Welcome to New Arcana!
Welcome, Welcome! You've probably guessed by now, but this is a text-based Persona RPG site for Atlus fans, by Atlus fans. If you're new to Shin Megami Tensei, this place can still be for you, so no need to dash towards the doors! Your first stop should be the introduction board so we can introduce ourselves. Then right after that, feel free to go through our vital information to get a good feel of the site. We hope you enjoy your stay, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to post them here. Ciao!
Shin Megami Tensei and Persona belong to ATLUS. We own nothing, and have simply used their data to create a world of our own. They are the true geniuses behind the scenes.
Frog was riled up and ready to be hacked. Dealing with shady people was stupid and dealing with shady people online was even stupider considering his fucking lack of any knowledge on how to protect his laptop's virginity, so he simply hovered his mouse over the system restore button, ready to time travel his windows into the great beyond several days ago, possibly fuckin up any pre-built software that had had to update itself automatically while he wasn't looking in the meantime.
Immediately after Frogerio logged in, his screen would flood with an absurd amount of jumbled green code, an indecipherable stream of numbers and letters engulfing his entire browser and rushing down the tab while his keyboard and mouse silently shut off. It'd be blatantly obvious to anyone who'd interacted with a laptop before that this wasn't normal by any stretch of the imagination; it was a bombastic wave of flair not unlike the kind of hacking you'd see in an outdated mediocre movie or a meme floating around the web, something that had to either a blatant display of supernatural power or an elaborate prank... or perhaps both? Regardless, while the sight might initially prove alarming, things would calm down not long after as the rapidly moving text slowed to a trickling crawl and control over the keys and cursor returned to the Wild Card. His browser would remain altered though and every tab he opened would load the same black screen, a masked figure slowly fading into sight and waving in his direction, the girl(?) hovering peacefully in a sea of code while the screen automatically began to zoom in on her head.
"A frog, huh? I've been meeting a lot of people with animal-based usernames today. Maybe there's some kind of pretentious metaphor in that? Like we're all animals or something... haha!"
Most of the random text behind her would disappear and in the vacant space new words would be spelled out, the messages speedily darting in to fill the empty spot. But in spite of their swift arrival, they'd linger for a decent bit before vanishing and being replaced giving Frogerio a fair amount of time to read it over, likely thanks to the fact that the terrorist wasn't actually speaking aloud for him to hear. In the meantime, the rabbit-headed woman would stroke her mask's chin with her index finger, waiting for him to finish reading and then asking him a question.
"So you like frogs, right? I always forget: are they warmblooded or cold?"
QAS Initiated!
>Warmblooded.
>Coldblooded.
>Does it matter? Why are you asking me this? You could literally just Google it.
Frog's first instinct was to start spamming the shit out of the escape button and trying to click whatever he could with his mouse but even after control went back to him, he still couldn't do JACK shit.
"ur face is an animal username"
He replied first after having given up on escaping. Sighing, he looked at the next message this person sent him and immediately, his obviousness senses started tingling and he felt attacked and compelled to educate this person and also mock them for not knowing something so simple as the frog's bloodedness. Also the person asked him this for no apparent reason. Why would he even reply~?
"does it matter? why're ya asking me this, you could literally just google it"
>Does it matter? Why are you asking me this? You could literally just Google it.
"Well actually... Don't tell anybody, but this isn't my face. I'm not actually a sentient talking bunny, I'm just wearing a mask. But I appreciate your attention-to-detail nevertheless!" Tugging at the ears idly, she'd laugh to herself and only stop once she read Frogerio's next response. For a while nothing would happen as she just sort of... floated there staring blankly. Then after a few seconds of contemplation a coin would digitize between her fingers and she'd flip it, stare down at it, and look back up towards the screen. "Welp! I kinda expected you to play along like the rest, but whatever, I can roll with it. You're now on Side Ice, Mr. Special! ...or uh, Side Frost? Eh, you'll get what I mean soon enough." With a snap of her fingers she'd disappear and plain white lines would appear around the code-covered void in her place creating a crude but clear gameboard for them to play on. After the process was finished her head would pop up from the lower-right corner and a small box of basic information would open up at the very bottom.
"Coldblooded or warmblooded, you'll be bloodletted by the end of this! Figuratively speaking that is."
Tic-Tac-Jack!:
Tic-Tac-Jack follows normal tic-tac-toe rules. You put down your corresponding symbol in a space of your choosing and attempt to connect three of them in any direction while blocking your opponent from doing the same. The player (aka you) moves first and based on the decision made during their QAS will use one of these two pieces based on the likenesses of Demons.
(If you have editing software and feel like it then you can feel free to paste them down on the board yourself, but otherwise just give me the directions verbally in your post and I'll place yours for you.)
The end result of the game will determine the player's reward as elaborated on in the initial Case File. A win will net them the Victor's Bonus alongside the normal prizes, a loss will leave them with only the regular rewards, and a draw will either trigger a rematch or count as an effective loss. If the game is tied then a two number randomizer will be rolled by the DM which determines whether or not the player gets a second game; if it lands on 1 they do, if it lands on 2 they don't. Following this though, no further randomizers will be rolled, although further rematches might be granted depending on what happens in the thread. "But don't worry about that! Just do your best and let's have some fun!"
"ur not a real rabbit? I was like, is this magic or what"
Frog replied as she decided for him. Apparently, it was a question for him to choose a side. And he ended up on the frost side. Better ice than fire, honestly, but it brought back edgy memories from when he deliberately got the wrong answer and almost fucked up everyone in the team. Ah, good times.
"Hmph, we'll see who's gonna be lettin whose blodd"

