| Serabella Jensen"People are more than just one thing. Show me all your facets."
The Biography
|
Birth Name: Serabella Jensen Aliases: Sera, Cam, Miss Moth Gender: Fem Age: 20 Birth Day: Arcana: Hierophant Place of Residence: East Eden Academy Semester: Graduated Class: --
Sorority: --
Part/Full Time Job: Horse Ranch, Cam Jensen Detective Agency
Base & Transformed Appearance: During normal daytime, Sera is often seen wearing casual clothes that are easy to mover around in. Her most signature outfit is a long sleeve shirt of some kind (often striped or with colorful graphics) with jeans and an old tattered Denim vest. The vest is often adorned with buttons advertising her favorite sayings or characters from shows. Her hair is red and full, even when braided into a tight strand the stray strands billow out around her head. Honestly, she hates it.
- Plainclothes Cam:
When in her True Form, Cam's appearance changes drastically. Her hair becomes more short, and changes color to white. But stranger still is the fact that...she grows an additional pair of arms and her body takes on wings and other aspects of a moth. The signature yellow eyes of her shadow self are rimed by black where a human's would be white.
- Trueform Cam:
Personality: Inquisitive Cam is an inquisitive young girl, always looking for answers and questioning so-called "facts." Her father always used to say "When you hear two sides of an argument, the truth is always somewhere in between." And she takes the sentiment to heart.
Mistrustful Cam has a strange personal balance of trust vs. kindness. She always gives someone the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time, acts under the assumption that the person has ulterior motives. After all...most people do. It's the nature of her job to question people, even if ultimately she is trying to help.
Realistic Cam has a very realistic outlook on life. The dumb fail, the weak lose, and the smart survive. Regardless of her attempts even the playing field with her work, she understands that ultimately she won't change the world. But even then, is it so wrong to want to try sometimes?
unromantic Cam has been asked to investigate too many love affairs to believe in anything as subjective as "love." People have flings, they have fun, and then they move onto the next intrigue. It isn't that much different from what she herself spends her time doing. She understands that life is just a series of moving on to the next more exciting thing. Even so...she has seen the ugly side of relationships too often to be able to see herself in one.
Necessity for Chaos (repressed self) Beneath the well-ordered and rational mind of Sera Jensen is the desire to see things fall apart. Without chaos, crime, and human folly, she wouldn't have a job. The years after the divide were lonely, disastrous...but there was so much work to do. In the end, Sera will never admit that she gets a kick out of uncovering the dirty laundry people want to hide...Like a moth she feeds off of things left behind, shuttered away, the things we hide in the closet and try never to touch.

The Background
|
History: The Jensen name was important. It was essential. Sera grew up knowing that her name meant something, atleast to the people she knew. Her father, Harry, was a police detective. And a good one. Cam knew that because of all the awards, and from what people talked about when they thought she wasn't paying attention. Which was most of the time.
From a very early age, Harry J. was schooling his daughter in his arts. The sideways glances that picked up more than anyone expected, the ways to tell if people were lying or telling the truth, and how find the truth in those mistruths. See, Harry was a man who believed in Lineage. He believe that names meant something. He'd be damned if his little girl was going to disgrace him. Even if she didn't end up in the same profession, no matter what profession she ended up, he would give her the tools to succeed. It was his job and he took it very seriously, and he gave her all the attention his station as a single father demanded.
Serabella learned, too. She watched and she listened, and she picked up things that even her father had not expected her to. Some of her favorite memories are looking up into her father's face as he smiled approvingly after having repeated something back to him with perfect accuracy. With the exception of one such time, when she repeated back to him flawlessly his own words; words that told of him hoping and wishing for a boy when his departed wife had been pregnant. It hurt, knowing that her father wanted her to be something she wasn't. But he never showed a spec of disappoint on the basis of her gender, before or after that conversation.
Regardless, she felt the weight of it, and just as he must be working hard to accept her, she would work hard to prove she could be every bit the successor that a son would be. She'd never get the chance to ask him if it worked, though.
One of the few things Sera never found out about was the reason her father quit the force in favor of Private Investigating. She noticed a decline in their way of life, though she at the time she didn't mind, and she noticed a change in her father that was much more worrying. He was still good at his job, and she still heard about it. There were other things she heard too, hushed voices she couldn't make out, whispers of paranoia and enemies. She could put the pieces together in her head. Parts of the story were missing, but they were leading to something...
And then the world ended.
Her father was investigating something off the books. She'd slipped a peek at the case file once when he hadn't been looking, quickly snapped a mental picture in her head. But it didn't matter what she knew about that case, because while she was pacing behind the couch waiting for him to come home, the house split in two, and the world caved in.
Sera woke up in a make-shift hospital tent a few months later. The world was a blur of motion and excitement. And for a little while there was absolute chaos. Her father's body, among many others, was never found, but it didn't take a Sherlock Holmes to figure out that he had disappeared into the Eternal Divide like so many others.
In the wake of the Divide, Sera set up shop in what remained of her father's office, rebuilt over time, of course. She was young, and at first none of the old contacts trusted her to do anything but mess up. But just as her father had always told her- the name meant something. It took time to prove herself. And even now, five years later, she often feels like she still has to prove herself. "The world of Criminal Investigation is a man's world," her father had always told her, "but in the end, the one with the information holds the cards. And you hold information better than anyone I know."
