more than that, as he has not developed any muscle mass.
The young man always seems to be dressed as formally as his peers. He is always seen in either a dress shirt, formal vest, or he goes an extra mile to wear a tie of some sort with a jacket or tux. All of which were made either for him or by him, as he quite talented with a thread and needle. However, despite his change in outfits there is one thing that will always remain the same. On his left shoulder sits a doll that is held to his shoulder through magic. It has blonde hair, a cream skin tone, golden eyes, and wears a white dress. Alexander calls this doll, “Dearest Sister”, and is evidently quite attached to it. Some have stated that this doll seems to move when people aren’t looking at it. It stares at them with soulless eyes void of intelligence…or…is it sentient?
Personality: Alexander is a very confident individual, he knows his own limitations and abilities quite well. He is not afraid of voicing his own opinion in a group, and doesn’t mind being in the minority either. He believes that his wisdom is valuable and ought to be taken as constructive criticism. Alexander also tends to have a happy go lucky personality, it seems really hard to confuse him, because he knows his own limitations. That being said, he seems to have a specific fear, and that is a fear of commitment. This can be seen in his womanizing ways. Every girl that catches his interest he showers them in witty compliments about their beauty or charming personality. To many observers he seems to move from woman to woman like a college student flips through the pages of a boring literature book. That being said, he does try to have a stable relationship, but he finds it difficult with those of the opposite sex. Is it the fate of velvet attendants to be alone, knowing only the compansionship of their siblings?
However, regardless of their gender, Alexander is always a polite individual. He is always able and willing to help, or offer advice. He attempts to avoid foul or vulgar language, unless other company have dipped into such language. Even then he is quite hesitant to partake in such vulgar language. Alexander also has another skill that he puts to use, he is quite observant and is able to read people extremely well. Normally, at some point during his first meeting with an individual, he is able to get a general read of their personality. This stems from his interest in card games, where this skill is exceptionally handy, as he can read other players like an open book. He can tell when they’re bluffing, and when they are trying to establish fake tells. He has developed this skill to such a point that he is able to hide his own tells, and may do so if he feels someone is pressing too deep when he isn’t ready to speak to them about private matters.
Furthermore, as a strange eccentricity, he relates to people and things in different ways. He will always call guests of the Velvet Room either their name or, “Dear Guest”. His fellow attendants are always called, “Dear sister” or “Dear brother”. However, the doll on his shoulder is always called, “Dearest Sister.” The reasons for this, has not been made clear. Furthermore, when trying to understanding concepts or ideas or simply because he notes a relation he will often use tactics or terms from various card games.
The Potential
Strengths: (Anything your character is skilled in, such as Martial Arts/ Drawing/ etc? You are allowed a maximum of five strengths and a minimum of three.)
—Strength Name: The Silver Tongue —Description: “Gift of the silver tongue. They say it's the mark of a good officer... and of a liar!” -Revolver Ocelot
Alexander truly does have a silver tongue, when he speaks, people listen, not because he has authority, but rather because he is so persuasive. The way words roll off his tongue, wooing women with flirtatious comments and clever allusions to their beauty. His words offer men promises of riches, fame and women if they sit down and try a hand of cards with him. Women are promised a loyal man, a man who will treat them will, and one who knows their true beauty. Because of this practice and efficiency in persuasion, Alexander's charisma social skill starts at rank 2.
—Strength Name: Sleight of Hands —Description: "It's not gambling if you can't lose..."' -Twisted Fate
Alexander has always had a special talent with cards, and in general sleight of hands. He is able to pick pockets, pick locks, and his talent truly lies in his ability with cards. Give him a deck, a table, and a few poker players, and the odds are unfairly stacked in his favor. While he could always cheat and win every hand, he chooses not to. After all, the point is not to get caught, isn’t it?
—Strength Name: Sewing —Description: “Oh dear sister! Did you get a boo-boo, let me fix that up for you!” -Alexander
The young gambler has another hobby, he can sew! He had to learn when his dearest sister got a boo-boo and needed some new stuffing and a dress. Many years of practice have led him to be able to sew clothing for his siblings of similar size, and various other objects that one can make with enough material.
—Strength Name: People Reader— Description: “You know, it’s a shame that you don’t want to be honest with me. I do hate it when people lie to me.” -Alexander
Despite being secluded within the Velvet Room, Alexander has seen many people with their troubles come and go. Years of people watching have told him to search for tells or ticks that people have that really tell what they’re thinking! Therefore, he can identify tells and read people easier than a person with an untrained eye for the mental and physical ticks that people have. Furthermore, after a few meetings or conversations with an individual he is able to get a very good read on their likes and dislikes, their general personality, as well as how they seem to think.
—Strength Name: The Luckiest Man Alive —Description: “I’ve got Lady Luck on my side!” - Alexander
Alexander has unusual streaks of luck, he picks up a penny and wins the lottery. He gets into trouble, but there happens to be an officer walking around the corner. For whatever reason when he is on a luck streak everything seems to go his way and chance doesn’t abandon him at all. However, whatever goes up...must come down.
Weaknesses: (You must have the same amount of weaknesses as strengths. These weaknesses pertain to you and not your Persona. IE: Physically Weaker, lack of attention span, etc.)
