Agents of the Storm (Daniel/Oki)

“Oki, if you are well behaved and do everything I tell you, you will get a treat.”

A bowl of strawberries were shown to the being. It could feel pure joy at the thought of eating those sweet berries, but it could not rush to them. Chains were holding it down and thick glass rested between itself and the food. Still it watched those berries with anticipation.

“If you disobey and misbehave, you won’t get the strawberries. Instead, you will get this.”

The strawberries vanished from view as the chains that bound it became suddenly painful and burning. Oki wanted the things off. It squirmed, but could not escape. The metal burned. Burned for an eternity before the sensation vanished leaving the being shaky and drained.

“Now you know the rules, so let’s start the game, shall we? I am going to count to ten and then release you. Once you are released, you will go to door Number 13 and face the challenge there. Ready? 1…2…3…”

The counting continued becoming softer and softer as blackness began to over take the scene. Blackness and silence...


Oki heard a sound and jerked lightly in its sleep as it cracked on eye open and looked around the area it was in. It was still sitting bowed forward and dazed in a small room. Across from it was the boy from the night before….What was his name again?

The being blinked sleepily as its mind fought to catch up with the present as it moved slightly in its spot feeling the pinches and aches of being overworked and with that sensation the memories of the night before came back.

The search for information, being captured, the near death experience, and now the prison…

Right, Oki thought as it carefully unfolded itself from its position. It felt stiff and off balance, but knew the sensation would eventually fade if it could just get on its feet. It would manage…even if all it wanted was to lay down and go back to sleep.

Scooting to the edge of the bed, Oki looked at the floor and found that its hat had managed to somehow get knocked off and fall on that cold floor. That explained the noise that startled it, but for now the hat would remain on the floor as sleepy green eyes leveled with Dani.

The being wondered how he was doing; however, before it could make any move to check on the other, it heard the sounds of an intercom speaker come to life and then floating from it the familiar voice of Helen.

As the being heard her voice and what she said, it sighed lightly as it shook its head and slipped back into its boots.

“Up, up, up,” it would mutter to itself as it leaned over and picked up its hat before getting to its feet even its body was protesting against the actions. It would head over to Dani to check on him.

“Neh, Dani?” it called gently as reached out and gently poked the other seeing if that might wake him up if he was still asleep.

Dani woke up a few hours last night and realized the door was locked he just decided to lay down. Dani needed to know how many hours it's been since he took the pill Oki was sleeping on the bed across the room from him. Dani laid back down this was really annoying he stared at the celling for hours. Dani was careful so he didn't wake Oki he took something out of his pockets,  it was a handheld game system he tried to turn it on, but it had no charge left. Dani sighed staring at the celling again. Dani the took out his cellphone, it was dead with no charge as well. Dani started thinking about his family, he usually kept his phone charged hopefully they were not to worried. Dani then wondered, why he couldn't see well. Dani then realized he was missing his glasses he, was wondering were they went, they didn't fall off during the scuffle did they?. Dani then found them at least he wouldn't have to worry about getting a new pair of glasses. Dani didn't put on the glasses though his One crimson colored eye, and one sky blue eye stared at the celling. Dani glared it didn't make any since, who was it Deva works for?. All Deva did was be cryptic as all hell, he hated not knowing what was going on. "Tch thanks a lot Deva we are still stuck as her prisoners how can we achieve peace if we are stuck here, we wont in this life time if we are stuck here". Dani whispered to himself maybe Deva would listen to him and his pleas, but Dani knew it wouldn't happen. Dani took a deep breath through his nose his deodorant was starting to wear off he was a teenager so he sweated a lot, and logically he needed a shower.

Dani glared when he heard the woman's voice over the speaker. Dani sighed, when Oki came over and poked him. Dani got up rubbing his head were he was hit, and looked at Oki with a smirk on his face. Dani was a man he had to remain string even, if it meant smirking like an idiot all the time. "We are up lady please hold your horses"  Dani said politely as possible. Dani sighed and took out the pill bottle there were very few pills left, he needed to get a refill in the next few day, or something bad would happen.  Dani took one of the pills and swallowed it quickly. Dani's smirk still on his face he stood up with no problems. Dani stood there thinking about something. Dani waited for his and Oki's captor to speak up.

