J-377
"I am a construct of poly-carbonate and steel alloys,
yet I have will. In that respect, I'm the same as you."

The Biography

Birth Name: J-377
Aliases: Jeff, Robot Jeff, Jeffery Lawrence
Gender: Male (appearance)
Age: 2
Birth Day: May 1st
Arcana: The Hanged Man
Place of Residence: undetermined
Academy Semester: First Year
Class:

Sorority: Drama Club

Part/Full Time Job: Appliance repair

Appearance:

Jeff has a lithe form, built to resemble a leanly-muscled teen. He has grey hair that doesn't grow, and it's fibers resist most kinds of styling agents due to it's weight. Therefore, his hair typically simply hangs flat. His eyes are a striking light blue color. His face is almost always in a blank, thoughtful expression, with rare smiles.

Alternate Appearance:

At night, Jeff's body is covered in pitch black armor with trails of light tracing across his form in circular patterns.

Personality:
Infantile Library
Jeff is an advanced machine with a built in Papillon Heart that has the capacity for human understanding. While this is true, he is young, and his mental capacity for emotion is still infantile. He has a hard time processing emotion, and when it occurs, it is often in short bursts of extreme sadness, laughter, or anger.

Because of his unreliable emotions, Jeff prefers to lean on his vast knowledge database in most social situations. He would rather explain a situation then try to figure out how he feels about it. His conflicted upbringing has taught him that not everyone will accept his fledgling emotions, but fact and action are immutable.

We're all the same underneath
Jeff needs to believe that what separates him from humanity is negligible at best, and that he is just as viable a being as any human. As an empathetic byproduct of this, Jeff projects his humanity onto animals and even machines. He might process an animal's body language, vital signs, and sounds and "translate" it. Or, he may process the mechanical faults, performance capacity, or functioning status of a machine and "translate" it.

...so if he tells you your stove is sad, it probably needs a new heating element. He is often seen "consoling" machines by fixing their mechanical problems, and speaking to them as he does so.

I'm just like you
Jeff is at odds with his existance as a weapon, wishing instead to live his life as a normal student for as long as possible. This causes conditions and volatile emotional responses when he is faced with the reality of his insufficient humanity.

The Potential

Strengths: (Anything your character is skilled in, such as Martial Arts/ Drawing/ etc? You are allowed a maximum of five strengths and a minimum of three. Inhuman strengths will only be active in Orgia Mode.)

Strength Name: Analytic Optics
Description: Jeff's eyes are intricately designed to capture even the most minute details of posture, tone, and even pick up heat signatures and heart rate of creatures within 30 ft. This function was meant to assist him in rooting out liars and spies, but it also allows him to know the current HP of humans within 30ft. This effect works on animals as well, but not on Shadows or demons, as their anatomies are foreign to him.

Strength Name: Knowledge Database
Description: Jeff was built with a large catalog of knowledge, from history, math, science, literature, etc... because of this, he begins with an Intelligence Quality of Rank 2 instead of Rank 1.

Strength Name: Sturdy Frame
Description: Jeff is built from tough material, with his key systems secured behind a thick chassis. His Health is boosted by 10%

Strength Name: Repair Module (Inhuman)
Description: while in Origa mode, Jeff heals damage at a rate of 10 HP per turn spent in Origa Mode.

Weaknesses:

Weakness Name: Infantile Soul
Description: Jeff's spirit is young and under developed. As a result, his SP is decreased by 10%

Weakness Name: Impressionable Mind
Description: as a result of his young psyche, Jeff has a harder time getting over mental ailments. Mental ailments last one turn longer for Jeff.

Weakness Name: Misunderstood
Description: Jeff's delicate state of mind is easily misunderstood, and when he is hiding his emotions, he often comes off as a know-it-all or troubled teen. In either case, forging relationships is hindered by his inability to understand the emotions of others. His Expression begins at rank 0 (he needs twice as many points to reach rank 1.

