”Someone”? Not the question he expected, and for a brief moment he was taken aback by how Casper was so direct with this subject. Was he jesting…? It never occurred to Shunnosuke to develop feelings for anyone in that miserable school. On a second thought…the closest to him there are Hyde and Julian himself. — Definitely not. I’m not extremely close to many people there, save for another friend and Julian here. I’d say we got pretty close back at Wave’s Peak, or is it unilateral? — The way he said it, the way he smiled at his answer could leave little to Julian’s friend’s imagination. Some tiny seconds, however, after the preppy teenager digested the duo’s reaction, he continued:— I’m playing, of course. But…hm… I can’t say I changed my mind fully. — His posture now was more thoughtful and reflexive. He never thought about it deeper, until now. Sure, when he underwent a mission to the Alternate Zela it crossed his mind, and he would ponder of it if it wasn’t for the constant notion of danger crossing his mind. Now, at a far safer position… — Yet… I can’t abandon what I’m trying to accomplish there. — Sure, Shunnsuke had his own ambitious, academic plans for Zela. However…there was more to it. He just didn’t know how far he could describe it without sounding crazy in front of a civil. Without giving in to the fact that he actually cared for the academy more than he’d like to admit.

Plucking at a few of the guitar strings, Casper looked back and forth between the other two through his bangs, a wide smirk stretching across his face. "Ohohoho, you got close, huh~? He leaned in what seemed to be uncomfortably close to Julian, his face inches from the dark haired teen's. "You, Psych, have some 'splainin to do."

Without missing a beat Julian gave Shunnosuke a bright smile, simultaneously shoving the blonde's face away.

"Oof-!" THUNK. "Owwwww, Psyyyy-!" The boy had tumbled back, somehow not expecting that response and ended up laying across the picnic table, his head just dangling off the edge.

"It was quite the bonding experience, I'd say." That was one to put that, at least.

Julian tilted his head slightly at Shunnosuke’s response, mulling it over for a moment in his head. “Can’t abandon what he was trying to accomplish”…ah. Right. Yeah, that little issue was going to stay around whether or not Shun went to Penecia or Zela academy, that was sure. Maybe he felt he wouldn’t have the time to dedicate to the problem if he moved back now?

Casper, in the meantime, pulled himself up and cocked his head at the blond. ”Accomplish…? Ooh, I see~.” he stroked his chin thoughtfully, a wry smile twitching his mouth upwards. ”Pray tell, what would that be, hmm~?” HE might’ve continued on—no, he would have continued had Julian not lightly tapped his friend’s knee with the back of his hand and given him a sober glance. To Cas’s credit, he only blinked back before looking at Shunnosuke with a wide grin. ”Ah well, guess it’s none of my business…”

— I can do the explaining. “Psy” here… — He glanced back to Julian through the corner of his eyes before turning back to the punk-looking friend of his: — …escorted me home and prevented me from committing a severe mistake, that’s all. — He crossed his arms, finding it weird to call Julian “Psy” — or any person by the nickname, for that matter. It was just not him at all, accustomed to formalities and referring to the first name or the last name in some cases, but never a sobriquet.

His glance narrowed as he examined the twisted smile on Casper’s lips. The guy looked like he was scheming something, or had mischievous ideas on his mind, judging by his rather curious interest in Shunnosuke’s business. And of course, he wasn’t oblivious to how Julian seemed to cut his friend’s intentions with discretion. No need for that, though. If it were something that bothered the blonde teenager, he could very well make sure to state it clearly himself. — It isn’t indeed. But it isn’t something truly secretive either. — He’d leave it at that, keeping whatever was in his mind to himself, behind his wry smile. Chances are none of them would understand what he sought at Zela at all, and it’ll be understandable. Not even Shunnosuke know what he should find there… — So, how long do you know each other? — By the way they were close, as in, close as every male young friendship can get, he guessed they were long-term friends, perhaps a bond that remits the childhood times… Kind of makes Shunnosuke envious.

