| Promethea, Bringer of Light "Actually, that title's proooobably a tiny little bit exaggerated... but heck, s'what everyone calls me back home! I'm Promethea Neath, pleased to meet'cha!"
The Biography
|
Birth Name: Promethea Neath Aliases: Bringer of Light Gender: Female Age: By Earth years, 19 Birth Day: The Lepidopteran race doesn't use a calendar system as it can't measure daylight or night time, so the relative date on Earth wouldn't match with the planet's orbital position in its system; conversely, it measures only the changes in temperature from the planet's two seasons, but not exactly. Arcana: 0 - "Portrayed as a jester laughing very close to a cliff, accompanied with a dog at his heels. The Fool represents innocence, divine inspiration, madness, freedom, spontaneity, inexperience, chaos and creativity." Place of Residence: Personal Lepidopteran Spaceship, Class Sphinx-2, Built for long-term exploration of Anti-Space and equipped with debris collection and filtering for ration-making purposes, as well as stored sustenance for at least the equivalent of around twenty Earth years in the case of emergencies. Evoker: Persona Module
Occupation: Anti-Space Explorer, part of the Lepidopteran Space Program and tasked with finding a way to reignite its solar system's Black Dwarf Star.
Appearance: Promethea is a humanoid, and a slightly short (5'2) girl, that much is clear; she has very distinct feminine features and a well-kept appearance with surprisingly proper beautying up for the member of a species with very little visible light. Speaking of which: her most striking feature is in her eyes, whose sclera are obviously black, with yellow irises and a distinct optimistic twinkle to them. Her skin is a light pink color, while her disheveled hair is a slightly darker shade of the same color. As far as differences from humans go, there's only really one more: the small lightning bolt-shaped antennae protruding from her head.
Buuuut, for a Lepidopteran, she has a few interesting quirks. As opposed to her race, who dress modestly and in simple, monotone colors due to the lack of any sort of bright light to make their clothing stand out, she specifically chooses to dress in flashy, colorful clothing, often slightly revealing, but mostly just whatever is currently fashionable. This extends to her jumpsuit-- her most common outfit when inside any spaceship --which is a psychadelic mess of blues and greens that looks like it took inspiration from a lava lamp, topped with a short furred yellow jacket.
Personality: Innocent and optimistic, Promethea is the very picture of youthful energy and drive. As one of the chosen ones entrusted with the future of her Solar System, she carries with her a surprisingly bright attitude; though, naturally, that's not the only facet of her personality. Promethea is an astronaut, a very specifically chosen and trained one to go out into the dangerous void of Anti-Space and bring back a solution to her species' plight some day. Despite her attitude, she takes her job seriously, always eager to display her technical knowhow and surprising insight into the inner workings of both technology and the supernatural.
The young Lepidopteran is someone only starting out her journey, though. She still bears the innocence of someone only starting to venture out into the real world, and the infinite potential of someone with countless paths ahead of her.
But regardless of that, Promethea's a fairly kind girl, though an upbeat and rambunctious one, preferring to solve disputes between friends through a nice friendly brawl than really talking things out. She doesn't think as much as she feels; this doesn't mean she isn't smart, as she really has to be in order to even be selected as an astronaut, but more that she prefers to follow her heart towards what she feels is right and leave the thinking work to other people. Even so, she's a reasonably balanced person who can at least be convinced to stay put and talk. She's also fairly easy to trust and quite easily trusts people in return. In conclusion, she's fairly decent at a lot of things, but doesn't particularly excel in any of them and her bright and cheery attitude can easily become grating in a dreery environment.

The Potential

Racial Bonus:
—Alien Strength Name: Echolocation —Description: Being from a world engulfed almost entirely in darkness, Promethea's species evolved to have extremely sensitive ears and the ability to emit a low-frequency noise which they can use to map out their surroundings with both their horns and their ears once it bounces off objects and returns to them. Not only does this mean that Promethea is completely capable of moving accurately while blinded, simply by using the sounds already around her, it's also adapted into her spaceship's design, which uses the same kind of system but with radio waves instead of sound waves, allowing it to use something very similar to a sonar. Mechanically, this strength gives Promethea the ability to use the skill Dungeon Scan innately, even when her Persona Plug is sealed; it still costs SP to use, however. Further instances of the Dungeon Scan skill still increase its radius as per normal.
Strengths:
—Strength Name: Astronaut Conditioning —Description: Promethea's been trained to withstand a wide range of gravitational force variations due to her training with the Lepidopteran Space Program; as such, she's quite athletic. Her physical strength and stamina are a notch above regular people, though it isn't necessarily superhuman, but this translates to her having an innate 15% boost to her Luck stat.