Oki had drifted over to Dani and poked him in the side to see if it could wake him; however, much to its surprise the young man was already up. Huh…had he woken up during the night and the being had missed it due to being too tired? Or had he awoken with the poke? It was hard to say as the other sighed before getting up and rubbing his head in the spot where he was struck the night before. The action caused Oki to worry for his well being at first, but as the other gave the being a smirk, Oki found the worry die down a little as it gave the other a smile in return.

“Hey there!” Oki said in a friendly tone despite the odd situation around them.  Well at least Dani seemed to be okay and back to his usual self. Even his comment back to Helen seemed to suggest so and he was able to get up with no problem too. Good. Very good. Quite pleased with the condition of the other, it was easy for Oki to move back to give the other some space as its attention turned back to the speaker as Helen spoke.

Dani seemed peeved with her, but the old being quiet used to he prisoner life remained neutral as it listened to what was said. Helen still didn’t trust them despite being allies and so kept them locked up as a precaution. Heh made logical sense, so Oki was not mad. It saw where she was coming from, even if it did not fully agree with her ways. When she mentioned food and spoke of Deva and her power, Oki considered what was said carefully. So it would seem they were connected to the angel (now dubbed Goddess by Oki) and could talk with her, but whether she answered or not was random. Alright…that was fair enough. Seemed that Helen had been able to this at some point in the past. Well that was good to know.

Taking it all in, Oki would nod lightly as it processed the information taking it as Goddess watching them as they did whatever was to come next. After she had spoken, silence filled the room only to be broken if Dani said anything to Oki or in response to what Helen had said. For now, the being had nothing to add onto the conversation so it stayed quiet as it sat on the edge of the bed to wait.

When food came a while later, Oki was had mixed feelings on what was given. It wasn’t that it was turning down food or thinking it was poisoned or what not. What made the being hesitate for a second was memories of the past and the cruel reward system that revolved around food. While it was uncertain of Helen, it didn’t want to think her cruel in that fashion, so after shaking its head to get over flashbacks, the being collected its portion of food before moving to the corner of the room to eat it. A bad habit, but meh that is just the way it was. It ate the food and enjoyed it quite a bit on one hand, on the other hand a small part of it was squirming and praying this would not be a repeat of the past. It…could not go back to that life. No…it would not.

In any case, once breakfast and whatever occurred there was over, Helen’s voice would eventually come back over the intercom. Oki would listen before responding.

“Correct, we are from the other side,” Oki said from its corner finding no reason to hide too much information from the other who was an ally. It would then tilt its head at the request for to perform a mission. “Details, yes?” Oki asked before falling silent to await a reply and listen to whatever Dani had to say. It was interested to see what the mission was about just as it was quite eager to be free of its prison. While it could handle it being in a cage for a bit, it honestly didn’t want to slip back into old ways, especially not with a prison companion….a prison companion that might be a problem. He did have to take pills to keep his persona in check, right? What happened if said medicine ran out? Did Oki really want to know….?

Dani sighed this was getting them nowhere. Dani simply listened to Helen's offer. "First thank you for the food Helen" Dani thanked his captor for the food. What Dani found out is he isn't shy around Helen which is weird for him. Dani ate his fill  of his food not to much though. Dani continued to listen ,then Dani sighed It's always something. "Well Helen as long I can continue living life in the world I come from, me personally I don't like being a prisoner" Dani knew he was in no way in a position to bargain but he has a family and friends sort of in his world. Dani wanted Helen to treat him like a partner or at most an human being with needs. Dani would always take Zackary's side over Helen's hopefully he would never have to come to a situation like that. Dani wondered if Zackary was Okay he would need to check on him to make sure he is okay. Dani really needed to get back to his own world.

So… That was that.

Oki stayed in its corner, listening to the conversation at hand feeling conflicted at the moment as the way the being worked clash with what it was order to do. If it had been in the same state of mind it had been when it was a prisoner, then the mission would’ve been carried out without an issue. On fear of punishment and hunger, the being would’ve done what it was told to do. Just like a trained beast…but Oki was not that person anymore. It had learned to let others in and in turn had grown into a better person for it.