"Six years." Julian responded easily, giving the blonde a light smile. He was glad to change the topic from Shunnosuke's "reasons"; while he trusted Casper with that side of things, he didn't want to force Shun to do the same, especially when technically they didn't even trust each other enough to say what they knew about each other outloud.

Fiddling with the tuners on his guitar once more, the other teen let out a playful snort, muttering in a sing-song voice, "Six years too long~." Julian reflexively elbowed Casper for that, earning a chuckle instead of a grunt. "I kid, I kid~! Psy's great. Glad I met him when I did. I wouldn't be the adorable guy you see sitting here otherwise if this one didn't come in!"

"Pfft, it would've have been that bad." Really, it wouldn't. Any injuries he might've sustained from then woud've long healed by now, anyways, and he doubted that one run-in would've positively affected Casper's height in any way.

"Yes! I would've been a felon! A hardened criminal! Assault, maybe, or murder! And from there, oh from there I might've gone on to do truly terrible things!" Casper leaned over, resting his chin on his friend's head and hugging him tightly around the shoulders. "Oh my mopey knight in armor, I am truly glad to call you friend!"

Julian let out a sigh before looking at Shunnosuke with a lopsided, if not mildly sheepish grin. "You probably guessed by now, but Cas likes to exaggerate. I promise, how we met was hardly life-changing in the least."

— ”Adorable”, huh? I like your self-confidence. — Shunnosuke poked back at Casper, a mischievous grin adorning his lips. While it may sound cocky of him, the comment had no other intention than to jester at his new acquaintance. They said “six years”. Quite a long time, indeed. Shunnosuke’s envious feeling confirmed when he tried to recall if he had any long-term friends and...nothing came to mind. And the way they were so physically close to each other, in such a mild, playful atmosphere, he couldn't help but feel at least a bit jealous in his quietness. Albeit hilarious, Shunnosuke didn't expose much reaction to the scene but to cover his mouth with one available hand and trying to be discreet. — Perhaps he does, but I guess he isn’t all that wrong. Perhaps it’s just in you to be a knight in armor. Even if you don’t look the part. — A sincere and unpretentious compliment, that’s quite rare of Shunnosuke. And Julian better appreciate it.

While he preoccupied himself with crushing Julian in a tight hug from the shoulders up, Casper shot Shunnosuke a wide, suagry smile in response to what he took as a compliment. Julian, through his struggles to pry his friend off gently, half wondered if Shunnosuke was actually being nice or if he was teasing. He wouldn't be surprised if it was either, to be honest.

...Was that his way of saying that he was a good person? Julian wasn't completely sure. Then again, his voice didn't have that teasing or mischevious lilt it normally had to it, so maybe it was. The blonde's last words, however, made Julian raise an eyebrow and grin. "Oh? I thought long hair and a tall stature was a prince thing?"

Casper rested his chin on Julian's head and hummed. "Maybe one of those reeeeally old storybook princes. But even they had their hair down, Psy. You keep yours tucked in this ponytail." He paused for a second at looked at his friend's hairstyle, only for his nose to wrinkle. "Which is seriously about to fall out. Better redo that."

Hm, long hair and tall stature were indeed a prince thing. But Casper had it precisely: a prince from a medieval tale. If he were to picture an ideal prince, he could definitely skip the white horse, the shining armor and rule over a kingdom for a gorgeous black limousine, a brand tailored suit and control over a successful enterprise. Recycling an old tale, that’s for sure.

— Hm… I must agree with Casper. You should let your hair down. Like me. — He flipped his hair in a cocksure, and humorously affected manner. Other than that, the blonde remained thoughtful. Glancing fixedly at Julian, one finger placed on his chin in a typical manner, gave him an idea of course related to the dark-haired friend. — Allow me? I want to check on something... — And therefore, his hands would move, reaching Julian’s ponytail, aiming to fulfill his previous suggestion: change his hairstyle for a bit. Now, if Julian would let him, it’d be a whole different story, though it wouldn’t hurt to try? Luckily, in case Julian got unsociable, Casper himself would assist him in the task.