—Strength Name: Omnivorous —Description: The Lepidopteran species is very similar to Earth moths, such that they can gain sustenance from things such as cloth and stave off hunger fairly easily. Of course, this doesn't replace a balanced diet, especially when you're a highly skilled Anti-Space explorer who needs good enough nutrition to sustain said lifestyle, buuuut it does mean that even weird supernatural food tastes good. When healing items are used on her, she heals 20% more HP or SP. Ailment-healing items are unaffected.
—Strength Name: Eternal Night —Description: Being used to the low-light environment of their planet, Lepidopterans have developed in such a way that they don't really need a lot of sleep to function properly; though this requirement is definitely increased for astronauts such as Promethea due to her regular presence in lit up environments, the fact that she can easily close her eyes and see just as well means she can stave off sleep a lot more easily than any human could. She wakes up from Sleep in one turn fewer than normal.
—Strength Name: Durable Exoskeleton —Description: Lepidopterans are insects. That much is fairly obvious. What isn't obvious is that while they do have a regular skeleton, they also have a sort of pseudo-exoskeleton just under their skin, granting them quite a bit of protection from physical blows. Promethea has a passive 10% damage reduction against Physical attacks of all kinds.
—Strength Name: Perfect Accuracy —Description: As Promethea's perception isn't based primarily on sight, she's more easily capable of pinpointing anyone's location with extreme accuracy; camouflage, optical illusions, any sort of visual trickery is ineffective on Promethea as soon as she closes her eyes and can focus on echolocation. In mechanics, if she has a higher than base 10% miss chance on an enemy, it is lowered by 10% (i.e. 20% goes down to 10%, 30% to 20%, etc.).
----- ((A floating Strength is a strength you've gained inRP. For example, if you were on a Kendo team for some time, you'd naturally know Kendo which is where this strength would come in. However, be aware, it will not be as strong as any of your actual strengths and is a small plus.)
—Floating Strength Name: —Description:
Weaknesses:
—Weakness Name: Light Sensitivity Part 1 —Description: Due to Promethea's species, her eyes aren't used to bright lights being shone on her; though for physical lights she can usually avoid this by just shutting her eyes and using her echolocation to see instead, for superantural Light, that's not so easy. Light skills are 15% more effective on her.
—Weakness Name: Light Sensitivity Part 2 —Description: Second verse, same as the first. When successfully hit by a damaging Light skill (as instakills would mean she's already KOed), she has a 15% chance of being stunned for the next turn.
—Weakness Name: hot hot HOT HOT HOT —Description: Fire burns. Especially when you're basically a sapient human-sized insect and your hair is extremely flammable and also so's your not-skeleton. Promethea cannot have a resistance to Searing Burn, even when equipped with a Plug that would normally nullify it. The ailment still needs to hit her, of course.
—Weakness Name: Death's Touch —Description: The most certain doom to the Lepidopterans has always been the cold of the outside world. Living in caves to escape it, the minute they went out without protective suits, they froze solid in the God of Death's cold breath. As they had to adapt to warmer environments and never once dared face the cold, Promethea, as with her whole species, is more susceptible to it. She takes 15% more damage from Ice-based skills.
—Weakness Name: Sound Hypersensitivity —Description: Despite the usefulness of echolocation, having sensitive ears to low-frequency noises can be really hindering when someone uses those sounds to disrupt your mind supernaturally. Skills that inflict Distress are 15% more likely to hit Promethea.
----- ((A floating weakness is one gained in RP. It could be a fear you inherited during RP, or an injury that hinders your character. Some can be temporary while others can be permanent. Do not: if you do something stupid that would sensibly get your character screwed, you WILL earn yourself one of these bad boys!)
—Floating Weakness Name: —Description:
Soul Bound Weapon:
Weapon Name: Just a pair'a fists Weapon Description: You know what a fist looks like? Yeah? That but pink. The range is like, melee, in reach, there's no additional length to fists like there is any other weapon. Weapon Image: Damn right it's not necessary. Weapon Attack Type: Strike Weapon Element: Cute and Deadly (N/A)
Side-Arm Weapon:
Side-Arm Name: Standard-Issue Self-Defense Pistol Side-Arm Description: A futuristic originally chrome blaster that Promethea painted in the same colors and pattern as her jumpsuit. Side-Arm Image: Where would I even get this for this thing Side-Arm Attack Type: Gun Side-Arm Style: Revolver - Single Shot - Accuracy is increased by 20%. Consumes only one type of ammo per use. Can shoot only one enemy at a time.