—Weakness Name: Don’t Touch My Dearest Sister! —Description: “Ruffian! Scoundrel! Don’t you dare lay a hand on my beautiful and Dearest Sister without her permission!” –An angry Alexander
Alexander has always been sensitive about the doll on his shoulder, it is always with him and always sits on his shoulder with a smile on her face. One should avoid touching it at all costs, he has a tendency to snap and assault anyone who touches the doll without her express permission. Said permission often comes from Alexander himself, so it is rarely given.
—Weakness Name: Womanizer —Description: “Hey! Baby, come on don’t be like that, I hardly know Maria!” -Alexander
Alexander and his flirtatious behavior often gets him into trouble, often times with other women. He is always playing the field and hardly finds a woman he doesn’t like. For whatever reason, he cannot seem to find a woman that understands his trouble of liking too many women. It’s not an addiction, it’s a duty! He can’t let a single women go without knowing his grace.
—Weakness Name: Cold Streak —Description: “Lady Luck, can be a cruel mistress…but the sweetest when she returns” -Alexander
Unfortunately, while Alexander can be quiet lucky for any amount of time, when that lucky streaks ends he usually has an ice cold streak. Bad luck suddenly strikes him, black cats, broken mirrors, you name it…it happens and it piles on. A warning sign for when it gets really bad is when he is decked out in good luck gear. When he is in this state, some of his siblings comment about how the univerise is balancing itself out.
—Weakness Name: Bad at advancing romantic relationships —Description: “No wait…that’s not what I meant…wait..Charlotte…please..” -Alexander
Alexander for all his charm, his ability to woo and make women blush…is terrible at advancing relationships with someone he has a romantic interest in. The reason is not something that is clear, often times his flirtatious ways stop any relationship cold. Otherwise, he seems to have a fear to be really invested in a woman, for reasons that aren’t exactly clear.
—Weakness Name: Ranged —Description: “Don’t mind me, I’ll just be way over here!” -Alexander
Alexander prefers to be as far away from his opponents as possible, unless they’re a woman in which case he will likely want them seduced and in his arms, this is because he really lacks the close combat firepower that someone with a melee weapon would have. He’s got a book and his cards to throw…what’s he going to do against an axe?
Soul Bound Weapon: (This is the weapon you'll be able to summon to your hand while in combat. This weapon is special for your character specifically and allows you to fight Shadows without the need of using skills. For Velvet Attendants, this is your Persona Compendium.))
Weapon Name: The Gambler’s Hand Weapon Description: The weapon is a large hardback book with a place for various cards, which Alexander pulls out to throw at his enemy from a distance. It has a brown cover with a an intricate symbol hand carved into the middle of the front cover and a spade, heart, club, and diamond carved into the back of the book. Weapon Image: http://creativepro.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/default/files/story_images/20080509SAWG_fg09.jpg Weapon Attack Type: Slash (Because he pulls cards from the compedium and throws them at his foes) Weapon Element: (Leave this blank. Only special weapons obtain an element behind its blows.)
The Background
History: Alexander was a rather odd turn of events, when he was created in the service to the various persona users who would walk through the velvet door. Despite the normal eccentric personality that can be found in most attendants, Alexander’s seemed to be more along the lines of delusional. When he was created, he came along with the doll on his shoulder. The newly born attendant was happy to report that he and his dearest sister were ready and able to be of service to the guests. When asked where his sister was, he pointed toward the doll as if it was quite obvious who he was referring to. All the other Velvet Attendants seemed more like cousins rather than siblings to him, and that impacted some relationships he had with his siblings. In some cases it still does have a negative impact. However, eventually he came to join his fellow siblings in the happy family, but it was clear that his “Dearest Sister” was the person he was the closest to.
One day, one of his siblings brought a deck of cards into the Velvet Room, and they explained the rules of a game that a few of the guests played. It was called “Poker”, and Alexander seemed to be naturally attracted to this game, and as it turns out, he is a natural card player and gambler. His skills and ability to read other’s faces became almost second nature to the young attendant, though his siblings had to admit that it was odd how he consulted the doll on his shoulder for advice, a technique that nearly got him thrown into the looney bin a few times when he was in the human world. In fact, once he could go outside, he would often be found in places where cards were played. He had figured out that he could learn a lot about people as they tried to hide themselves behind their cards or drowning their sorrows. To him, it was a game, and he was trying to get better, and understand what made humans tick. Eventually, he received his compendium and was able to investigate matters and work with guests more closely! What an exciting opportunity that was for him!
However, it was a short lived opportunity. One day a guest decided that they were very curious about why a guy was carrying a doll on his shoulder all the time. More to the point, the guest was curious about how the doll was staying there. So, they let their curiosity get the better of them and touched Alexander’s dearest sister.
There is a famous saying that curiosity killed the cat, and in this case…that almost came true. Alexander froze and simply stared at the guest, his entire body began to shake, and he let out a scream. He pounced on the guest and began to punch and kick him, he screamed about how the guest was a “ruffian and scoundrel! A violent sociopath!” all because he perceived his Dearest Sister as hurt by that simple touch. The consequence of this violent outburst was the suspension of his compendium until a time where it was clear that he was ready and able to fulfill his true purpose and take up his compendium once more.