"...? Sure, go ahead." Julian wasn't quite sure what Shunnouske wanted to do, but there was no harm in saying yes. Casper removed himself from his friend in the meantime, freeing Julian once more.

OH. His ponytail. That's what he was after. Julian offered no complaint or resistance to Shunnouske; in fact, his would come down rather easily and fall around his shoulders, mildly disheveled from the earlier hairstyle. Opting to assist rather than fight it, Julian combed his fingers through his hair briefly before giving Shunnosuke a smile.

"Well? Better than before?"

Casper laughed and gave Shunnosuke a thumbs up. "There we go; you have good taste! Doesn't he look better like this?" After he spoke, however, Casper's mouth pinched to one side in thought. "Lemme see that hair tie?"

Should Shunnosuke hand it to him, Casper would smile in thanks before pulling two small strands of hair away from Julian's face and tying them together, creating a half-do at the back. "Now we can see your piercing!" He would declare happily, hands on hips.

If Shunnosuke refused to hand over the hair band, Casper would shrug and smile anyways. "Still, it ooks better than it did before~!"

…Speechless. Shunnosuke stayed still, not averting his glance from the eyesight of Julian with his hair down. It’s true what they say, the hair is the face’s frame. A single change made Julian appear completely different to his eyes, enough to even mesmerize someone who’s not easily impressed.

— I know, right…? I mean, I’m just…wow. — He answered, clapping his hands together with the most surprised look. He handled the tie to Casper, in an automatic fashion for his eyes couldn’t be torn away from Julian’s new look. With time, he understood what the blonde friend of his upperclassman aimed for, but he didn’t even pay attention to the piercing. Not at all, because piercings didn’t entice him enough as haircuts and the myriad of styles a favorable length could allow. — …from a prince to a samurai. — He chuckled a bit, analyzing the dark-haired male’s new appearance. Half-tied hair, or completely loose hair? Tough choices, as any of them were far more appealing than his regular look. In any event, one thing was sure: — I believe we came to a verdict: no ponytail anymore. I still can’t decide whether I prefer your hair completely free or half-done. Casper, care to help me?

Julian laughed at Shunnosuke's expression. Who knew that all he had to do to shock the guy was let his hair down? Knowing that sure would've come in handy back at the club...

Casper, on the other hand, adopted a very serious expression and craned his neck in a multitude of directions, eyeing Julian's head from many different angles. After a few seconds, he'd let out a curious hum and set his guitar aside in order to stand up from the picnic table. It wouldn't be long until he hopped down and stood at Shunnosuke's side, tilting his head at his currently seated friend.

Julian eyed them both bemusedly, resting his elbows on his knees and his chin in his hand. "Well? You two reached a verdict yet?"

"Shhhhhhhh!" Casper hissed, reaching out a finger that came within centimeters of touching Julian's nose. "No talking, it ruins the ambiance."

"You know what else ruins the ambiance? You being so short." Julian shot back lazily, only to let out a laugh as Casper gave him a tap on the cheek in retaliation.

"Silence. My height is adorable, I will have you know."

Although the last hit didn't hurt, Julian decided to let Casper win this one. But realy, there was no contest; seeing 5'4" Casper next to a noticeably taller Shunnosuke...for some reason the sight amused him, and he wasn't afraid of either seeing the smile that resulted from it.

After another second of deliberation, Casper placed a hand on his hip and nodded firmly. "He certainly pulls both off. But each has kind of a different vibe to it. And with the outfit that you've got on..." his blue eyes raked down Julian's clothes, taking in the jeans and sleeveless hoodie the teen opted to wear before he stepped forwards and undid the ponytail. "Theeeere we go. Now you look a little less meh and a little more..." he snapped his fingers a few times before looking over at Shunnosuke curiously. "What's the word?"

