The board was shifting. Pieces moving, changing and vanishing in ways that disrupted the flow of balance the spirits had. Today, they were an agitated hive of voices. Some were laughing like maniacs, others cursing, and others crying. The sounds were immense along with the appearance of some of the more hostile spirits around home and shop. Akumu had spent two hours cleaning home out and then another hour cleansing his shop and then just when he thought he could rest for the day the voices came back with a vengeance. So loud they were Akumu could not block them out and was forced to sit with the chaotic beings for yet another hour to sort what they were so upset about.
Some were just being a pain in the butt as usual, but the bulk of the spirits were concerned about things occurring around the school and the island of Malstu. While the group concerned about the school was indeed intriguing, it was the larger group whispering about Malstu that caught the attendant’s attention. He could not get a straight answer out of them as to what they chattered about, but he did understand something perhaps bad had occurred there, so leaving the school to Fate for the moment the attendant would travel through the passage ways of the spirit until he finally found a safe entrance into Malstu.
Once on the island, the attendant automatically found the source of the spirits’ agitation. It was the volcano he had appeared next to. While a bridge still stood there was too much heat to test the structure with weight, so remaining invisible from the normal eye Akumu would float above the bridge as he looked around the empty island. From what he could tell, the volcano here had recently erupted making it safe to assume the ones living here was moved. Akumu supposed this was good as he didn’t have to worry about humans too much, but he wondered, as he floated in his spot, if maybe this silence would last here.
The volcano…it gave off such an odd aura, but why? What had happened here?
Akumu’s eyes narrowed at the now quiet volcano for a few moments until he was distracted by the whispering spirits once more. They were flowing past him to somewhere on the other side of the bridge. Curious, he followed them until he found himself floating above a platform connected on all sides by bridges and at the center of the platform…a rift releasing immense sadness.
What was this?
Akumu cautiously let himself land on the warm platform feeling relieved when it did not break under his weight. Being careful to not upset the heated wood, Akumu moved towards the rift at a cautious rate wondering if what he was about to do was wise or not. He wasn’t looking for a fight, but he had to know what had happened over on the other side. Why was that air of sadness there and was it that sadness that impacted this side too? There was really only way to find out wasn’t there? He had to enter the rift.
- Note:
Akumu is currently on the real side, but will cross over to the other side after a few days. Awakened folk are desired due to the fact they can cross over. If no one joins he will perform the investigation alone.