Frog felt his blood pumping as he saw what move his opponent had made, it being the most desireable outcome he could've wished for. Honestly, he was anxious about placing his Jack on the right spot but apparently, it really did trick his opponent, evading the possible draw. His fingers moved to the keyboard instinctively to gloat his victory, the words he was typing nearly an audible shout to him.
"HA! CHECK AND MATE, MATE!"

"Oh noes! It appears I was the letted all along! Well-played Mr. Special. I gotta say, as short as this was it was pretty fun, though I might be speaking on a relative scale after last match. Some other terrorist started freaking out and threatening me just cause I wanted to have a little fun with them... Crazy stuff. I'd say this city is going down the tubes, but I suppose it was already rotten to begin with. Especially if the stuff said in that broadcast last night is anything to go by."
"oh wows you played against another terrorist. That how you can do this techno shtuff?"
Frog asked like some lil kid. He wasn't gonna say he's a terrorist too, who knows what kinda info this bunny had extracted from his laptop, but ayy it was fun to hear a confirmation that it really was a terrorist he was facing here. And also beat here. Cause he won. Hehe, he won~!
"ain't it what the terrorists want though? down with the city and all? like, ya won't make my laptop explode like some suicide bomber are you"

"Yep, yep~! I'm the web's greatest Psyche Terrorist: the wonderful Con-Soul!"
As if gravity had suddenly been applied to them, the white lines and the pieces floating in the air would without warning fall down and gracelessly tumble off the screen, the rabbit mask exiting the corner as Con-Soul pushed herself out of it and hovered back into full view. But while she took center stage yet again, this time she'd seem much closer in proximity and the girl would only draw closer and closer as she floated over casually, hovering through the air until her large mascot-head obscured most of the background. "Nah don't worry. I just like having fun is all. Everyone does it for different reasons: justice, giggles, power, w/e... A lot of us (like me) aren't even actively rebelling, but I guess in the end that doesn't matter. Whatever happens next in the city reflects on us all. All I can do is hope for the best."
"...but frig that sappy spiel, you won! No time to waste moping on what-ifs! It's prize time!"
After the enthusiastic declaration, she'd reach out with her hand and press it up against the screen from the inside, the area around it beginning to ripple and distort as if a portal had just opened up between two destinations. Should he stare it for more than a split second, Frogerio would feel almost instinctively compelled to reach out and touch his screen, though it was ultimately his decision; nothing would force him to follow suit. If he did reach out to it though, his palm would slip through briefly and he'd feel tiny frail fingers interlock with his own, a chill washing over his hand and coursing through his entire body (which had begun to glow an almost unnoticeable shade of dim blue). It was a pleasant sensation to be sure, a feeling not unlike pushing your hand into ice-cold water on a hot summer evening, but it wouldn't last long as he felt something slip into his palm and the girl's hand recede along with the rippling gateway it'd conjured. A final message flashed across the screen.
"PT or otherwise, we're all different. But I like to think everyone can connect through games. Let's connect again someday Bfroger6!"
Then everything cut to black. The computer would completely shut down before he could respond, although it'd restart on its own in a second or two. Were Frogerio to look at his palm he'd discover a small cyan gem and several glass-like shards resting within it... and were he to look at his desktop wallpaper, he'd also discover one last parting gift: a picture of Con-Soul flashing a peace sign and raising her mask just enough to expose a smile.