For the majority of Casper's analysis, Shunnosuke remained silent, exactly as he requested, saving for a few snickering here and there due to the dark-haired male's jesting remark about his childhood friend's height, as well as his behavior. Quite an eccentric young man, but even Shun could understand where did it come from. While Casper was too enthusiastic about studying how appealing Julian can be under a variety of angles, the Kurosawa on the other hand preferred to just admire Julian's new look and release a few seemingly uninterested "hms" and nods here and there. At least until he was actually addressed to.

— ...hot? — He answered, bemused smirk twitching his lips upward. That was an inappropriate, vulgar word to describe someone else, and it slipped before Shun could realize what he had actually blurted out. — ...That is, the weather is rather hot these days to keep your hair so...wild and attractive and L-LOOSE, Y-YES! I mean, letting your hair down with such high temperature might make you even sweatier. Not that I'm saying you're sweaty...are you? — Up to this point, he didn't know what else to say, or even what he was saying: — A-alright, I think we had enough already. I definitely don't want to make Julian uncomfortable with such drooling over his new appearance, that's...not polite at all.

A smirk started curling the edges of Julian's mouth upwards at Shunnosuke's word choice. Cocking one eyebrow, the teen watched the underclassman start to fumble with his words, while in the background Casper let out a whooping laugh and bent over, holding his stomach as the chuckles continued.

He should probably take some pity on the poor guy. But after the last time, Julian wanted to mess with him just a little bit more. So instead of the nonchalant reply he usually would've given, he cocked his head and shrugged lightly. "Now that you mention it, I guess it is a little warm out here. Maybe I shouldn't be wearing a jacket out in this heat, huh?" After an unconcerned little laugh, he reached for the zipper of his jacket, saying, "I should probably-"

"I think I'm about to swoon." Casper drawled, placing the back of his hand to his forehead and allowing his knees to buckle slightly as if he was really about to faint. However, the wide grin on his face gave his theatrics away. Standing upright, he turned his gaze to Shunnosuke and elbowed him gently, saying in a not-so-quiet stage whisper, "Psssst, it's okay, I oggle him all the time and he hasn't complained yet."

"I used to, until I found out it was useless." His joke forgotten, Julian rested his chin in the palm of his hand and grinned at the two standing in front of him.

Casper nodded firmly. "Dang straight. So you just sit there and keep looking pretty, mm'kay?"

"I thought you said I lookd like a prince. Last I checked, princes aren't 'pretty'."

Throwing his hands up, Casper exclaimed to Shunnosuke, "You see how difficult he is?" Afterwards, he folded his arms and let out a short "hmph!".

Shaking his head slightly, Julian's expression softened before he looked back at Shunnosuke. "Thanks for the consideration, but it's alright. I don't mind if you look." After a brief pause, he let out a short chuckle. "After all, it's flattering to be told you look good."

Alright. If at one point, Shunnosuke was mildly flustered with his unintentional freudian slips, now his expression was nothing but a deadpan stare, shifting between Casper’s laughing fits and theatrical acts and Julian’s teasing remarks. He wasn’t oblivious to what were Julian’s intentions and he definitely was far from pleased.

— I know what you’re trying to do. That won’t work with me. — He delivered a glare, cutting his upperclassman short; needless to say, he was even more embarrassed now as he felt his face burn, rather than annoyed at the situation. — Also, I should let you know I haven’t said a word about you “looking good”. Don’t get cocky. As for you... — He looked back to Casper, with his expression still stern and sarcastic. — I wasn’t “oggling” him? I’m not the kind to deliver inappropriate stares. And mind you, Julian is not my type. No offense. — At least the last part was true...partially. It could be worked around, but he wouldn’t elaborate on that, to not give more ammo to the pair, as well as not adding fuel to the fire. As if his face wasn’t burning enough.. — Anyway, I think I’ve stayed enough. It’s about time I should stop bothering your Jam session, which I barely listened to, for some odd reason. I hope you didn’t give up just because I arrived? — He knew that probably wasn’t the case. Even if, Shunnosuke wouldn’t mind at all. There's a special pleasure for the teenager in being an inconvenient and undesired company.
