Feels like I'm caught in an endless cycle of happiness followed by letdowns. Everyone else seems to know who they are, but me? I'm just... lagging behind.

Appearance: Lumyr is a boy of pale skin and average height. His snowy white hair is a point of interest when paired with his crimson eyes, which gives off a "glowing" look when put together visually. His smile is often shark-like, rarely giving off a kinder looking smile.

He puts little effort into his appearance, choosing mostly to wear what he likes or is comfortable. His personal favorite of these outfits is his white and black outfit with purple highlights. It is merely coincidence that it suits his own hair and eye color, as he isn't particularly a fashionista. His hair is often shaggy and jagged, with little more than some sculpting with wet hands in the morning. Some would say he looks intimidating with this look, especially considering he comes from a part of town not so ideal. He just sees it as putting in the littlest amount of work and providing the best results.

Personality: Lumyr considers himself a realist. However, his outlook of the "real" world is one that is typically grouped more towards a pessimist. In his mind, there is no light at the end of the tunnel. No answer to life's questions. No truly pure people in the world. There's just him trying to crawl through the finish line of life filled with mediocrity.

This does not mean to say he is suicidal or "emo". He thinks nothing of the idea of self harm or suicide. Or at least, not physically.

His experiences throughout life have led him to a rather lonely standing. He is usually opposed to outgoing people, seeing their happy-go-lucky selves as a false mask carved to help them attain their own selfish goals. Anyone who appears overly kind or approaches him with eagerness either has ulterior motives or wishes to hurt him further. Such is his belief of most people.

As such, his social life is quite void. He knows almost no one at school by name, and is known as a "weird kid" among his peers for his lack of friends and standoffish attitude when approached. He fears more rejection and pain from further social connections, and thus can be hard to approach.

Due to how little interaction he's had, he has forgotten what his real personality was, or if he even knew what it was to begin with. It's become the subject of much lone pondering for him. His wondering of who he really is and why he can't be as socially successful as others is a constant source of food for thought. If he were to show off his true personality without the standoffish attitude if even for a moment, it would be one of understanding and lighthearted humor. Someone who truly does care for the person he's interacting with. However, for that to surface would require more trust than is required for others his age.

—Description: Growing up, Lumyr had few people his age to play with, and so a majority of his time was spent being introduced to thinking games by his dad. He would spend hours playing chess, checkers, poker, and a wide variety of board games. As his competition was mostly with adults as well, he was forced to learn and excel to stay in the game long enough to feel satisfied. As such, his planning abilities exceed what would be normally expected for his age.

—Description: As his position mainly as an observer, his experience with people personally is limited. However, his time on the sidelines has turned into an abnormally observant nature. He can pick up on social cues and body language extremely well, which has aided him in his desire to avoid people with false personalities.

—Strength Name: Resilient
—Description: Despite his pessimistic attitude, he carries a strong resilience towards pressing on through his life. He has not once thought of suicide; in fact, each rejection has only strengthened his resolve to live to prove his enemies wrong. Less physically, and more that his will and mind will not easily break under pressure.

—Strength Name: Literate
—Description: Despite his often rough exterior, Lumyr is actually quite interested in linguistics of both Japanese and English origins. He often recites poems or quotes from famous writers to himself as motivation or as a mood setter. His speech can sometimes sound old-fashioned as opposed to his rough speech usually, which is somewhat of a shock to anyone who knows his usual demeanor.

—Strength Name: Brawler
—Description: To cope with bullying and annoying people as a child, he learned how to defend himself. Not so much as an official martial art as it was getting tips from his dad. "Act hotblooded and filled with soul!" he would say. And so Lumyr would. He has, as a result, become an unpredictable fighter free from the rules and bans of competitive martial arts. This is not to say he is on the same skill level as a black belt, merely that his physical might and talent for brute force surpass that of others.

—Description: Despite his rather unapproachable appearance, he is fragile in social situations due to anxiety. This is not to say he'll engage in full-out panic attacks, but it prevents him from being himself. It is something that has stood in the way of making friends for a long time for him, and has no signs of ending soon.

—Weakness Name: Envious
—Description: He hates seeing outgoing people doing their thing, it may be true, but he secretly envies those people at the same time. The fact that they can so easily make friends forces him to question why such a thing isn't possible for him as well.

