One thing that life taught him was that he had to make the best of every single second he had, and to Shuusei, that was to make his parents and his sister proud of him. Proud of him for being the son that they never had, and proud of being the older brother who is always there for the youngest girl of the house. If not, precious moments could never have been created or even if they were, they would simply slip past his fingers.
The chirps of the birds and the crickets pulled at his awareness, an invisible attempt to lull him to sleep. He struggled against the tendrils that reached out to pull him into the darkness. The rays of the sun filtered through the leaves, as though showing Shuusei that there was a small gleam of hope in desperate times. Not that Shuusei was in any despair at the moment. If anything, he just wanted to lie awake and fall back into his memories.
A single leaf fell towards him. He blew it away, and closed his eyes. It was the same thing every day. Sure, he didn't mind studying, but even so, Shuusei found it boring. After all, routine eventually became uninteresting over time. Surely there was something more exciting out there, was there not?