Weakness Name: Origa drain (inhuman)
Description: Sustaining Origa mode requires concentration for Jeff, as he does not like violence. Defying his wishes and performing in this way drains his SP 10 per turn while he remains in Origa mode.

Soul Bound Weapon:

Weapon Name: Light Chakram
Weapon Description: A disc of black metal with a grip on one side of the blade. It can be used in close quarters or as a projectile, and Jeff can cause it to ricochet off of walls and enemies to return to him.
Weapon Image: n/a
Weapon Attack Type: Slash
Weapon Element:

Side-Arm Weapon:

Side-Arm Name: Heavyarm
Side-Arm Description: The rotating barrels of this Machine gun are housed inside Jeff's right thigh. When the compartment opens, Jeff inserts his right hand, which folds back and makes way for the wrist joint to connect with the barrel. The gun then fires a reserve of ammo that is kept in Jeff's forearm.

Side-Arm Attack Type: Gun
Side-Arm Style: Machine Gun

The Background

History:
Armand Lockley was already a fugitive when he arrived in Endymion before the divide. He had escaped persecution due to his research into Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapons in Europe. He lived as modest a life as he could, until he met a woman at a science conference and fell in love. Rebecca Lawrence was her name. They were both individuals of science, and their work was their life. Her specialty was artificial intelligence, his was automation mechanics and weapons.

Project "J" originated as a result of their desire to create something together. An artificial life form that could exist on it's own and experience human emotion. The project bore no fruit for many years, going through revision after revision.

Armand did his best to avoid utilizing his ASSW research specifically for this project. No "child" of his would be a weapon. But then, everything changed when the city came crumbling down around them. The new government that was put in place used their power and proof of "salvation" to control everything, and Armand saw a glimpse of the oppressive power he's left behind. He became obsessed with the new project.

He created a being based on the ASSWs of the past, but with new purpose. This weapon would bring down the oppressive government that used Demons and Personas to maintain their dominance.

His wife, Rebecca, held their original purpose, and J-377 was born, one mentor training him to be an ultimate weapon, the other doing her best to nurture the humanity inherent in him. The result was a conflicted soul.

Before a reconciliation of these two extremes could be reached, however, the facility was discovered and raided by government operatives. Only Jeff was left behind, safe in a sealed compartment unbeknownst to the agents. The other researchers were either killed or captured.

Hours, maybe days later, Jeff emerged alone into a world he'd been built to tear down, and had no idea what to do next.

I've got a few things right off the bat, Jeff's looking good but he has some details to iron out.

For Sturdy Frame and Infantile Soul we're no longer allowing Strengths that influence your percentage of HP/SP. Some older characters have them but we stopped doing that since it's been deemed incredibly powerful for a simple Strength, sorry. This'll also impact your Weakness but you can generally take whatever Weakness you want as long as it balances the Strength.

For Analytic Optics you'll need to restructure what it can do a little bit. On the whole this is kinda powerful for a Strength anyway but HP is more of a concept of how much vigor is in one's soul and not related to their current physical condition. You can redo the strength to have basically the same effect relating to someone's biological functions to know if they're sick or injured or what have you but as far as HP goes that's a no-go and as far as knowing the HP of human opponents in PvS/PvP that is also a no-go as a Strength, a Soul Skill would be different.

For your Personality section under We're all the same underneath you would need a Strength to be able to "read" this sort of information from machines at a minimum, reading it from animals can be interpreted as having a higher sense of empathy unless it's like a "without fail" kind of thing specific to your character or gives you information any normal person couldn't glean at a glance. You can probably work this ability into a currently existing Strength.

And finally for the history. Unless Armand or Rebecca were aligned with the post-Divide government at any point they would not know about government-aligned demons. It can be assumed that they could know about the Cadets being Persona Users in a sense as they are building an ASSW but the fact that the government using demons to attain their goals has been a secret of the government up until the Playhouse broadcast in the last in-game day.
