A Run-in with a Highschool Detective (Yukino)

Subject: A Run-in with a Highschool Detective (Yukino) Sat Aug 24, 2019 6:18 pm

Our young sleuth of a schoolgirl was sitting outside under a tree in the school field, eating a very neatly boxed lunch as she went over some notes that she kept inside of a black leather-bound notebook.
Her icy blue eyes flicked between words, notes on her newest subject. She had a duty to keep tabs on the people that she met, so that she could pull her conclusions and theories from her known information.
It was quite hot today, and Yukino had rolled up her sleeves- displaying her quite slimly toned arms that had been trained to fight in emergencies.
I wonder if another will appear. she thought to herself as she bit into a ham sandwich.

Witnessing people on the academy field with eyes glued to their notebooks was pretty par for the course for any educational facility. People always had studies and homeworks to catch up with as they lazed about in their daily lives. So a fellow student looking at her notebook wasn't anything new nor interesting, nor did it pique Frog's interest. What piqued Frog's interest was the physique that was sticking out of her rolled-up sleeves.

Now, Frog was never a peeper. He merely observed that which he found pleasing, innocently unaware of any sexual motivators or otherwise. He observed with curiosity as to see where each of the muscles' contures led and how they interacted with each other. How it was all connected into the fine-tuned machine that was the human forearm.

He stopped in his tracks, a few meters away from the girl, and watched her left arm intently. He frowned a little as he thought about the forearm and he shuffled the hair out of his eye so he could see it better.

"It's called an arm." the young woman spoke out without looking at the boy who was staring at her. "A pretty common thing in people."

Yukino stood up as she closed her notepad and slipped it into a pocket inside of her long skirt. The Girl Detective turned her head and looked at Frog with a smile. Yet another person had spoken to her today, perhaps an admirer from how intently he was watching her arm.

"Though, it's common courtesy to greet someone before you start staring at them." she continued on. "Otherwise one may think that you're a stalker. It happens to me sometimes."

Frog backed away a step or two when she addressed him. Quickly he turned his head away but it was too late anyways, since she'd clearly noticed him by that point. But strangely, she didn't seem mad. This made him wary, as it may have meant she was planning something or pretending. After all, in his eyes, why wouldn't she be mad at him?

"OF course it's an arm." He replied. "I totally wasn't staring." He finally turned to face her. He only really liked the 'design' of her arm, nothing more nothing less, and it made him feel awkward that he was being called out over something that he didn't see as anything bothersome. Or at least he was being called out from his own viewpoint. The girl still seemed pretty fine with all this.

"Anyways I'm Frog. So now I'm no longer a stalker. Not that I was staring."

"My name is Yukino Matsunaga, a second year and private detective." the young woman replied to him.

She stood to face Frog as she pushed her hair back to look at him properly. Her icy blue eyes looked him up and down, silently analysing his appearance and posture. She smiled as she continued to speak.

"You know it's perfectly fine to admit that you were staring." she continued. "It's not like it's something you need to be embarrassed about now is it?"

As she looked, a thought went through her head. Yet another person that she could talk with. After all, that long-nosed man had told her that bonds gave power. This was the perfect opportunity to expand on that power and grow.

"Private detective at your age?" Frog raised an eyebrow but kept a surprised look on his face. In Endymion, things like this were a constant rather than a curiosity. Babies in diapers were running around wielding Personas or doing detective work and stuff. He was sure there had to have been a dog that was all those things and more in Endymion. Just the kind of place the city was.

He eyed her awkwardly as she eyed him. It felt like some sort of punishment for his earlier staring. "Telling me it's fine to admit really isn't changing muchhh." He replied with an awkward grin, almost apologetic in its skewedness. His eyes darted to his feet then up at the girl again, realizing he'd forgone a common courtesy. "Ah err, nice to meet you then, Yukino."

"Likewise." Yukino smiled. Somehow it was like she had completely forgiven and forgotten his earlier staring by the way that she spoke.

She giggled somewhat after seeing his awkwardness in talking to her. The Girl Detective soon enough replied to him.

"And yes, I'm a private detective." she continued. "I work for myself, to solve crimes and mysteries that are brought to my attention. For the right price of course. Give me a call if you ever need something solving for you."

Yukino quickly handed over a small card with a phone number and the title "P.I Yukino Matsunaga" on the front of it.

Her nonschalantness confused him. Her being confused him. For all it was worth, he couldn't really get a reading on this detective person. She didn't look the part of a successful rugged businesswoman detective, mostly owing to her age.

Frog accepted the card without hesitation. He hardly trusted a complete stranger enough to believe such a story but he could always make use of such information, honestly. He masked his real thoughts with a smile as he accepted. "Oh right, thanks. But self-employed? Are you advertising in any way? How do you even get clients?" He added, curiously. Some people were just that resourceful. Seeing and learning of such resourcefulness could give him insight into how he could proceed.

He scratched the back of his head awkwardly, knowing full well he was about to speak absolute lies. "Doubt I'll ever have reason to call you, but you never know, right? Hahah."

"That's right. You never know when you may need a detective." Yukino smiled. "I do advertise, I just handed you my ad. It's a business card if you didn't know already."

Yukino's smile didn't let up. She really was a mysterious character. Did she even really have a reason to do any of this? To suddenly talk with a guy who was more or less staring at her arm just a few minutes ago? Even to go so far as to give a business card?

Maybe even she didn't know why she did it. That would likely remain a mystery.