—Weakness Name: Rude
—Description: His rudeness makes him unlikable to those around him. He's described as quite a jerk to anyone who could possibly speak of him; even some teachers see him as a nuisance for his uncaring choice of words.

—Weakness Name: Pessimistic
—Description: He gives up often before he even tries. He doesn't like to put in time to see results if they don't show themselves immediately, and views struggles as pointless if they don't seem to lead anywhere within the realms of possibility. Dreams of grandeur have long exited his mind, and believes only mediocrity awaits him.

—Description: Lumyr believes himself to be worth less than others. He believes his true self to be not worth showing, if he even knows what his true personality is. Everyone else is such a shining star compared to him, in his mind. Everyone is so much more attractive, physically and mentally, when compared to him.

The Background

History:

Lumyr grew up with his father in a rather normal household. His mother died in childbirth, and so the only connection he has to his deceased mother is old photos of her and his dad together. As an only child, he was rather spoiled and got whatever he wished from his dad.

His father was never all that responsible. Busy working a law firm, he never had much time for Lumyr and refused to pay a babysitter of any sort. As such, Lumyr has been attuned to loneliness a while before any type of bullying started. The rare times his dad was around for a full day, he showered the boy with gifts in an effort to make him happy and make up for lost time. These times were also when he taught Lumyr the fine points of chess, and where his hotblooded philosophy for self defense came from. The boy took these attributes to heart in hopes it would make him stand out in some way. When that didn't end up happening, he instead pressed on with these two outlets as ways to defend himself should he ever run into trouble.

He had always been afraid to interact with people, and his shy and fleeting nature was one that brought on much teasing and even bullying from an early age. It started out with the name calling one would expect of a grade school bully, but eventually ascended into physical beatings into the late elementary and early middle school years. People who originally appeared as kind and able to be trusted eventually turned on him after realizing his meek nature and the misunderstanding that his shyness was a loathing for them.

Words never brought responses. When he tried to explain his shyness and developing anxiety, no one ever heard or understood. People who were once friends claimed to "mature faster than him", and began to leave him one by one until he was left with very few people other than his dad and other visiting relatives.

He began to develop a mistrust for those around him, and became wary to never let anyone as close as he once accepted them to be. His attitude began to change and his grades improved drastically from average to excellent as a way to spite the ones that put him down. When he began to become recognized as someone that may need a second chance, it was already too late. Anyone who tried approaching him was met with a rather rough exterior and a desire for nothing but his studies and proving his worth over others.

For a time, he joined up with a delinquent gang in Standasen, much to his father's own ignorance. More as a planner than anything, having been a fair bit more intelligent than the drop-outs he surrounded himself with, Lumyr was used more as the fall guy should his plans fail. With his help, the gang committed minor acts of theft and vandalism.

After a disagreement with the gang leader, however, Lumyr quit the gang. They threatened to tell the police about his involvement if they ever got caught, but he ignored them. He turned away from them, not looking back and not sticking around to see the results of their continuing crime without some method to the madness.

Returning to his studies, now a second year in high school, he is focused once more on staying ahead of the people he wishes to prove wrong.

Looking really good here. Very nice character. Just two things to address.

I'm guessing you're joining the main plot, right? Then you should pick a different place. Nadashiki, and anything in Ueitawa was from our last plot. (Even if, only one Wild Card is allowed in the last plot happenings right now, and we already have that) You should pick a place from Azores to live in. Also, as unfortunate as it is, someone already has a character that uses the guy you did as a Face Claim. And as we cannot have two of the same, you'll have to change. Maybe pick someone who looks similar to him so you wouldn't have to amend appearance much. Or, if you don't mind going for something different, you could change completely too. That, or not use an image at all, if you do a good enough description which I believe you do have. Though, I suppose it is always nicer to have a FC. I'll leave the decision up to you ^^

Straighten these out, and you're totally approved ~ It is really a great character all in all.

Safi, be sure to check the activity of the person. If they are hardly active, or not active at all, we'll give them a day to claim their face claim. If they do not claim it, then this user can have it.

Also, Lum, if you're joining the Azores plot be sure to get permission from Gran-chan to see if he is allowing Wild Cards right now for the Nyarlathotep side. He's the dungeon master so it's up to him.
