Appearance: Araminta has shoulder-length blonde hair and wide blue eyes. She stands at around 5’4’’, and weighs around 119 pounds. She has an overall slender hourglass build with fair skin. Araminta typically wears whatever is fashionable, but her most commonly used outfit consists of a bomber jacket, a black tank top, blue short shorts, and white thigh-highs.

Alternate Appearance: The most notable change to her appearance while in her alternate form is her face – the skin sears off it to expose her skull. Her eye-sockets glow with a strange, golden power, forming “eyelights” that act as pupils. She wears a long pearl necklace around her neck, a violet flapper dress with golden tassels, and a set of yellow glass slippers.

Nice and polite at first glance, Araminta’s the epitome of grace and class – a Fletcher needs to be, after all. It doesn’t take much to prick this surface, though, and what’s underneath isn’t pretty.

Araminta is ultimately driven by a single, simple fact: in this world, there are winners and there are losers, and she has no intention of being the latter. The number one rule of the game is never to show weakness; sharks are drawn to the scent of blood, and if you give them an inch they’ll go the whole mile. To this end, she’s constructed a “popular girl” image that she goes to any length to maintain – this world is too cruel to care about things like scruples.

Araminta can’t stand it when people seem to act against this fact. She does not believe in altruism because she just can’t understand how it’s possible – why would anyone help someone out of no tangible benefit to themselves? These actions undercut the underlying assumption that she’s constructed her entire worldview around.

If there's two vulnerable spots in her life, they'd have to be her younger half-brother and her own lack of a father. The latter is a secret she goes through great pains to conceal.

The Background

History:
Araminta Fletcher had a troubled childhood even before the Divide. The result of a teenage pregnancy, her parents – who were never married in the first place – split up shortly before she was born. Her mother was the scion of a wealthy family, and her birth caused quite a stir among the upper echelons of New York society at the time. Nevertheless, she was given the education due her family name.

It was in one of New York’s most elite schools that she was educated, and it was there that her worldview was born. Araminta soon found herself the prime target of the other girls in school because of her fatherlessness. Her mother would resume her string of dating not long after her father left – as such, Araminta grew up with many stepfathers through the course of her years. This combination of social ostracism and fatherlessness created a deep sense of alienation within Araminta.

And this alienation led her to a revelation. The world was a cold, cruel place – no-one had her back, and if she wanted to survive in such a world then she had to shape up. So she tried…but try as she might, she could never erase the stigma of being an illegitimate child.

When Araminta was 11, her mother married a man from a similarly respectable family and bore a son with him. This child – her half-brother, John St. Clair – would prove to be the glue holding their family together through bonds of mutual love.

Then the Divide happened.

When the Divide happened, Araminta’s family was among the first few to resettle in Endymion. Forced into a school and forced to interact with people not of her social class for the first time, Araminta reinvented herself as the untouchable popular girl, amassing a small army of sycophants and admirers that she calls “friends.” Her dating life would come to resemble her mother’s, too, going through popular boy after popular boy like a sickle through wheat. It is in this place that Araminta’s story truly starts.