Now did this mean that it would rebel and turn against the angel it had aligned itself with? No. The angel’s words rang true with what Oki thought the world should be like. It wanted one of peace and joy. It wanted the wars to end; however, killing without first hearing the other angels out was a bit troublesome. Also what about the people it was being commanded to eliminate….some of them were quite close to Oki and it was not one to betray those it cared for. Besides, it didn’t agree fully with Helen’s ways. If they were to go forward with the plan, how did she expect those without power to fight? Sure, you could rally up strong troops, but against angels and the other unknowns that were not human out there? Did she really expect, things to work this way? And what of Deva…did she agree with Helen? She had said she wanted to create Helen's world, but...

Oki remained quiet the whole while as it listened to what was said. When the woman was done making her "deal" and giving her commands, Oki bowed its head and pulled its knees close to it. The rim of its hat hide its face in shadows as a single word calm word came from it.

“Understood.”

That was all. A simple response to an order. It needed to be able to move and work this complicated mess out on its own. It needed to reconnect with someone, but before that it needed to see if it could speak with goddess one-on-one. See if she agreed there was another way to fight this battle without erasing everyone that was different in the process. Also it wanted to know about Helen and why it was that she was so bent on this one idea. Why she wasn’t willing to open her heart and cooperate with others of like minds even if they had powers. So much to do with such little time. And Dani…what did he plan to do in all this mess?

The being would continue to be silent and think, shifting things around in some logical order. It had its orders…but how to carry them out.

Yeah shit who was he kidding Zackary didn't like him and Helen didn't either. "Sure why not?" Dani asked a rhetorical question he didn't want to do this, but it was his only option for now anyways.  "I accept the mission" Dani didn't know what to do but once he got outta here it was going to be something big even if it started out small. Dani tried to contact Deva in his mind but to no avail. Dani had a look of general depression in his eyes but there was still a smirk on his face. Dani knew that it would take a lot more planning then what she suggested her way was wrong and he knew it. Yet he kept the smirk on his face his plan for now ,was to just to follow orders and hope nothing bad would happen. Dani's first order of business when he got out of here would be to contact Deva.

The board was set and the mission for Oki and Dani given. With their promise to do as they were told, Helen let them go easily enough, saying she wished to believe in them before the door was opening and the option for freedom was there. Oki wasn’t sure what Dani may be thinking, but it knew that it had a few things to do. The first order of business was to reorganize the racing thoughts into some logical order Oki had people it needed to see and a goddess to talk to about this whole ordeal.

The old being simply could not accept Helen’s ways…and yet….it didn’t want to believe the woman was bad. Perhaps she was just misunderstood; however to confirm such a hunch as truth Oki knew it would need to face the woman one-on-one, but at the moment that meeting was not a priority. For now, the being simply wanted to be elsewhere to think.

When the door opened and Helen told them about the rif, Oki hesitated for only a moment before pushing itself to its feet and making its way to the door. It paused briefly by Dani and glanced over at the other with a calm smile.

“Let us meet again down the road. Maybe catch up or something at a later date. Until next we meet, take care,” Oki said before heading out into the hall.

Being cautious, the being would make its way to the tear that Helen had promised was in the hall. Interesting. Oki had not notice a rift the night before. Had it been there and it had simply missed it due to exhaustion? Oki wasn’t sure and so would approach with caution just in case said rift was a trap. When it got closer without anything happening, Oki would enter into the rift feeling the familiar pulls and tugs of the space between the words as it passed through. Stepping from Alternate San Malarus and back into the run down part of the original island, Oki took a few steps forward before pausing to get a good whift of the air and enjoy its small bit of freedom.

Aftrer the pause, Oki would begin to walk moving from Old San Malarus and back to the business district.

Oki has exited thread.    

"Thank you for food I think I will be leaving now" Dani gave a polite bow and then got up. Dani walked down the hallway slowly. Dani saw the portal was that here the night before, oh well it didn't matter right now. Dani walked up to the portal sensing whatever the strange fluctuations coming from it were. Dani shrugged he'd tried to solve this problem with Helen without violence, damn he knew he forgot something how was he supposed to contact Oki?. Dani shrugged but his finger through the rift portal or whatever it was called. Dani needed some rest and tried to figure this out logically, there must be a way to solve this whole issue without violence. Dani just sighed and went through the portal completely leaving the strange place intent in mind peace through negotiations.
